Sager has not released the NP9850 yet. I called today on my order to find out what the deal was and if there was any timeframe yet. I was informed the delay is due to subpar performance in Sagers pre-release testing so they are working with Nvidia and Clevo to find out why and will not release it till it's at the performance they feel it should be. Anyone else hear something that's ordered a Sager NP9850?

ummm,. yes. alot of people have. but not in the us.
i thought you were going to get a m17x? -

pm'd becasue of the thread we are in.

Strange. Then why are other resellers shipping?
-
Mine arrives this morning
-
from which reseller?
-
Don't know but maybe Sager changed something in their bios or drivers. Not sure but I read the same thing posted on exoticpc's forum. It mentioned specifically Sager finding in game studdering while testing gaming performance.
-
Seems kind of late in the game to find game stuttering. With people getting the M980 these NP9850s should be shipping by now. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
-
Well I got mine over 2 weeks ago, I haven't had any problems other then a faulty optical drive which isn't anyones fault.
For them to say they have performance issues is worrying!
Mine is keeping up with yhe m17x no problems, got
higher scores then all except drake -
Yeah true it is late in the game (no pun).
I'd like to know what game was stuttering or how it's being tested. Then someone could run the same test on the M980 but I'm sure they are already doing that as I was told Nvidia and Clevo are involved in resolving this. -
No worries - I think that's why it's a BIOS issue rather than a design issue. Time will tell when ppl start getting the sager model NP9850 and then it can be benched and compared to the M980.
It's just frustrating when you were expecting something early August and now it's mid August and I don't expect it to arrive till late August or later? (hope not).
Here's the real sad part
I'll only see it to configure it, test it, (and support) before it goes off to school with my nephew which is next week.
So it's a good thing it's going to be delivered later cause now he will have it until he comes home so I can play...
-
Mine shipped from RJTech, so it's a Clevo.
-
Justin posted that info and it is my understanding that he knows his stuff.
I am sure Sager told him that, but I can’t believe that Sager would change the Bios or any Drivers, causing the stuttering issue, after they delayed the system for this long. Why anger the Masses that have been waiting for their machines for far too long already?
I referenced this forum in my posts on the XPC forum. I really appreciate all the posts here about this system. Especially since it looks as if my machine will not arrive for another month or so. (Exaggerating the time-Just feels like that...or am I?). I am thinking about cancelling my order and going with the 17x. Someone stop me please. -
I'm in the same boat as station...wondering if m17x is the better choice. someone help!
-
Don't change your mind on which system because of a delay in getting it. Just wait it out. I'm sure if you preferred the M17x you would have ordered it.
-
What's up Law. Did you find your way here from the other forum?
-
yeah it's just these "stuttering issues" have me concerned...
-
Sure did! Started looking at the 17x after those last couple of posts on xotic!
-
It is basically the same isn't it? I just love Sager and Clevo. They have a quality product that is most alwayse solid. The real reason I am leaning torward the Sager ATM is because the warranty is not voided swapping components and it is like 3 years standard call in 1 year parts. I am not the type to call in on a problem, but if something physical breaks in a year it is nice not to have to pay for it. I just hate that we have to wait.
On the M17x I think that I could live with it... -
i wonder if its a smoke screen to cover up the waiting for the 3mp webcam while a lot of other countrys went for the 2mp webcam.
-
i dont know which one mine has lol
But if the system is stable as i have received it, there is nothing wrong with clevos machine, only what Sager have done to it -
youve got the 2mp camera pman. otherwise you would still be waiting it seems.
-
When I ordered mine I paid for a 2mp webcam so I am sure they would not delay it for that. Sager must have screwed the pooch on the drivers or the Bios. If they tried to use the Beta Bios that is rumored that could have done it. What a shame!

hi guys,
got my m980 at last
i may do a mini review if theres interest.
however i cannot seem to oc the qx9300 at all using nst
pman which version are you using? -
i'll ask andy he might know
-
6.05
10 char -
And in fairness if you ordered an M17x today it would probably take a while for delivery.
-
3-4 weeks uk delivery atm
-
me too
have to say you were right about the screen - amazing, best i've ever had. no bleed at all, more than bright enough (even in direct light), and the colour is fantastic
speakers were quiet at first when playing an mp3 through windows media player, but once i changed the setup to fill the speakers with stereo sound they blow you away, also when using vlc the surround really sounds nice, loud and clear
the only real negatives for me are the fan noise and the power brick. I wouldn't call it loud, but its definately louder than most. the silence mode works to get it at the lower/quietest speed - but its not silent
- pity because it runs so cool, you wouldn't think it would need it.
at full speed its not much louder at all though which is good.
the powerbrick is just poor design. the cable that attaches from the brick to the machine is far too short meaning you can't hide the monster away
other than that - a fantastic machine. really chuffed. -
any ideas why the nst isn't working?
i'm only trying to increase the cpu speed atm as its the extreme version. -
Dell doesn't void the warranty on swapped parts. I've been a Dell owner for a while and never had issues with them wanting to void a warranty. The complete care warranty is the reason I prefer to get Dell. I don't have to worry about a dead pixel or a poorly illuminated screen. Dell will replace it right away. Even if I throw it down the stairs or spill coffee on it, it's all covered. The only extra charge is the warranty, $69.
The biggest differences is the looks and overall size. The Clevo/Sager comes with a third hdd option and the M17x comes with the hybrid graphics option. They are very close systems. -
What part of NST isn't working? Did you get the 1066 memory or the 1333 memory?
-
1333 mem
10 char -
Pman is using 1066 memory so his systems memory dividers is 1:2.
Do you have the ability to change the bus speed but it just freezes or does the option not even exist? -
i have the option, i was setting it around 300/301/303 as he said earlier thats where he was stable, but it just locks up.
i have managed to set it to 284 now and it took
i'll slowly increase it to see where it freezes.
is there anything else i can do ? i.e. motherboard settings ? -
Pman will be able to get it higher because the system likes the 1:2 fsb:mem ratio. If you look at cpu-z and click on the memory tab it will show your ratio. I find the M17x to be the same way. I get the most stability and higher clocks keeping my memory and fsb linked at 1:2.
2.7Ghz is still better than nothing. Until you can change the speed of your memory you are going to be limited. -
yip mine says 4:10
i've got it upto 287, but at 291 it freezes
shouldn't a faster memory allow higher oc's
or is this where the unlocked bios would help?
-
It's where the unlocked bios helps. The advantage of 1333 memory over 1066 memory is better timings at higher speeds.
-
What settings exactly did you change for the speakers to sound better?
-
How large is the brick. I've heard it's large but how large? Pictures?
-
the speaker fill option in the sound enhancements tab (sound properties)
-
I strongly considered the M17x, but going from a 15.4" screen to a 17" wasn't much of a gain as I really wanted the 18" screen and I love it. The design on the M17x isn't bad, but the thrill of all the colored variations of lights would wear off pretty fast.
I don't think the M17x is without its own problems. -
7 3/4 x 3 1/4 x 1 3/4 inches
-
It would be impossible to find a system without problems. Making sure you trust the company and the warranties they provide is very important.

Thanks Daz

Xotic PC just needs to lock down a date, period. I am not going to go with the 17x series mainly because I dont want to have to cancel orders and reorder from a different vendor but Jesus. It is a small request. I think Sager implemented a varient of the beta bios causing issue. That is my theory (Conspiracy). Possible unlocking the OC'ing everyone wanted. I personally do not care at this point, I just want my PC. Wanted it 2 days ago... I am going to call Xotic PC now to see if I can get any more information.
