heres an idea. contact your reseller to refund you what you paid for business and use that to buy it from a store. save yourself some time by avoiding shipping.
i dont know if that will work though

how did you get those forceware drivers to work? mine says it didnt find a compatible driver for my hardware or something like that... did you have to uninstall the default video drivers before?

also does anyone else have a lot of backlight bleeding? it was the first thing i noticed when my screen got power. its pretty significant around the bottom and in the center it stretches up to about half way up the screen.

i also have two dead pixels but luckily enough for me theyre both at the very bottom of the screen where the black start bar actually covers them.

Can anyone comment about the quality of the on-board mic? Does it pick up voice well or does one need to speak directly into it? Is it excessively sensitive? Does it feedback into the speakers?

The mic isn't very sensitive. But the sound quality is pretty good.

question about the fingerprint reader. I want to turn off the ability for someone to enter my password and have it only be the fingerprint reader. I see the option, but I cant acces it because in the system settings pretty much all the stuff is grayed out. How do I get access to the option? My user account is set as the admin, is that not enough?

Which ones did you try? My favorite driver on my 8600M Gt, 175.19, did give me that message about incompatibility, but 177.89 installed without a problem; I just installed it directly on top of the default 176.02. Make sure you're uing the modded inf.

Ok, I'll give you step by step:
    1. Go here
    2. Click driver and INF; download both of them to your desktop.
    3. Create a folder, then extract the driver into it.
    4. Add the inf to the folder which contains the driver data; you'll get a message asking you if you want to overwrite the inf; click yes.
    5. Find Setup; double-click to begin installation.

If you're on 64-bit, download that one instead.

Well to be honest i dont have any of the games installation disks with me rit now nor do i have any testing software! So i cant really post a review. But here are some thoughts ....

I just did a through inspection of the laptop and it has a very good look according to me! Extremely good build quality (a perfect 10 i would say)

The screen resolution is also very good but needed a dpi adjustment though for vista 32 bit.

Couldnt find any dead pixels (that can be seen visually i guess thats very good) suggest me a software to check for dead pixels if they are any (i doubt if there would be any!!)

I will be putting my laptop to its ultimate test much later when i am back home after my vacation (around sep end) as i dont have any of the stuff required and cant imagine downloading them on this very slow dailup network!

As mentioned previoulsy in some posts that the palm rest to the right of touch pad was getting a bit hot, i might actually be lucky. I have a 320gb 5400rpm hdd and it never got hot not even warm to say! But i would like to say here that i havnt done any hdd intesive work except installing vista when i found that that area wasnt even warm! But i cant coment on prolonged usage though!

One last thought - the power brick is a bit larger than what i thought would be! But no issues with it for me!

Thats all i can say about the laptop for now!

Try using the following program to check for dead pixels:

    Dead Pixel Buddy
    http://www.laptopshowcase.co.uk/downloads.php?id=1

It is only 26kb so your dialup connection will be able to download it quickly.

Thanx AlyH, Is there a probgram that counts the dead pixels, I've noticed quite a few of them, mostly near the edges, but some in the middle also.

I believe it's physically impossible for any application to count the dead pixels for you; all programs can do for you is display colours to try and help you identify dead/stuck pixels

I ran the program (was pretty simple) and i couldnt find a single dead pixel in any color! Guess my sager is perfect after all :)

BTW a worth mentioning though even my 3 yr old tm 4020 doesnt even have a single dead pixel either!! amazing!

Steven if there are some in the middle you should check if they're in the middle quadrant. If so ask DS if PNB offers replacements on screens with middle quadrant dead pixels.

If you go to our website and click on the Knowledge button, and then under the Technical Resource Categories click on Display you will find an article on "Save Money! Make your own LCD Cleaner!". Click on FULL STORY for that article.

This is not only the best way to make your own LCD cleaner, but it will also work very well on your entire laptop.

Be careful though to read the part about how to spray the cleaner on your cloth instead of directly on the LCD or laptop itself.

At the very beginning when it says Press F6 to install a third pary RAID driver, press F6 and insert the driver CD.

Or slipstream the SATA drivers into an unattended XP installation.

Justin said he'd have one on a Monday, then that turned into being by the end of that week (last Friday, the 22nd) because he is very busy with orders and such. I haven't seen anything about it since then.

I'm not sure if he was so busy he just forgot, if he figured we were satisfied with the user reviews we've been getting, or if it's going to be a 40 page novel with 100 pictures and some gnarly midi playing in the background (haha), but since I don't think he's been around as much as normal I'm sure he's pretty busy.

I hope to see it in whatever capacity it's in soon :)

Ok, first impressions of my 8660 bought from XoticPC:

Very impressed with the packaging, double boxing is the way to go, IMHO.

First program downloaded was Firefox 3 and all my usual extensions.

Like the screen a lot! This is my first laptop with a resolution higher than 1280x800 and I'm very impressed. Keyboard is very nice as well though I do notice the chatter from the space bar but not a problem.

I also like the whole look of the notebook, quiet elegance is the only way I can put it into words. :p

Only dislike I have is also what is stated by someone else here, the optical drive is quick to open and the chassis is bit flimsy at that point.

    System Specs:
    P9500 2.53 Ghz
    Nvivia 9800 GT
    2 GB dual channel Ram
320 GB Sata II 5400 rpm
    Windows XP Home

Lot of talk about temps so I installed CPUID and ran 3dmark06. Highest temps I saw for the GPU was 73C and 53C for the hard drive. The area just to the right of the scroll pad gets a little warm but not uncomfortably so.

Very happy with my purchase, now I await Fallout 3 on Oct 8th. :)

wouldn't it be possible to take out the spring of the optical drive button and strech it, making the button less sensible?

(I have no idea how it's put together, so this is just a wild idea)

I think it's taking so long because he probably running into problems with heat, and doesn't want to send out a review until he gets some solution for the heat.

Give it time friend, give it time. (Said twice for dramatic effects)

Stretching a spring would definitely make it less sensible.

I don't know if it would affect the sensitivity of the optical drive though. Is the laptop too heavy to pick up with one hand?

And yes, for SATA/AHCI/RAID drivers, press F6 when it says, and then stick the driver CD in and it should work. Don't quote me on that though.

Now I have to test my completely slip-streamed, unattended XP installation on a virtual machine in eager anticipation.

    Hello guy,

I have seen that at official site is indicated 4go max.

But I have seen at www.pcmicroworks.com that the EDGE portable who is clevo m860tu can be configured with 8go of memory.

At http://www.eurocom.com/ we can also configure the EUROCOM M860TU Montebello with 8go.

The clevo m860tu support 8 go of memory?

    Nobody has tried 8go?

How much does having most of the harddrive full affect harddrive and overall performance?

right now i have 256 of 298 gigs full, is that enough to effect it? I also havent copied over the My Videos folder which has 40GB of video in it which would essentially put me at capacity and i know that definitely would effect performance.

As long as you keep it defragmented it should be okay. And make sure you leave enough space for the paging file.

You got a lot of stuff... =\

Hard driver performance begins to deteriorate at about 60% capacity, and will become noticeable at around 80%. It is better to keep it below 80%...and best to keep it below 60%.

You can have maximum storage or maximum performance...but like most things...you can't always have both.
