Okay, I'm looking at all 32 of your posts. Where is your question regarding the latest Windows Seven compatible drivers?

oh lol it's at #701 of this post, i seconded FUMETAMAT.

    and there's another issue here:
you said"Minor BIOS update for the M570TU. Remember to download and install the latest keyboard firmware from the 1.00.16 bundle first.http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-service...o=GO&type=BIOS"

you mean to extract the keyboard firmware from the 1.00.16 bundle and install altogether with later bios/es updates or you simply mean install 1.00.16 bundle first and subsequently the later ones? there is bios 1.00.18 and ec 1.00.12 now. shouldnt they include the keyboard firmware from the 1.00.16 bundle already?

Those are FUMETAMAT's questions, not yours. Thanks for making me hunt down a question you never posted.

The chipset and wireless driver you can get from Intel. The fingerprint driver is on the driver CD. I don't use it so I don't have any reason to update a driver that I don't have on my system.

The latest keyboard firmware 1.00.11 is bundled with the 1.00.16 system BIOS download. Update your keyboard firmware to 1.00.11, then update your system BIOS to 1.00.18.

Clevo is going under the assumption that the M570TU user has updated to the 1.00.16 bundle and has installed 1.00.17 when it released as well. From what I am reading from you, I think you're just being lazy. Also, the BIOS page was never meant to be viewed by the end-user for obvious reasons such as protecting stupid people from downloading the BIOS out of curiosity and flashing it onto the CMOS without updating the keyboard firmware first.

I just noticed the new keyboard firmware 1.00.12. If you have already flashed 1.00.11 and 1.00.18, you can flash 1.00.12 ontop of that.

I'm going to flash 1.00.12 right now.

ok, my bad, my bad. :D but i just love to be lazy once in awhile.

so I should flash bios 1.00.18 and ec1.00.12 once and for all?

i read somewhere on clevos site "Newer version of BIOS includes feature and bug fix of all the previous versions. Unless specified in description or readme file, you just need to download and upgrade to the latest version."

What do I look like, your mom? If you want to flash it, then flash it. If you don't feel comfortable with flashing, brush up on it or don't flash it at all. System BIOS 1.00.16/17/18 and keyboard firmware 1.00.11/12 are all minor updates. There isn't anything significant in them other than adding official support for the G94b and tweaking the speakers' sound signature a bit.

The only reason that I can give you for updating your BIOS is just that, to stay updated.

Also I answered that question too, nice of you to notice, most of the time you can use vista drivers (if theres no win7 alternative).
It isnt exactly rocket science where to find intel drivers, I'm sure you can find intel at www.intel.com

Right now, install the dirvers by sight in windows 7 and they do not work correctly, on the drivers of the Fingerprint in the CD be the ones belonging to windows xp and Vista, install them by sight and neither they work correctly.
Intel's drivers PM45 Chipset ICH9M for Windows 7 I do not find them in intel's Web.
Esperare to Windows's official launching 7, now I have installed Windows XP that all drivers are doing all right .

    Thanks and greetings.

This test is to help assist users in the Asus forum that want to incorporate the cooling overhaul onto their notebooks. This test is identical to my last test, but with a few small changes. The cooling overhaul on my notebook is more extensive than the last test, although still incomplete, and I am using 186.82 WHQL as opposed to Dox 185.85 in my last test.

Here is the post and thread that requested me to do this test. http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...3&postcount=68

I accidentally converted my Furmark images to .png when mass converting some images from my camera. I had to convert them back to convert them back to .jpg so that the download won't be so hard on you guys. I don't think any quality was lost though.

This time, my GTX 280M is clocked at 640/1600/950 @ 1.05v. The notebook is running on Windows Seven Ultimate x64 build 7264. My GPU has a more complete heatsink mod compared to last test.

Here is the link to my last test for reference. http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...&postcount=533

Again, my GPU is clocked at 640/1600/950 @ 1.05v. The GPU is running on 186.82 WHQL drivers. The laptop was sitting on top of an Edova Xpad. Ambient temperature was ~72*F. Furmark was configured for stability test in xtreme burning mode at full screen 1920x1200 with 4x MSAA and post-processing.

I began the test when the GPU core temperature rose to 37*C minutes after the GPU fan turned off at 34*C. For the duration of Furmark, the fans were in normal mode, not at maximum or silent mode.

    Edova Xpad
    15 minutes
    [IMG]

    20 minutes.

