Hows battery life for u guys? I ahve to say that for me, it was more than I expected. I got 3hrs while webbrowsing with Winamp in the Background!

hi! this is my first post. i got my sager on the 17th and it's everything i hoped it would be -- and then some. i really didn't expect it to perform as well as it does and with driver improvements still to come i figure it's only going to get better.
in terms of dead pixels, fan vibration, overly loud fan noise, gpu clock speeds, etc. i have had no issues whatsoever. i had a small bit of difficulty with a bad windows install but a reinstall resolved the matter. actually, the whole thing was my fault for playing with my robson settings while installing xp just to see how it would behave.
the one question i do have about the np5793, to which i have not yet found an answer, concerns accessing overclock options. i dug around through my bios and was surprised at how restricted my options are. but i thought i'd read an article that said something about the np5793 bios having an unlocked clock multiplier (or something along those lines). is that accurate? if so, is it going to be made available at a later date or is it only available with an extreme processor? thanks in advance!! -
Im pretty sure you needed Extreme Proccesors.
Can I post you 3dmark score on the Hall of Fame?
One other question:
Do you think my low 3d mark scores could be attributed to the fact that I am running Vista 32 SP1? -
thats too bad about needing the xtreme processors, though i can't honestly say i have a great need to overclock my laptop (though i would most likely have attempted it temporarily just to see how it would behave). mostly just curiosity.
and i certainly don't mind you posting my 3dmark results in the hall of fame. though, had i known they would be displayed in a "hall of fame" i would have performed the benchmarks without the plethora of crap i keep running in the background (daemontools, virus scanners, logitech bloatware, etc).
as for low benchmarks due to 32bit vista, i cannot say with any real confidence. my experience with vista is limited to my knee-jerk reaction to hate anything i feel that MS is trying to force down my throat (so that i can pay to act as a beta tester -- but im not bitter). -
Ok heres a battery test... from 99% to 8% in 42min with ortos and ati tool stress test... wifi on... and screen at max brightness...
not bad...
gpu and cpu was on battery mode... but the hard drive was still running, fan was in Fn+1... with my cheap usb mouse...
when the battery come back to 100% ill do a 3dmark test in battery mode... btw im using XP32 -

Overclocking will only be available for the Extreme processor.

Does anyone have any comments on the build quality? What is it on a scale on 1 to 10 if 1 is acer and 10 is a thinkpad?
Is their any keyboard flex?
Might get 1 soon... -
-
I`d give it an 8, since my HP bussiness class is a 9
-
My crap HP laptop right now has a 64MB fused to the motherboard GeForce 7150 I scored 200 in 3DMark06
-
Dude, HP bussiness class notebooks wipe the floor with most other laptops. It`s an nx9420 and feels more solid than a board.NO FLEX, no vibration,no wiggling, nothing.AFTER 2 years of use.
-
Can anyone tell me what's going on with my comp?
I have CPU set on 100% power. -
Looks like you might need to retest.
-
Is there any bloatware running?
-
-
maybe the MB doesn´t support 0.5 multiplier?
-
Don`t worry about . I have a T7500, 2.2 ghz and sometimes vista reported it as being 2.1 GHz.
Switched back to XP, I am one happy camper. EVERY GAME IS SOOOOOO SMOOTH NOW -
Just got my Sager NP5793 and I have to say it's very nice!
I don't yet have any major complaints, the fan is slightly annoying when it does a 1 second blast and gets quiet again, but honestly it's not nearly as loud as I was led to believe by the other posts complaining about fan noise. I'd be okay with it in class.
Only other problem is the odd placement of ethernet and headphone jacks, but it's not a huge deal I guess.
Screen is beautiful, no dead pixels and very minimal backlight bleeding on the bottom, but it's still pretty bright. Orange trim is nice, laptop is sturdy, and Crysis demo runs without a hitch. I used to be a Dell owner, but I have to say this laptop is at least as good as a Dell, and definitely more affordable.
Also thanks to Justin at XoticPC, he was really helpful in responding to my emails through the ordering process. Thanks Justin! -
Kevi290 , by fan speed we weren`t talking about the first kick in of the CPU fan, the noisy one for 1 second, it`s when the gpu fan starts and you can clearly hear a rush of air going out. The cpu fan has a less bothersome degree of noise, but the gpu fan, on auto mode is definitely annoying. Check your temps and see that when it hits 48 it starts yelling like a chick giving birth.
-
Haha, well I'll play with it some more, but I didn't notice any problems when playing Crysis--maybe the audio was drowning out the fan though.

