Here's what I got from OCing to 2.9 in vista.

It's stable and cpu temps only reached 53 under full load. It was fun, but I'm going back to stock 2.5. It's fast enough as is :) .

Yeah, sure. This was taken before I added one more point to the upper value. Couldn't get it to 3 Ghz though, not stable at all :( .

Does anyone know how you find the GPU temperature in Vista? Can't find it anywhere. Using stock drivers.

    Thanks

ok, ill also run 3d mark, so we can see the diff bw the X7900 and X9000. but first i have to install driver sweeper and do all the other crap, then run 3d mark. I hate drivers....

 I'm curious about one thing though. How did my overclocked 2.9 Ghz t9300 3dmarks06 score beat an x9000 clocked at 3.2 Ghz? I'm sure that I ran at the same resolution because I'm running the free version of 3dmarks and have a WUXGA screen. Does using the Vista tweaks thread here at NBR cause that much of a difference? I was pleasantly surprised when I hit over 70 fps in the "Return to Proxicon" 3d test though.

yeah me too.. I got up to 77 fps in the beggining of 3dmark06...I know synthetics dont mean much, and i dont keep my CPU OC'd, but regardless it is still rather fun and exciting to know WE can overclock with stablity and added performance! BTW my cpu temps never got above 44C during 3dmark06 OC to 2.4ghz (though i had fan control on FULL fn+1)

ran 3dmark again and got 9950, one core got up to 59c ( which isnt bad at all!) still not as good as the 9964! But i think anything above 2.4ghz isnt going to be very stable. Testing....

well I broke the 10,000 point mark with my little c2d 2.0 @ 2449 mhz. Check it out ! Not bad temps either, though I wont be keeping the settings OC to that but fun anyway!

    Nice score naticus :)

Never used 3DMark before.... so just curious as to how accurate it is in producing results... I mean, each time you run it on the same machine, how much precision is there in both results ? Are they the same, very similar, etc. ?

How did you overclock your processor naticus?

    My Sager NP5790 has a C2D T7300 2.00GHz but I couldn't overclock it...

EDIT: just finishing reading this thread... Followed the settings on your screenshot and now I can overclock my t7300 to 2.30GHz... :)

EDIT 2: done a 3dmark06 test with GPU (174.16 driver) oced to the max and CPU @ 2.30GHz. ;) Seems pretty nice imo for my system with a 7950GTX... :D

Ive just added my self, to the group of M570RU-U (got "Extreme...." printed below) owners :) Got it im my hands yesterday and what a beauty :p There is just one thing with it, its a style-note ?? I havent ever heard about em before, but brought it through a reseller stationed closly ;) Compared to my old, crappy (and always faulty) lappy this one is no but improvement ;)

I got it only with the t7500 and 2 gb ram, couldnt really affort the penryn t9300, so would rather wait and upgrade sometime later when i really need that sort of processingpower :p

I expected it to be a powerhouse and it SURLY is one aswell :) Yes, it is a bit noisy and it isnt a sager, so ill have to see if i can get the fan-throttle some elsewhere, but it is NOWHERE near what I expected, well the fans have a funny idea spinning up to crasy speeds and then settle, and thats kinda buggering me, but running crysis and cod4 it's not much louder than my old FS Xi1546 :) Ive got installed the Laptopvideo2go 167.43 drivers, which are working probberly on this baby, resulting in 8573 Marks in 3D Mark 06 @ res 1280*1024 (compare link: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=5562578 ,if interrested)

Ill update my sig later, just had a break with some time to play with the machine ;)

You broke it alright, in 1280x800 :D
There are users that got over 10k at 1280x1024.
    I`m only saying that,because that`s the refference for testing,and I know you only have WXGA+ ..
    Still, a very nice score!

    Hi guys,

I need a new laptop, with the current one, I kinda broke some of the keys while cleaning it. >_> That, and its getting old and I feel that the HD is about to give anytime soon.

    a) I wanted to ask, since the front page says it doesn't support 800Mhz RAM, however on the website of Clevo m57*RU does support, but it doesn't say it supports 8800GTX, so go figure.

    b) Anyways, I was looking into purchasing a pretty high-end laptop that'll be future proof for at least 2 years. So I narrowed it down to this laptop, but I'm still iffy if I should go all out or should I wait.

    c) My configuration would be:
    WUXGA 1920x1200
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 - 2.50GHz
    nVidia 8800GTX - 512MB
2GB RAM 800Mhz (Cost the same as the 667Mhz) + 1GB Intel Turbo Memory
    200GB 7200rpm

I'll be spending about $2,500CAD before tax and shipping. It's be from Eurocom. Its a bit much, but its much better than what Alienware, Dell or other companies can bring for such price.

    i) SIDE NOTE: @MegaBUD - How's your transaction between so for concerning your bleeding lighting? I asked for a quote and they replied within the hour and gave me a good deal.

Would it be safe to buy this system or wait it out till the end of the year for Intel's new platform? Granted, like all technology, it will eventually be outdated, I just don't want to fall into that trap where you buy the high-end only to see it out-done with the latest release the week after. No iPhone price drop for me.

I wouldn't bother with the 800Mhz of RAM as it will only downclock it to 667Mhz anyway. Apart from that, it's definitely the best spec for the price imho. I'd go for it, as waiting is just burning a hole in your pocket, if u know what I mean.

Naticus also bought it from Eurocom if i am not mistaken.

Do you need it now? If not u could wait a couple of months till the 570TU comes out...

hmm, actually, I'll wait... but get the same laptop

    Clevo's updated m570

So, I'll continue to lurk here while people OC the hell out of their toys. I wonder what the 3dMark would be on the Extreme equipped machines.

Also, do you think its possible to replace the fans on this laptop? I honestly don't care, but I'm very self-conscious sometimes when my current laptop goes into overdrive.

@Geforce2go: Thanks for the confirmation about the RAM

@hkman: I just checked engadget, looks like I'll be waiting and pestering eurocom when they'll have it in. =)

    Back Thing?

Im not sure what the back thing is? But I downloaded a program called SetFSB...then i selected the PLL, then I moved the slider to where it said 2400 mhz ...BAM one of the easiest OC that I have ever done. You should try it. Easily you can ( and stable for that matter) add 400mhz to your cpu with very, very little added heat!

    edit: The PLL is ICS9LPR363DGLF

OC is more of a prestige point, itsnot really needed, for its help in games is minimal to mediocore.

I agree that OCing does not impact games as much, but I think OCing would be beneficial (in terms of time) for intensive computational applications like encoding or image filtering. Granted, you'll save a couple seconds, if you do this for a living, that's a lot of hours saved especially if you "scrub" data (real-time video rendering) a lot.

Has anyone changed their processor on their laptop? Was it difficult?

I've upgraded processors before, but they were desktops, so I was wondering if its on par in terms of difficulty?

The reason I asked, is that probably every 6 months or so, I would want to add a new layer of Artic Silver and/or change to a new processor specially Intel's new socket B processors.
