    anothergeek,
In Hardware, monitor properties, the hardware ID is MONITOR\APP9C69. And it really sucks. I have emailed the vendor I got it from last week (PcTorque) and am waiting a reply. It is really bothering my eyes as it is so flat and hard to even look at. What a disappointment on such a nice PC otherwise.

My god man. What are you talking about? The LG W1 is one of the most neutral and balanced screens I have ever used. The brightness is just enough that it doesn't feel like you're staring into the sun, and the contrast is vibrant and not exhaggerated like on the Asus.

I'm going to have to agree with Soviet Sunrise. The lgw1 is the best laptop screen I have ever had, and looks great.

So my machine shipped yesterday, and I just finished reading this entire thread. I am planning on putting Windows 7 RC1 on this machine and from reports here everyone seems to think it is ok. Did anyone have any problems installing any drivers or run into and quirks they would care to share?

Tzvia, try playing with the Digital Vibrance setting in the nVidia Control Panel thingy. I have it set to about 30%, and it's a world of difference.

No, no problems whatsoever with installing win 7 x64 (7100, 7201). It runs like a charm. The only problem I had was with Intel TubroMemory. But the application (dashboard) is so buggy that it wasn't very stable under Vista either.

Me dummy. Me return MCSE MCSA A+ SECURITY + and MCDBA and dont tell my CSC co-workers I said this screen sucked.

ThmsLngbrd, akaltenbach and Soviet Sunrise, you are right. Like a dumbo, I did not bother to open CP and adjust Nvidia settings. Gamma 97%, Digital Vibrance 25% and contrast 52%- this screen kicks serious b*t. :D

I must have stared at the 700 laptops and 3000 cheap desktop monitors I support at work (but my specialty is viruses) and it fried my brains. Then I come home and act like a computer n00b.

    It's gorgeous.

    So off the current topic...

Strange thing happening with my M570TU. Just got it back from Sager. New Mobo and GPU. For some reason, the system randomly beeps at me while I'm using it. Kinda like I accidentally held down a key too long. Its a quick beep, and then won't happen again for 5-10 minutes, or for days. Kinda annoying. Any reason the system will randomly beep like that? SMART warning perhaps?

Have you looked in the BIOS for any beeping sounds enabled? My guess would be that they forgot to connect some cable to the motherboard (in the best case scenario).

I had one problem with the win 7 release candidate. It has problems loading the right driver for certain ipods(refuses to recognize a 64bit driver as being 64 bit), which keeps you from being able to put music onto the ipod via itunes. Workarounds have been posted on several forums. Google is your friend!

Does anyone here know anything about the panel with hardware ID LPL0060? I presume it's an LG/Phillips one, but there is very little information around that I can find about it. My oh so subjective experience is that it is clear and sharp, but that the brightness and colours and are a bit weak before you start playing around with digital vibrance and such. Once I have it configured the way I like it's quite good compared to the other monitors I am surrounded by.

I'm thinking about purchasing some RAM. What do you think about this:

    "GEIL notebook DDR3 4GB 1066Mhz KIT2 CL7 (GS34GB1066C7DC)" ?

It comes with 5 years of warranty. Is GEIL a good brand?

Not bad, werehusky. The memory and the hard drive are very easy to replace. It shouldn't take you more than five minutes to replace both.

I'd recommend buying a tube of thermal paste as well. 39-45*C is unusually high at idle for a Q9000.

Ok, I am sending this from my brand new 5797 running Windows 7. Everything is working great right now, Windows update found everything but my camera and I got a newer wireless and video driver. I also had to get a new driver and software from UPEK for the fingerprint sensor. My problem now is I have 2 "Base System Devices" left. Anyone have any thoughts on what I should double check on?

Yea, thanks I actually tried that after I posted and it worked just fine. Thanks for the post. I really don't see a problem with anything now, except I have to turn on my bluetooth everytime I boot and I use the BT Mouse so that is semi annoying. For the life of me I didn't find that setting in the BIOS like I had on previous systems.
I havn't run any tests yet, but my Windows Experience score is a 5.9.

I have a p9700, 4 GB ram, the 280m gpu, and a 7200 rpm HD. Running Windows 7. Does that seem about right? Ifthat is of no help what benchmark test should I run to get a comparison from someone herE?

    Thanks

What gave your lowest subscore - HDD? Then it's about right, in fact mine 7200rpm 320GB gives only 5.7... But I want to replace it with a SSD anyway.

    I get a 5.8 for my WD Scorpio Black 320GB 7200rpm.

would be nice if i could have the 6.7 that my proc and ram get :(

Gfx keeps a nice 5.9 in both sections

    (M570RUU, but still...)

btw, i just tried to set it to hibernate when closed up, and it doesn't go to hibernate either. Looks like it's not XP's problem? Might be drivier's problem? Or is it purely hardware problem?? T_T I don't wanna send my laptop to repair!!!

I have the same problem from the beginning. Is there any solution for this problem? Moreover my m570TU stops sometimes and nothing works. I can´t move the mouse and the keyboard does not work. I see the last application and a mouse cursor. Only the shutdown Button helps if i use it for 4 seconds. This happens only if I use in the energy scheme the energy saving option. In every other energy option I have no problem. I use a turbo memory card in the mini pci express slot. Is there any power saving in this slot? I asked my shop and they told me to send it back and they will check it. I can repeat this problem with a brand new Installation of Windows 7. Has anybody a reason for this? It looks for me like a hardware failure in the mainboard.

No, that's not the reason. There shouldn't be any sleep/hibernate issues with 185.85 WHQL. Did you undervolt or underclock your card's idle levels?

I have a hunch that it may be because of XP. Perhaps other users running XP can help you with this.

If I can recall, in XP there is an option to disable standby when you close the laptop lid. It's located in power options in the control panel.

In most notebooks, there is a small switch inside of the display casing that will tell the OS whether the screen is open or closed. I think with our M570TU's, the switch activates when the screen is about 15 degrees open from the closed position.

Hey mine was doing this freeze thing too! In both Vista and Win7 rc1.
I sent it in for repair and they didn't find anything wrong and shipped it back to me. It's been fine now. What a fluke!
Check your ram chips. Check your video driver too, just in case.

Watch the screen when you are closing your laptop. You should see the screen turn off when it passes the switch's threshold. If it does turn off, then there is nothing wrong with the switch.

Try installing 179.27 and see if your notebook sleeps properly. If it still doesn't work, it's probably XP.

    @sotoa & jupapri
Thanks. My problem with the freeze is solved.
    It was the video driver.

Now there is only the beep noise like the problem from emike09. The system randomly beeps at me while I'm using it. It´s like I held down a key too long or starts a pc without memory. Its only one quick beep, and then won't happen again for hours, or for days. Any reason the system will randomly beep like that?
Maybe it´s a cabel which is not connected?

    a beep can happen if:
    - you hold down a number of keys on the keyboard, and the system cannot interpret the input that you are doing.

I did and it works fine most of the time. But last time I tried it, it just didn't work for some reason. I will try it again some other time. Maybe its because of the video card BIOS. Originally it was 0608 and now I am using 0617.

Hm, video card BIOS eh...that might be it. I've noticed that the M570ETU isn't being sold with 8800M GTX? Do you think that maybe the 8800M GTX doesn't support HDMI?

    Because I have a 8800M GTX in a M570ETU laptop...