Hi!
Do you think, it would be ever possible to order a Clevo M570RU with Ati Radeon HD3xxx video card? I would like to buy this laptop in march, but I don't like the Geforce 8 series, because I think the Radeons offers more battery life and would be better with dx10 games. -
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
whats backlight bleeding?
-
It is true, the nvidia cards are much faster in dx9 games. In the next generation games the radeons will be much faster. It is because the architecture of the geforces is optimized for dx9, and the radeons for dx10. Don't forget that the xbox360's xenos gpu is very similar to the radeon's r600 gpu.
-
an XBOX gpus is nothing compared to the 8800mGTX> so far ati doesnt have a good high end GPu, unless they plan a suprIse release or something
-
Bleeding occurs around the edges of your screen. You might see it for yourself. Make your room dark, and then put a black screen saver or something onto your monitor. Then, you might see some white light "bleeding" out of the edges, most typically on the bottom.
My 5793 has very little backlight bleeding, which is excellent. But it's still visible in dark room / dark screen. -
If Ati announce it in a mobility variant (they plan to do it), it would be a good alternative, having better production technology, power saving technology. I think, it would have the same gaming power as a 8800M GTX. -
Yes, and the 3870 is the Ati`s flagship card even, while Nvidia has the 8800 Gt, the 8800 GTS(512 version), the 8800 GTX and the 8800 GTX Ultra above ati`s flagship. 4 cards even better than what ati could come up with best. That says a lot.
-
I wont go back with amd/ati ... i had a old and extremely good 9700pro and that was a beast... but after that ati just go down... and down... so its intel/nvidia for me!
-
is this the right place to ask about overclocking? i would just like to play around with a few settings to see how the hardware would respond. since i am currently unable to overclock through the bios, is there a 3rd party program that's better than others i could use to change some clock speeds? or even better, is there a way to OC through a bios hack? i'm pretty handy with desktop machines but have basically no experience playing around with laptop hardware.
-
yes, but those are all DT cards. In the NB field, the best thing t have is the 2600XT, which is nothing compared 2 the 8800mGTX/GTS.
-
Right now, Nvidia is clearly more powerful, and it seems they're having better driver support too (though neither ATI or Nvidia has been keeping up on drivers very well).
But that could always change in the future, like it has in the past. Just do some research when you buy your laptop and choose the best. -
It's probably best to avoid, or at least be very careful with. Your new Sager can handle any game on the market right now, and overclocking just to get Crysis to go from "High" to "Very High" quality seems kind of unnecessary. Overclocking to get 100 frames in Oblivion as opposed to 80 is also unnecessary.
Probably nothing will go wrong, but it's still difficult to tell what kind of damage you might be causing. Also, does overclocking void a warranty? That's something to look into.
If you want to improve performance I would look at your software settings first. Anyone read TweakGuides? Koroush, the owner there, has probably the best game and operating system guides I've seen.
Read his Vista/XP guide and use it to learn about your system and also speed it up: http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html
Also read his section on overclocking, and after reading that, see if you still want to undertake it.
Whatever you decide, best of luck!
Edit: One more warning, laptops in particular are more fickle than desktops when O/Cing because they're smaller. If you're going to do it though, the Sager/Clevos seem to keep pretty cool at least -
You need an extreme proccesor to safely overclock...
-
New Wallpapers!!!
Thank MAtt from the NBR graphics team!!@!
-
My babies gone back to have its broken fan fixed...arrggghhh...no Team Fortress or Crysis for days?!?!?
-
-
I'm planning on buying one of these in a month of two so I've been reading up on them...
Just a suggestion-could you downsize the wallpapers so that you can click for full size because it's breaking tables pretty badly for me (1680*1050 here) -
hi all new to the forum infact never done this before, been pc gaming for years, dont know why i have never done this.Anyways got a new laptop from evesham-the nx680-hdx.Wow best i have yet used powerstip and got 10256 on 3d mark 06!
-
Question to any one with same or similar model, does your power brick heat up,this was before oc the gpu,Very hot is this normal?
-
hello everyone, well i am in the fold now got a laptop same model as your clevos-nx680-hdx.It is so powerful for a single gpu, also the chassis is smaller than most.I was dubious it could play crysis at high settings but wow!
1600-1200 on high 27-30 fps.
Oc with powerstrip-10256 3dmark 06.
My only gripe is the speakers not very loud nil bass.
by the way does your power adapter get very hot? -
The power brick heats up, yes. And not just a bit
-
pew thats a relief thought that mine was burning out or something, also what web driver do you use?I had to reinstall windows and now cant get the web cam to work tryied to use one from sager but no use,any takers?
-
Depends on what version u have. is it the 1.3 or 2.0?
-
Just look at your hardware devices. There should be one with an (!). I believe the 2.0MP camera is listed as USB 2.0 device. On this one use the have disk method to install the correct driver.
For this step make sure to download both the 1.3MP and 2.0MP drivers from the clevo site, unpack them in the same directory (for instance "cam drivers"), where each driver has its own sub dir.
Use the have disk method on the "cam drivers" directory and the correct driver should be installed.
If it's not the driver that's causing the problem, make sure to have your webcam turned ON with the fn+f10 combination!
Good luck, it's not that hard to get it right. -
I'm not sure how familiar you guys are with the default "Realtek HD Audio Manager" but I didn't have anything like that on my previous Dell from 3 years ago, and I started experimenting with it tonight.
If you listen to a lot of music, give this a try! Open up the audio manager (should find it in your taskbar tray), and under "Speakers" tab go to "Sound Effects" tab. You'll see different Equalizer profiles, and the default setting on mine was "none".
Since I listen to mostly progressive rock music, I switched on the "Rock" equalizer profile, and it made a huge difference! The best way I can describe, is it feels like there used to be a wall between my ear and the sound which muffled everything slightly, and switching to "Rock" removed that wall.
Again I don't know if I'm just describing what everyone already knows, but it made quite a difference to me
(Edited because the board doesn't like html angle brackets) -
