Yes, I used to have it as well at the beginning when I got my laptop. But sometime ago it just... disappeared. Have no idea what I did.
-
after a fresh windows install this problem is gone also its not happening in windows safe mode one more indicator that this problem is an driver and/or application issue. i couldn't identifiy the driver or application which causes the problem ;(
-
Im pretty sure its a nvidia driver issue with certain releases.
-
i tried installing latest nvidia driver with modded inf on a fresh installation and couldnt provoke the failure again..
seems like i rely have to do a complete new windows installation when i wanna get ridd of this issue -
-
good news... i found out what was the issue
brownstonemr you were acutally right
i normaly use latest driver from the nvidia homepage for desktop cards with an modded inf file from laptopvideo2go... seems this connections doesnt like it very much when i pull out my power supply.
with standard nvidia drivers from sager it works with no problems
id like to test latest beta laptop driver from nvidia but i cant install them somehow they tell me i have no supported card although i hav an 9800m gtx...
geetings flode
edit:
i used modded inf for latest nvidia mobile drivers from laptopvideo2go
works now fine
was hard work to find out what causes the problem but thats whats fun working with computers -

I can't believe that there actually is a silent mode/quiet mode on the M570TU that I have never found... I just never bothered to try out the shortcut buttons up there. The lack of a silent mode was perhaps the one thing I was initially disappointed about concerning this laptop. Thanks for the tip guys! Is the function depending on a driver or does it work system wide? (I.e. in BIOS and any OS.)
-
Hello ThmsLngbrd, yes the sielnt mode is a nice thing. At my system (m570tu) it works system wide. i can use it trough windows setup or in dos mode.
but only in windows with installted hotkey addon it displays you a massage which mode has been activated.
greetings flode -
-
Is this "Silent mode" on the M570TU the same as FN+3 on the older M570RU?
-
Just wanted to mention that I'd said before I was going to try and
install XP 32 bit on the 5797 with the 280m that I'm getting barebones....
But there was some debate over if there would be drivers for it...
Dox's set here at laptopvideo2go evidently supports the 280m gtx now for
mobile systems and there's a Win XP driver set... so hopefully it'll all be good to go.

Figured I'd mention it just in case someone else is doing the same thing. -

Thanks theriko. Any update on TM support for win7?
-
Yes, TM support for win7 would be great. I hope for good news.
-
Surprisingly it will start up and try to work, but it will soon freeze your laptop when it will try actually put programs on to the memory ( I think).
Considering that in the previous builds it will not start up at all it is likely that in the future builds it might just be fully working. I will soon try the 707x build. -
Hi!
I am thinking of buying a notebook cooler for my Sager np5796, what would you recommend? I am thinking about Aeolus CP001G-B, has any1 tried it yet?
My other question is that, can every 9800M GT overclock to the same frequencies? If yes can any1 link a BIOS with stable clocks? If no, can some1 link me a guide which helps me OC my 9800M GT? I tried it once, but NVidia Bios editor did not recognize it + how can I easily test the frequencies I set? (Because I would not like to flash my GPU 10x times to find the correct feqs) -
I think it´s a good cooler. Planning to buy one but too expensive for me here in EU.
-
Hey guys,
im realy impr3essed about some notebooks with new ati 4850 mobile in it. they get 3dmark 06 scores like the nvidia 9800m gtx. thats insane when you look at the prices. and the top thing is the 4870 didnt even hit the market.
so i wanna know will it be possible to upgrade m570tu (9800m gtx inside atm) to a ati 4870 mobile?
greetings from germany

can any1 recommend some stable freqs for 9800M GT? (that does not need volt tweaking)
-

I bought this one, very good cooling for my M86.

Hi guys, I just bought the 5797 this past week and am waiting for it to arrive! I was just wondering what you guys thought of the built in webcam/mic and how good you'd say they are. What kind of resolution it can output and all that.
-
-
What's the best driver for Gforce 9800GTX for vista 64bit in NP5797 now? TIA
-
CosmicJC: The webcam is pretty decent in my opinion. The resolution is high, but as with most webcams it doesn't handle low light environments very well. Unfortunately I don't have access to my dear M570 right now, or I would have posted a snapshot from it.
-
-
Hey nolem, yeah the dox 185.68 drivers are great with my 9800m gtx and HDMI also works. I would recommend uninstalling your current ones then rebooting into safe mode and running a program called driver sweeper to get the old display drivers off.
-
Since I'll probably be getting my unit first (tomorrow) of the 5797s... what apps do you guys want run as benchmarks?
I'll be putting Win XP on the machine, and don't have any games to speak of since I mostly game on XBL. Freeware and demos I can handle though.
Plus I won't be able to do it until the end of the week, but I'd like to do a side by side comparison between the 9262 and the 5797 and add that to my review. I'll also be reviewing PCtorque and Xotic due to both purchases. Probably have an unboxing as well.
So tell me what you want to see... -

Okay. I just finished my crazy heatsink mod on my machine. It took me forever to line up the little copper blocks given the little clearance inside of the case. I'll probably have some numbers up later on during the week, but so far all I can say is it runs a little cooler at idle ontop of my NC2000 (fans off) to the point where the CPU and GPU fan no longer spin up for a few seconds every 5 minutes or so. But the biggest benefit in temperature is at full load. My GPU flatlines at 67-68 degrees after 20 minutes on Furmark and my CPU hits a plateau of 74-75 degrees across all four cores after 20 minutes on Orthos. Ambient temperature is ~68*F right now. More details will come later when I have time.

