He's referring to something he doesn't know much about. The problem cards were the 8400/8600. Pay him no mind.

    Congratulations on your purchase! :)

i think the 8800m gtx is the best ever mobile gpu that nvidia has come out with.

even after 2 and 1/2 years that cards still a beast

I agree.. It's sad they've had 2 1/2 years to improve, and haven't done much since.

well thanks to nvidias mobile rebranding strategy. its what i call resting on your laurels.
but thanks to competition from ati and the seeming failure to push the nvidia ion cpu due to legal issues and the lack of interest with tegra, i think nvidia realizes that gpu's will remain their numero uno products for a long time to come.
they better shape up though and come out with something worthwhile in 2010 - as long as its backwards compatible with mxm3 :)

I thought he might be talking out of a certain place.....

Cheers, it does seem like a excellent machine, quite a jump from a acer 6290g with a 9500M GS. :D

    thats incorrect.

the G92M (which is the basis for the 8800M/9800M/GTX 260M/280M) does not have any issues with overheating.

it was the 8400M and 8600M that was known for the overheating defect.

    Hey,

Ok, so along with our new HDTV came a handy DVI to HDMI converter. However, when I use the converter, I cannot see my computer on the TV. My TV Model is Sony KDL-52W4150. What do I do to configure the Computer/TV? My display is present through S-video but not HDMi.

    THanks.

    yes switch to 64-bit.....................

I just put a T9300 in my machine right this minute and i have it over clocked to 3.2ghz with SetFSB. what temps should i look for to be safe? i used AS5 when mounting it... and should I undervolt it? also what are some programs i can use to test the stability of my over clock ive usually been pretty conservative but i want to push this baby....

    thanks guys!

Keep trying, you're almost level with me ;)

If you're OVERclocking, you're unlikely to be able to UNDERvolt without stability issues, use programs such as Prime95 and OCCT to test OC stability.

thanx mate nice score you are creeping up on me,but i think its my x9000 that helps alot,as well as drivers i am using 179.48 good performance and low temps.
Is it easy to change the vbios clocks is it via flashing? Its a pitty we cant use the 9800m gtx or the 280m gtx in our lappys, but this runs all games very well

Read the bios in nibitor and you can change the volts and clock. Flash the bios under dos, so you need a bootable usb stick or cd with nvflash and the bios on it. Whats your current bios nr?

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=246530

Yes a 280GTX would be a nice upgrade, but i think its only possible with a 570TU mobo!?

Is 179.48 better than the 185.85 dox driver for the 8800m GTX?

Hi guys, yes my poor old m1710 did die on me and i am not to sure how to dissasemble it to bake the gpu.I instead got another 2 years warrenty so soon i will get the gpu replaced.
I have tried loads of times to flash my 8800m gtx but cant do it,I dont suppose u still have the disc benjimin ?That u flashed with, maybe u would post it to me?

As for the other guy asking about upgrading our machines i think we can only upgrade the hdd now if we have the x9000 and 8800m gtx.But i think it may take a 260-280 if i had the cash i would try.

Yeah when you stil have warrenty let them repair or replace the card.

I flash with a usb stick. When you follow the link above on how to make a bootable usb stick then its very easy! Then download nvflash and extract it and copy the files, cwsdpmi and nvflash, to the usb stick with the new bios and a backup old bios.
    Use winrar to extract nvflash.
Put bios files and nvflash in a map called clevo on the usb stick.

Boot the usb stick and your in dos, then type cd\cevo (enter),
    then type nvflash -4 -5 -6 yournewbiosname.rom (enter)
Type Y Y and wait till its done.

Do not call the bios name longer than 7 caracter, dos can not work with it or something like that :D .

I did not ever flash my vbios with a disc but it should work! I only flash the mobo bios with a disc because the are iso files.

    Hello,

First time poster here. My brother owns the Evesham (RIP) version of the M57RU (2007 Model Orange trim). Sadly both hinges have just snapped. I was attempting to email Evesham when I discovered they have gone in to liquidation. So no chance of repair :p Anyhow, having googled my way here I note it is a Clevo in disguse. Could any of you owners please point me to a service manual (such as those that exist for thinkpads which details the procedure for disassembly and reassembly) As we live out in the boonies I shall have to epoxy the hinges myself but it would be made far easier by locating such a manual!

    EDIT
Scratch that /r for a manual, a friend has pointed me in the right direction. The pressing issue really now in his opinion is to locate replacement hinges. Does anyone have any idea regarding this? Thanks!

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards,

    Mike.

The service manual is in my sig anyway, but contact any clevo reseller (look at the clevo guide thread sticky) and they should be able to sort you out with new hinges.

I have both the manual and also a representative which I am now in contact with to supply my hinges. Super helpful forum which I will be keeping bookmarked from now on!

Well that sux the 8800m gtx is still very good but is starting to show its age,But if i can figure out this bios oc then it should give me a bit more oomph.

I still think a 260 would fit but i dont have £400 to experiment with, cause nobody on these forums have actualy tried it.Just quoting what the manufacures said.

Maybe, no one in the NR forum tried swapping these GPU's, but according to www.mxm-upgrade.com, GTX260 and GTX280 should be compatible with the 570RU- M570TU models.

I'm going to order this barebones w/8800M GTX.

What cpu do you guys recommend? I suppose some of you have tried the "extreme", penyrn, merom etc... what is overkill and what will bottleneck the 8800M?

I think the 2.4Ghz T8300 Penyrn should be ok for 2007-2008 titles (which I have not played).
