What would be considered a reasonably safe OC for a T9300 with the stock heatsink/fans and AS-5 in the M570RU-U?

It doesn't seem that temps are the limiting factor. I have the T9300 at 2.9GHz and at full load (100% in prime95) I see maybe 62C; almost the same as the stock load temps. Therefore I say go for it into the 3+GHz range; however, likely it will be ability of your RAM to OC that is your limiting factor. At 3.0 GHz I BSOD and since my 667 RAM is running at 799 at the 2.9GHz, I believe the RAM cannot go any higher.

I BSOD at 2.9GHz, but I think part of that is that the system isn't burned in yet. Once I get it properly burned in and re-install Win7 (I just dropped the HD from my old system directly into this one) I'm going to go for the gusto and try for a higher overclock.

My M570RU has made 3 years now...

It has an 8700M GT, so maybe thats why not broken yet :p

Both the CPU and GPU heat pipes where refitted on the copper contact plates with AS5 thermal glue, for better contact and heat transfer.

To cool down the right side of the restpad and improve FSB overclocking ability, I changed two times the northbridge heat sink with custom ones(first one: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/251746-how-change-chipset-heatsink-m57xru.html), the second being considerable larger, made from an ATI X800 single slot copper heat sink.

To improved the airflow, flashed with the Sager .12 BIOS version, wich has better RPM/heat management and Fn + 1 state.

A week ago ran Mafia 2 for 12 hours non stop, GPU overclocked, ambient temperatures of above 30ºC, no additional cooling. Max temp. CPU 67ºC Max temp. GPU 72ºC

    So far so good

Same here. I find the .12aSL system BIOS from Sager has far better fan control, it's quieter, and my nominal system temps are far better.

For more than three years I have been happy with my M57RU-laptop with the following specs:

    GeForce 8700M GT 512MB CAM
    CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (2.0Ghz/800Mhz/4MB)
    2x SO-DIMM DDR2 1024MB (667Mhz)

I bought this laptop because it's 1920x1200 resolution screen and videocard. I am not a heavy gamer but I sometimes have to do some Autocad-work at home so a good videocard is somewhat important to me.

In this topic I found out a lot of people have seen their laptop "die" within two or three years. Apart from an annoying fan the inside of my laptop is fine. But I do have this problem with the broken hinge:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...ficial-clevo-m57ru-faq-owners-lounge-106.html

I already contacted the seller of the laptop if they can do that for me as I can't do it myself.

Beneath the hinge-problem I have a kind of dilemma. Three years ago a 17 inch laptop was ideal for me but these days I travel a lot more in the weekends. And I am really getting tired of taking an heavy laptop like this with me every time.

That leaves me with two options:
    1) buying a small (and cheaper) laptop next to my M57RU so I can browse the net, work in Word or Excel, check email or play around with my music library
    2) try to sell my M57RU (repaired or not) and buy a small but high-end laptop like the Sony Z or the HP Envy

With option 2) the only question to ask is: can I stil sell my M57RU and which price can I get?

Option 1) is more complex. I could ask my laptop seller if they can upgrade the CPU (and RAM) of my laptop so it will still be good for the job for a few more years. But reading all the stories here I am kind of scared my M57RU will stop working in a year. And then I still have to buy a brandnew and expensive laptop to fill my Autocad-needs.

I am in doubt right now. I hope somebody here can give me a clear view on this.

Well, my M570RU-U is pretty much glued to the desk, it only ever moves if I got to a LAN (or go away for several weeks). I have a Samsung NC10 that now travels with me.

    Got a strange question...

Anyone Got a firmware update for our DVD burners? TS-L632H TMC0 beyond the TMS0? I found a firm flash for the TMC0 to S0.

Did some burning and getting a lot of coasters...

    Thanks.

Hello, this is my first post.
Recently my 1 key stopped working (the one that controls the fan)
So anytime I try to run a game it crashes. I have tried downgrading the bios back to before there was fan control,I have tried software alternatives(rivatuner,Speedfan). I removed the key and checked for problems and cleaned it. Im running out of ideas. I could care less about losing my 1 key i just need to be able to get the fans on Full.
    Any Ideas??????

    Err get a new keyboard?

Unless you mean it stopped working for that specifically. Then I recommend:
    A. going into sleep/standby and coming out again.
    B. rewiring some of your fans to USB power.

Say, could you post some sort of a guide on the heatpipe to copper contact plate refitting? I was looking at your other guides which are awesome. Refitting heatpipes however is something I have never attempted because of lack of information.

Did the AS5 thermal glue really decrease temps? I always thought that heatpipes were somehow soldered. I was thinking of using some lead-free silver solder, but I think it may be too brittle and could crack with heat.

