Is it neccasery for the VGA to work correctly for the VGA cooler to spin up? CPU cooler turned on, but the VGA cooler did not...is this because the vga is not working correclty? (Windows can't even boot up...last time I checked before the VGA completely died, it was 69C)

I'm trying to get my hands on a M570ETU barebones, but it looks like RJTech isn't carrying it anymore and neither is R&K Computers. Anyone know of a place or someone who might be selling one?

3dmark06 is heavily CPU dependent and it also matters what drivers you use. The latest mobile drivers from nvidia are just horrible for benchmarking.
Part of the reason I've moved on to Vantage.

I have a T9400 2.53ghz, 2gb ram. I'm not sure which version of 3D mark are they using tho

@DRevan. According to them it was $550 last week. but I had them to upgrade it on the day i found out RJtech jacked up the price. hope sager won't do the same.

Ok, I called Sager's sales at 800-669-1624 and managed to order the
GTX280M video card. It was $555 + $24 for UPS ground shipping. Still a better price than RJ Tech!

Glad I got a better CSR (Frank) this time.

Can someone please tell me exactly the fastest type of RAM that the 5796 can use (and benefit from)?
The service manual says that 1066 is the highest supported speed, but it also says that the max memory is 4 GB, so that can't be right.

I am trying to decide between these 2 sets of G-Skill RAM:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231294
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231295
I can't tell if they are dual channel - most RAM seems to say dual channel in its description somewhere.

The second ones at 400 USD are normal speed rams. The fastest rams are Kingstone's HyperX.

Kingston doesn't make 4 Gig sticks though. Guess I should mention that I want to have 8 total Gigs of RAM.

Kingston makes 4GB sticks, though at a high price. What do you plan to be doing with 8GB, eastx?

Oh, I just thought it'd be nice to max out the notebook. I know it's not really necessary, but it'd still be cool.

About the Kingston sticks, I meant HyperX DDR3 sticks. I didn't see any listed on their product page.

If you don't think it's a horrible idea to step up to 8 gigs, Soviet, can you recommend the ideal stats to look for?

8GB is useless if you just use your laptop for gaming. 4GB is enough.

Memory timings should be the last thing on your "to do" list when shopping for memory. 8GB will forever be better than 4GB with twice ticked down timings. Only pro apps require a large availability of memory. In your case, you have absolutely no need for it given the price that it is going for right now.

??what is the max Ram of our Notebooks? i think 6GB not more.
    two quest.:
why should he buy 8gb, as far he can only use 4gb-6gb!

    Win 7 supports max 192GB
Starter: 8GB (Trail or upgrade Version of Vista for 25$)
    Home Basic: 8GB
    Home Premium: 16GB (Quadcore needed)
Professional: 192GB (i7 with Turboboost needed or sim.)
Enterprise: 192GB (i7 with Turboboost needed or sim.)
Ultimate: 192GB (i7 with Turboboost needed or sim.)

the other is, the price for ram is not very stable, now he will pay 600$ for this and in a few week maybe 450$ and so on.

is like DRevan say, useless if you just use your laptop for gaming! you have a good ram then only change if you reach his limits.

The maximum amount of RAM that the chipset on our M570TU's can see is 6.8GB with the proper OS. The only way eastx can reach that is by buying an 8GB kit.

It is up to eastx to decide how to spend his money. Like I said before, I really do not think it is worth it right now as he doesn't have any issues running his stuff with 4GB. When the price of 4GB sticks lowers after Christmas, then maybe he may want to consider investing in 8GB again.

I do use my notebook for things other than gaming - PhotoShop, for instance. I don't use my desktop at all these days. But if prices are going to shoot down in January, I can certainly wait.

Since my video card is about to be maxed out, I guess the only other upgrade I can do in the meantime is replacing my optical drive with a hard drive. Will there be any issues putting an SSD in its place?

Seems like I'm gonna order a GTX 260M for my m570TU from Eurocom...communication with Sager and expesially Eurocom is really good, but some resellers (mainly Europeans) are like if they didnt even want to make money...a lot of them didnt even write back when I asked about 280M and 1 of them was a bit slow with e-mails and not rly 100% sure about what I even want...for example a German reseller (only 1 who even responded my e-mail lol) sad that they only have GTX 280M Type 3 VGA in stock, I wrote back "Ok, you mean MXM 2.1 Type 3 or MXM 3.0?" and if they like didn't even know what am I talking about :/

ps: Does any1 know that m570TU Sager BIOS 1.00.17 LS3+1.00.10S EC contains 260M support? Or only 280M?

I think the Bios should support all MXM III Card´s. And you could also update to Bios 18 EC 12. Biosfile linked by "leslievw"
    http://rapidshare.com/files/292504925/BIOS18_EC12.rar

on Notebookcheck is written that gtx 260m and 9800m gt has the same MXM Port.
    gtx 260m

    9800m gt
    http://www.notebookcheck.com/NVIDIA-GeForce-9800M-GT.9892.0.html

Hey, i checked the Eurocom Homepage.
Was so easy. Go to Upgradecenter, choose EUROCOM M570TU Montebello there you have VGA upgrade with 260 280 ........

    gtx 260m with shipping to Europe 487€, gtx 280m 557€ / 70€ i would take the gtx 280m

Yes I know, Eurocom sad m570TU supports 260M and even have proper heatsink for it. I was asking that does 1.00.17 LS3 BIOS +1.00.10S EC support 260M because updating my system BIOS is a big risk for me at the moment because my 9800M GT is very unstable and if it would make the laptop crash during BIOS update, than that would not be good so if the mentioned BIOS have allready 260M support, I wouldn't risk a BIOS update.

ps: If I would even take the chance to update my system BIOS, will the update write on the VGA? If it does than the chance of the vga to crash would incrase dramatically :/

Then remove your GPU and flash your system BIOS blind. I've done it before.

1.00.16 has support for both the GTX 280M and the GTX 260M. You have 1.00.17 so you don't need to update to drop in the GTX 260M.

I bought mine from Prostar. They didn't want to discuss bios unless I actually had a problem.
They all like to take your money and not hear from you again (unless you're calling about issues under warranty). I guess I can't blame them.

Regardless, I've updated my bios several times as well as the EC firmware (thank you all on these forums!). I was hoping it would fix some minor glitches, but so far, everything runs the same weather I did the updates or not.
I'm very very happy with this model anyway.

It's a risk I was willing to take. How about you?

Technically, they are obligated under warranty to give you the latest BIOS if you request it from them. But this is interesting. Maybe the guy that replied to your request was having a bad day.

Stock clocks are 583/1450/800. Yes, it is okay to put AS5 or NT-H1 on the GPU die. Just be careful during application as AS5 is capacitive.

I've tried pheonix bios editor 2.2.0.1 and it doesn't work with the current BIOS, gives an: error BACs not found! . I heared that the Pheonix BIOS editor only works with older Pheonix BIOS. But maybe I was using the wrong program or I was doing something wrong, that's why I am asking around here.