    Zalman NC2000 (fans on)
    15 minutes
    [IMG]

    20 minutes
    [IMG]

It seems that I have made a bit of progress from my last test. The more I tear apart my laptop, the lower maximum temps I get. My GPU was overclocked slightly higher than in the last test and under almost identical conditions, yet my temps are lower. What is also interesting is that the Xpad performs very well when compared to the NC2000 with the fans off. However, the NC2000 with the fans on still pulls away by a healthy 4-5*C margin and ultimately bringing my max temperatures below the 70*C barrier.

I will create a new thread after I finish my cooling overhaul next Tuesday. I know I promised that I would get it done by today, but life is just keeping me so busy that I can't get these things done.

Yes, anothergeek. I look forward to your results. I am starting to kick myself after not spending the time to record my temperatures before the mod. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5259622&postcount=83

You are no one to laugh at, Forge. You're one of the few Asus users I know that has the balls to go against the warranty nonchalantly.

What warranty? It's Best Buy. The warranty is a lie.

    But thanks anyway.

And to think at one time I was satisfied as long as my temperatures didn't hit 100C. Now I'm splitting hairs over 90C.

If you had told me whipped cream and mochi balls kept my GPU cool, I'd have put them on my heatsink.

    Hi

I have a question (just received my Sager 5797). Do you guys keep fans on maximum when playing? My temps are with auto fans (GPU max 84, average 70-75, min 64)) and with max fans (GPU max 74, average 65-70, min 60). CPU temps haven't went over 45 and HDD is usually 50 (max 55).
The question is because with max fans the computer is making the sound like it is trying to fly. Isn't that harmful to the fans?

    Thanks

What is the temperature in your room when you recorded those GPU temps? Is your notebook sitting on a desk or on a notebook cooler? When you say minimum when describing your temps, do you mean that those are you idle temps? If so, your GPU idle temps are really high, and I am also going on the assumption that you did not overclock your GPU. The CPU and HDD temps are okay.

    I lol'ed.

Backpanel is done. All that is left is to finish up the GPU heatsink and the new HDD copper plate.

    Hi

Idle temps are THM() 39-40, CPU (core #0 30-32 and core #1 29-30) GPU 44 -48, HDD 53. Those temps with normal vents.
Idle temps with max vents are THM() 36-37, CPU (core #0 27-29 and core #1 25-26) GPU 42-44, HDD 51-52
By average temperatures I meant temps when playing (I am monitoring the temps with RivaTurner when playing and CPUID, when doing something else (the using the word, excel, checking the e-mail, reading the news). I am counting it idle (because for all of those applications this machine is overkill). And I am usually using the laptop on top of my lap (thou leaving all the vents free for air). The room temperature is usually (25-28) - staying in Florida right now :). Maximum room temp was 32 :D, but it dropped quite fast when we turned the air conditioner back on.
I dont think that temps are to high, I am only wondering should I use max vents when playing or not?? Lower temps (longer life for the GPU, but maybe shorter life for the vents).

As long as your GPU temperature stays under 88*C, you have nothing to worry about. Right now, your max temperature is low enough to not need the fans at maximum speed.

I am posting this in the most appropriate discussion hopefully.. ;-)

Could anyone please post screenshots of their Sager 5797 (Clevo M570) screens, and indicate the resolution? Its very hard to shop for these because they are generally custom ordered online.

Reviews or opinions about these screens would also be appreciated. :)

So do you want us to take a picture of our screens? The quality and perception of the screen will be greatly influenced by the quality of the camera and the photographer. I don't think it's a good way to AB compare screens.

Well, I'm mostly curious to know and see how websites look on WUXGA. From what I hear, this is the greatest pitfall of a high resolution. Is there a way to have the best of both worlds - WUXGA and websites that look as though they are on WSXGA+?

What? Websites look best on 1920x1200. You have so much viewing space it's not even funny. If you want websites to look like WSXGA on a WUXGA screen, then use zoom.

    Hello people from NBR...

Just bought my second gaming-oriented laptop (use them for games and also I work with CAD/CAE engineering software), my last one was an IbuyPower CRZ93+, which was stolen 4 weeks ago

Being from Brazil made things quite difficult but lets move on... The Brazilian Clevo distribuitor didnot have all the cpu options you have in EU and US... so I went for:

    Q9000
    GTX280M (currently on 186.81)
    1920x1200
    320GB @ 7200rpm

a few things came to mind... they call it M570 only... is it m570TU or ETU?

    When stock, I ran 3dmark for 9800points...
went up until 650/1650/950 with no improvement whatsoever! same 9800 3dmarks...

