OMG MASSIVE QUESTION!!
ok so can a NP5792 house a extreme processor/unlocked processors with just a Bios update..
i know the cooling solution is different and in the guide at the start is said the motherboard is different but honestly is it just a bios change with better CPU cooler? but like yerrrr cooling solution aside is the only difference between the NP5792 and NP5793 the software on the bios?
because see in a years time we could get 35nm core2due ext reams that don't need the cooling but need the bios support... does sager/clevo have a history of this kind of bios updating?
.. Xotic PC response or sager rep or some thing would be great!

Doing so will instantly void your warranty.
The new cooling system AND bottom case is required to support an Extreme processor. -
so it is the same only difference is cooling/bios? warranty aside... seeing as retailers are selling non extreme processors in 5972 base cases with new cooling system and i assume older bios?
-

The "5793" has the new
1)cooling
2)casing
3)motherboard and bios that will allow overclocking with the X9000 Processor.
These are the only changes. -
or just 3 thats not being used due to lack of a x9000 -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
You get all 3 I believe Sager might be getting close to sold out completely of the old chassis.
-
Does that include a 3rd fan or not ?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Sager has not implemented the 3rd Fan yet (above the CPU). The new motherboard that is provided with the "5793" has a fan input on it in case it is ever needed.
-
A 3rd fan would definitely kill battery life, which is barely acceptable as it is with an extreme cpu. But then again, I`d rather have a cool and powerhungry laptop than a hot and battery saving one.
-
So apparently the 173.65 Clevo drivers for Vista 32bit came out. Has anyone tried them yet? I would try them, it's just that I'm using 64bit.

M570RU can support BIOS OC just with a 1.00.08 BIOS, confirmed. 3.2G may not be stable.
-
As simple as this... -
I have tried both, both @3.2G not stable, at least for me.
-
Try RM Clock Utility and disable IDA(Intel Dynamic Acceleration). Disable DFFS too.
Then try again... -
Do you have a ru-u or just ru.

-
So how are the temps at 3.0 Ghz ? considering the old mainboard, that is..
-
Well, I have the old mb and oc'ed mine and temps are OK (not to hot).
-
So values?
-
: 1.00.08 2008/01/31
1. Solve white frame on POST screen issue.
2. Solve system shuts down when running 3DMark on battery power issue.
3. Added overclockable tools.
I have updated my biost to 1.00.08 but i dont see any oc tools
I have T7500 CPU maybe because of it ?
or i have missed something ? -
(my guess is that the NP5973 is just a different back plate and bios and every thing els is the same)
the actual fans etc from the pics seem exactly the same as well as heatsinks etc
only dif is that extra non fan filled hole and the bios it seems.
i wonder if the peryns x9000 or any peryns work in the NP5972 mobo but.. ponder. -
5793 has MB Rev. 5.X, better for OC, old MB only rev. 4.X/3.X.
-
temps are around 70
-
70 seems a bit high. I only saw 70C in Heroes V, when running medium mode fan speed...
When running full mode the temps are as follow (max values):
CPU: 64C
HDD: 57C
GPU: 65C(Crysis, Heroes V,timeshift and gta san andreas)
All these in a room where ambiental temperature is 24-25C...(which is pretty hot).
Back home, these temps are lower by 2-3C... -
70 is the high, but mostly 65-72 C
-
when i tried to play ZT2, it said "this program requires at least 256mb free memory to run". Wth? What does that mean?

I've ordered the the M57ru (shown in sig) and have configured it with 4GB of RAM and 1GB Intel turbo memory. I'll be mainly using it for web design, net surfing and gaming. Will adding the turbo memory be beneficial as I have read conflicting threads that some believe it to be a waste with more than 2GB of RAM, and others say it boosts battery life and boot times.
Thanks,
Jon -
If you have the room in your budget, then go for it, it improves boot times, but it is not required.
-
Skip it. It`s not worth it . Maybe intel turbo memory 2.0 will be better, but right now it`s useless. Save the money and get something else.
-
Thanks for the replies. As I've got more money than sense, I'll be getting it.

Sorry! Don't do charity lol!

Ah! Is that what it was, I thought you'd been to too many self help groups Just kidding.
On topic: I was thinking of going for Vista 64-bit, as I have 4GB of RAM. Is it better performance wise in games etc, or are there too many problems regarding drivers. -
Not too many games currently take advantage of 64-bit, but I think Crysis developers do claim that they optimized it for 64-bit.
But at this point, having 4GB of RAM isn't going to be much of an improvement over 3GB of RAM, so if you're worried about compatibility then go with 32-bit. I personally formatted my harddrive and installed 32-bit and feel better about it, but in the 2 weeks I used 64-bit I didn't encounter any difficulties besides the annoyance of having two Programs folders. -
Thanks, I think I'll stick to 32bit and upgrade in future once more compatible drivers become available. I've read that 32bit will only use about 3.2GB out of the 4 installed, so would you think downgrading to 3GB will be more beneficial.

Not long to wait! ... my notebook (sig) is being delivered this coming Friday. I'll post some pics and run a performance test in 3DMark06. I also hope to test Crysis with the latest patch.
@Shyster1, your more likely to win the lottery! -
Hmm, ive never heard of Kobalt computers. How is there customer service so far for u? They may be a good alternative to rock...
-
I was initially with Rock but cancelled my order due to extremely long lead times. Kobalt on the other hand are excellent due to having stock, and reply instantly to queries. You can also change spec right up until the day of build and they also have custom paint options. They do seem to have all the Penryn's in stock, apart from the X9000 that has an ETA of late March/ early May. I highly recommend them as they keep you regularly up to date compared to some OEM's.
-
-
How to uninstall the driver through safe mode?
-
you use Driver Sweeper for it.
-
Just recieved my notebook and here are it's 3Dmark06 test scores all stock:
Awsome dudes! -
Is there any way to overclock the CPU in the M571RU-U?

NVM, I just figured out in another thread how to overclock the CPU.
Just use SetFSB with PLL#: ICS9LPR363DGLF.
Thanks to kaltmond and bhattsan for the links...
Just thought I'd post it here to inform you guys.
Anyways, I just ran 3Dmark06 with a T7250 OC'd to 2,4 GHZ...I got 9750 3dmarks.
Not shabby for a T7250 CPU!