I believe this is the part number that you are looking for - 6-31-m57rn-202 (from service manual in my sig). From that most clevo resellers should be able to get it for you. What country are you in so we might be able to recommend somewhere to try?

It looks like the barebones M570RU-U I bought from svc.com has dropped dead. I have to hold down the power button to get it to turn on and when it does the HDD & ODD lights come on and stay on and nothing else happens. Looks like a motherboard issue. I contacted OCZ and they said they're not even sure they are still providing warranty support for their products any longer and they will get back to me. Once SVC open up I will get a hold of them and find out what they suggest.

Looking for some advice. I have a M57ru that the headphone sound has gone out. The interesting thing is that when a headphone jack is plugged in I get shound thru the laptop speakers and sometimes thru the headphones if you press he jack down in the outlet. Has any one else had a similar proble and if so what was the fix?I belive that the headphone jack is attached to the motherboard and I am reluctant to take it out to look at the interals to see if it is a soder break and a motherboard replacement for sound seems pretty spendy. SO any advice or help pm or posts is greatly apperciated. Thanks.

Broken audio jack was a common problem with the M570RU. Have a look here

The CMOS battery requires considerable disassembly as it is under the palmrest. The service manual (in my sig) shows where it's connector is on the motherboard connectors page.

Sorry for my late response, didn't saw your reply.

The heatpipe is responsible for taking out the heat from your components to be dissipated in the heatsink. If you improve the heat transfers, you accelerate this process, helping taking out more heat and faster.

In this case I increased the contact zone from 1 side to 4 sides and rounded borders. The stock fitting use some kind of hard solder, maybe silver alloy(any silver alloy should yield good against thermal cycling). Refitting it in the true sense of the word don't worth the work. You would need a good blowtorch and some expensive high silver % solder, to improve anything above the base welding. Artic Silver Thermal Epoxy should be almost as good as silver itself.

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos during its application process, so I made this schematic to help explaining what I did:

From an 10mm high aluminum block I opened a space for the heatpipe. Then I applied some AS Epoxy on both sides and glue them together with two mole wrenches.

The heat should now pass thought the aluminum block to the heatpipe, where previously there was only air.

I did this only in the CPU heatpipe, but I will do it to the GPU heatpipes too in the near future. I'm plannig to buy one 3700M(maybe from you ;) ) to substitute my good old 8700M, and because I need to mod the 8700M housing plates, to correct the off-size VRAM holes, I will do all at once.

Does anyone have a faulty M570RU-U and would be willing to sell it. I'm looking for a budget way to update my 570RU into a 570TU, so I am particularly interested in:

    M570RU-U CPU heatsink

and 1920X1200 screen, cause mine is totally dying...

That heatsink will fit?? I thought the RU had a 3 screw heatsink, not 4.

I do have these parts... but I'll probably keep them.

Except for the screen. I can definitely sell you one.
Whats wrong with your current one, how is it "dying"? I can take it off your hands, i like to fix screens.
But yea I have a very new 1920x1200 17" screen. PM me if you're interested.

I want to convert RU to TU, so buy a M570TU motherboard and put it inside RU "chassis". That is why I am looking for RU-U heatsink and back bay cover. The screen has ~10 vertical cyan, yellow or pink lines all over it...

as niffcreature said, the M570RU(U) heatsink has 3 screws, the TU mobo will have 4 mounting holes, so no go there, you will need a TU heatsink. You will also need to dremel out some extra holes in the chassis due to the addition of HDMI (and I think there was something else too but I forget...)

Ow... I thought the M570RU-U heatsink was the same as in M570TU. I have already taken the thing apart just for fun, so adding some holes is not a big thing. Just acquiring all the parts at reasonable price seems to be an issue.

A while ago I got a quote from clevo-computer.de that they would upgrade my M570RU to M570TU for 370 € without shipping. This includes the new motherboard and a new 1920x1200 screen. CPU,RAM,HDD,GPU stays the same (of course RAMs are incompatible). I just had to send them my M570RU, but did not have funds at the time and all this sending without any warranty seemed a bit risky...

Ok, so quick question, I have been recenetly having problems with my m570ru. It doesn't seem to be very consistent in any games that I play. It will be fine for like 60% of the time and the other 40% of the time, it lags. All games, even non-intensive ones such as NBA 2k11, have this problem. What can I do to fix it? Is the BIOS an issue (I haven't updated BIOS since I got the laptop...)

    Specs are X7900/8800m GTX/ 4GB RAM/ 200 GB 7200 RPM HDD

    Thanks,
    Vedya