Also on CPU OC, what software you guys are using, or is there any bios version I am not aware of?... to use it with SetFSB, i could not get the right PLL to get things to work...

I am still reading the whole thread (page 44 now) to make sure I get most info I can from you guys

    Cheers!

hi PBandeira welcome to nbr and congrats of your buy. im from colombia and i have the m570tu with gtx280m and the q9000. your 3dmark scores are fine i have the same scores with may laptop.

overclocking the cpu in clevos is very difficult what i know is that set fsb doesnt work with clevo's laptops

the m570tu and etu are the same, the resellers renamed because of the mobo revision that allowed quad cores processors.

    take care

Hi there yes it's m570=m570etu=m570tu-2 I believe the only difference is (this is what I heard) that the notebooks which come with the newer 260m/280m gpu have a different cooling solution (or something along these lines).
I dont know about the q9000, but when i ran 3dmark06 with my then t9600 I got a score around 10500-11000.
Overclocking the cpu on your m570 is only easy/possible with an extreme(tm) processor not with the q9000 or t9600 etc.

The notebook itself doesn't necessarily have a superior cooling solution, but the 280M has a better heatsink than the 9800M GTX. This I can tell you for sure.

    Hi.
I was planning on buying this notebook (mainly for gaming and music production) and was wondering if anyone used protools with this particular one. I do have to say I am a complete newb/wannabe/you name it/whatever to the non macworld.
If I partition a drive to windows XP, I can use protools (32bit) because for some reason protools will not run on 64bit operating systems. Any insight or name calling is appreciated, or anything really... thanks

    Heya everyone,

Im new to the forum but ive been a longtime visitor of notebookreview. Mostly to checkup on whats new and ofcourse to checkup on the reviews.

This time i need some advise about my M570TU. I bought mine around half a year ago and am VERY happy with it. I had a couple of laptops before this one but this one is still the best by a long mile. Though i have the following problem.

When i bought this laptop i bought it with 3 years warranty. Now half a year after this purchase the company i bought it from went bankrupt. Meaning, my warranty is now useless. What is the best thing to do now? Will the laptop run as good as it does now in a year? (i know this has more to do with the user then with the product) Does the laptop have any "weak" parts that i shouldnt stress to much? or parts that are known for failing a lot? or should i just try to sell it and buy a new one again?

I hope you guys can give me your thoughts on it.

I don't know if there are any weaknesses on the M570TU. Clevo engineered this model the way all notebooks are supposed to be made. Just do routine maintenance on it once a month by cleaning out the vents and this notebook will last you well over three years.

the only known weak thing on this chassis is the audio ports, but theres not much you can do about that, if they stop working, either buy some new ones to solder on (if you're comfortable doing that) or buy an external sound card :)

I've been experiencing some issues with my 5796 for a while now, and I was hoping someone could suggest possible causes/solutions.

    My notebook's stats:
    X9100 CPU @ 3.06 Ghz
    4GB DDR3 1066MHz Dual Channel RAM
nVidia 9800M GTX 1 GB video card
    320 GB 7200 RPM HDD
    Vista 64 Home
Nothing overclocked, always using an NC-2000 cooling pad

The problem is that audio/video playback sometimes becomes very choppy. Like I might try to play an MP3 with Windows Media Player and it stutters so badly that it's unlistenable. The same thing can happen during video playback or gaming. Restarting the laptop usually seems to solve the problem, though not always.

    Please advise!

On my M570 (sager 5797), when I press the "A" button next to the power button to go into Silent Mode, it also launches VideoView (program for the webcam). How do I prevent VideoView from launching every time I go into Silent Mode?

Anyone got access to Clevo BIOS downloads? What's the latest BIOS version?

Just ask your vendor for the latest BIOS.

It seems that we will be missing a few important things today. emike09 has relinquished his machine and his activity here on NBR, and Clevo has officially discontinued the M570TU. North American vendors are slowly removing the M570TU from their websites. Ladies and gentlemen, we have come a long way. The robust cooling and performance of this model will carry on into the new W870CU era to continue the legacy that first began five years ago.

    Cherish your M570TU Sov.

EDIT: RJTech no longer has M570TU's.

Yeah, I just checked again too. They took it out just a few minutes after I made my previous post, haha.

Sad day it is, I really liked this machine and to be honest I am not much a fan of the W870.

I have my eye on a GTX 280m. Squeeze even more life out of this.
    Then an SSD & win7.
This baby has lots of life in it.