Wow... Thats pretty cool Mr. Sunrise. I've been wanting to do this for a while! Glad to see you'd finally done it. DO you by chance happen to have the temps before the mod?
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I don't have screenshots of my temps before the overhaul unfortunately. I've had the majority of this mod installed since the beginning of March and I decided to wait until I completed the entire mod before I disclosed it here. The black heatsinks that I waited about a month for arrived in my PO box today; those Royal Air postmen are always on strike.
If I could remember back in early March, my GPU idle temps used to hang around the fan threshhold; the temperature would hit 42 degrees and fan would kick in and, for a few seconds, drop the temps back to 38 and turn off and my temps would slowly go back to 42 after about five minutes or so. My GPU was not overclocked at the time I began the mod so unfortunately I can't give you a very accurate temperature range.
My CPU temps before the mod used to flatline around 83 degrees, which is still very modest for a mildly overclocked QX9300. And now it never exceeds 75 degrees under Orthos.
The benefits of this overhaul are slightly lower idle temps and moderately lower load temps. This mod also benefits greatly from a notebook cooler because there is more surface area and mass for cool air coming in through the CPU and GPU vents. This means that the main fans won't have to work as hard as the components' heatsinks are now less dependent on them. This also makes silent mode less of a worry when you're pushing the machine.
The only con that I can think of is that the system weighs even more like a block of cement. As you can see in the picture, I used 40 copper blocks, each one of them weighing a whopping 10g each. I don't know how much the 16 aluminium blocks weigh, but I am going to assume no more than 2g each. So that's 432g, or 0.95lbs more weight.
Aside from adding the new heatsinks, the face of my CPU and GPU heatplates were lapped and polished with 2000, 2500, and 3000 grit sandpaper and then finished off with Flitz rubbing compound. I recently made the switch from AS5 to MX-2 after I finished transfering all my data from my beloved M38AW to this machine, so I think the thermal compound also contributed to lowering the temps.
My 9800M GTX is currently clocked at 600/1500/900 @ 1v. I know that I can easily kick up the clocks much higher with the new heatsinks to the point where the card will fail to go any higher before the temps hit TJ max. But I don't need the extra performance beyond my current clocks so I will not be making any effort to go up to 625/1663/950 or higher. -
Looks great. Nice Job. Too bad for the extra weight, but you can't have them all.
The temp now on the CPU is very good.
I remember when I used to test BIOSes on my video card, I found out that
the one with 1.0 voltage keeps the card really cool. But I had trouble when playing games, for example in world in conflict it will sometimes crash, increasing the voltage to 1.05 solved the issue. -

I'm suprised nobody has commented on that youtube video...

Sorry if I am not posting in the correct thread. But I still can't figure out something and I've been looking all over the place.
I was wondering, if quads know how to shut down their cores on battery. To be more clear. A quad is basically two dual cores of about 25W on one chip, you can see that from the pictures. So when I run the laptop on battery is the quad smart enough to shut down one of the dual cores and work just with one, maybe even with a lower multiplier. Cause if this is the case, then there should be no noticeable difference in terms of battery life between a quad and a P-series CPU right ?
It is likely that this is not the case, because otherwise Intel would have advertised it all over the place. But still, maybe someone with a quad can shed more light. -
Is it possible to replace the 9800M GT with the new 280M card?
-
-
that sounds sweet. Where would one go to aquire one?

I think www.rjtech.com has them up for sale in their Notebook Parts section.... page 2 -
Hi!
I updated my np5796 BIOS to .12 and FN+12 doesn't turn Bluetooth on anymore, did they move it to another button?
edit: never mind, just needed a restart. -
Ive the .12 too but i hate the bootscreen. "Bilinea"
Can u upload your .12 Bios and the EC ? -

ordered mine Friday ^^

Afternoon, all.
I'm contemplating purchasing a 5797. I do game some, with Oblivion and Fallout being the most resource hungry. Unfortunately, my funds are limited to $2K. I'm trying to figure out whether to purchase the Intel P9600 Core 2 Duo, at 2.66gHz, or the Intel Q9000 Core 2 Quad at 2.0gHz. I'll be getting 4gb main memory and adding the nVidia GTX 250M graphics card w/1gb.
I believe that right now the P9600 is faster doing what I want to do, but is the quad more future-proof? How much of a realistic option is getting the Duo now, with the intention of upgrading to a Quad once they become a little cheaper? I ask this because Newegg doesn't list any mobility Quads right now.
Thanks for any and all replies.

This should help. ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=360481).

I would honestly go with the 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo processor. Its plenty fast for both of those games. Here's the specs of the one I ordered. I'm a heavy gamer, so I needed a laptop with power.
1 x NP5797
- Chassis Color: Orange Trim
- Display: 17" Wide Viewing Angles WSXGA+ LCD with Super Glossy Surface (1680 x 1050)
- Processor: 45nm Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9550 / 6MB L2 Cache, 2.66GHz, 1066MHz FSB[+$130.00]
- Video & Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory
- Operating System: Genuine MS Windows® XP Professional[+$45.00]
- Memory: 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 2 X 2048MB[+$50.00]
- Primary Hard Disk Drive: 320GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive[+$45.00]
- Optical Drive: 8X DVD±R/RW/4X +DL Super-Multi Drive & Software
- Wireless Network Card: Intel Wi-Fi Link 5300AGN - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module
- Bluetooth: Internal Bluetooth V2.0 + EDR Module
- Primary Battery: Smart Li-ION Battery Pack
- Integrated Security Device: Fingerprint Reader
- Microsoft Office: Microsoft Office Ready with Free 60-Day Trial
- Warranty: Sager 1 Year Limited Parts and Labor Warranty with Three-Day Shipping Both Ways Paid

$2,069.00
You could always not downgrade to WinXp (-$45) and get a smaller hard drive (250GB), which is probably another -$50, and that would pull the price to just below 2k. -
