Try Kobalt. Shoot them a PM and see if they have any left.

Is it normal for Speedstep to be stuck at 6.0X when running on battery?

I have a P9700 2.8GHz but it never goes past 1.6GHz when on battery, even at 100% usage.

    I'm running Win7 x64.

I think the default power saver setting for the CPU are 50% on maximum processor state. Change it, and you should be fine, and the battery empty in a second or two :)

Jep. me too. klick on the batterysymbol. you can chose between different energieplans.

    Balanced
    Energysaver
    High Performance (or else)

by using the battery on Balanced and Energysaver you multiplier is set on the lowest count 6.0x

This only changed if its needed by running highperformace prog. like games or 3dmark.....

You can personalize your setting for every Energyplan, like you want.

    hope that helps a bit.

It runs at 6x when there isn`t any need for full speed. Try orthos or something to see if the multiplier increases.

Yeah. set the plan to highperformance on Batterymode and you will see your multiplier increases.

    @maydax
Hey i saw your run the same CPU like me, but thees clock you use are not stable on my system. do you have 512MB or 1024MB and what driver do you have.

    I have 512MB and 191.07

Tried that too, still won't go any higher than 6.0X.

    I have a GTX 280M, 1024MB running 186.81 all stock.

Thx. Sorry my mistake. ment Eivind.

Ok tried by myself and also hang at 6.0x !

If you realy need 11.0x at Batterymode you can do it with Programms like RMclock or CrystalCPUIDx64 that works.

Windows7 update asked to download new drivers for turbo memory I installed it and it's only trouble: system hangs, turbo memory isnt recognized etc.
I was using older drivers and it was np running those on win 7 anyone else have this same problem?

New Driver by Microsoft didn´t mean thats the best for your system.
have the same problem with my Tv-Tuner and my Fingerprint-Hardware.
If you wanne have real fun try the GPU-Driver which is Win 7 offering for you system. lol

    Hi!
I was playing a game when suddenly the screen got really colorfull and I got BSOD and now after a 1-2 min when I start a game (even with new driver) I get the same thing...screen gets colorful and BSOD...think my 9800M GT died ? (Temp seems ok, but I cleaned out the gpu fan quite long time tho)

(GPU-z still writes every info correctly)

Sounds like a case of bad vRAM. Run a video memory test like OCCTP GPU test for example. See what happens. But yeah, it seems like it's dead -> the worst that can happen :(.

What settings did you use? May you also provide a screenshot? Also, what drivers are you using, and are you overclocked?

If your GPU memory fails VMT on a stable set of drivers and at factory clocks, then your GPU is dying.

I have one more remedy for you: clean out the GPU socket and connector and reseat the card. If you still get errors after that, then your 9800M GT is dying.

Ok I will try that, thx.

Another thing. I am also considering buying a GTX 280M, but I can't stop thinking about the reason why the 9800M is dying...
    I've got a few ideas:
-OC: I runned the 9800M GT on higher voltage for a few months, but on stock clocks, only runed it on higher clocks for a few hours (I set back the voltage months ago)

-faulty motherboard or AC adapter sent more voltage and killed the memories on the card

-It is normal after 1 year of intensive gaming for a 65nm card to give up

    -Really bad luck

Which one do you guys think? I'm worried about this mostly because if I buy a new GTX 280M, I would not like that to die too :/

But you´ve get a Point, i had too change my GPU 4 weeks ago after 9 month, did not overclock?? mystery

the only way we gonna realy know is a check by nvidia´s hardwarecenter.

hmm, seems like the GTX 260M is much much cheaper than 280M...think m570TU could handle a GTX 260M? Or 260M is only solld for M860TU?

The 260M is sweet too. Lower therms too. Tough choice, but if you want the best of the best... 280M is the way to go I'd think. Hence my hesitation of which of the two.
I really wish they'd hurry up with the next gen so we can see what's up their sleeves.

Thanks for recommending me, RealMJtm and Soviet Sunrise.

Guitar23801 may be buying my card. The only hitch is that he's putting it in a Sager9262 as a second card (SLi) so it won't work unless he can find an appropriate heatsink/mounting bracket for it. If he's unable to purchase the needed parts, I'll mention it here.

Yeah, raising the price on aging hardware (the GTX 280M) is somewhere between evil and just too evil.

It sounds like Sager has it for slightly less, if you can actually convince them to sell you one (their customer service is a mess, even without the language issues).

Probably there was a high demand for the 280M GTX and that's why they've decided to rise the price.

Companies that make desktop GPUs should start making laptop GPU's as well, I think there is great potential for this market :))
