Since your X9100 @3.06 no problem, i don´t think the reseller will change you a new one just because it oc not that well...... :)

I got WD 320GB HDD and recently it gets really hot for me too. I played WoW for 1,5 hour and it got up to 67C! ?! Few weeks ago 55-56 (but usually just 52-53) was the max but recently 60+ is very often :(

Bought a QX9300 finally. To overclock, I change the multiplier in the BIOS right?

I've had it set to 3.46 for the entire time I've had the laptop and never had a crash as a result of the CPU overclock.

Turns out that I didn't even last as long as you did under the orthos test.

    Test 1, 560000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M212991 using 10K FFT length.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
    Torture Test ran 32 minutes 51 seconds - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
    Execution halted.

I'll try the 1x overclock next to see what happens.

Hi guys. I just ordered my first laptop for gaming. Up to this point I had a dell used solely for school. I was wondering if you guys could let me know if this system is adequate for games like crysis.

    Sager NP5797 Custom Notebook
    - Operating System: ~Windows Vista Home Premium 64-B
    - Sound Card: Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audi
    - Primary Hard Drive: ~ 250GB 5400RPM (Serial-ATA II 3
    - Optical Drive: ~Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD +
    - Ram: ~ 4,096MB DDR3 1066MHz Dual Chan
    - Video Card: nVidia GeForce GTX 280M 1,024MB
    - Processor: ~Intel P8600 45nm "Montevina" Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz
    - Display: 17" WSXGA+ 1680x1050

I am just afraid that my HDD and Processor might not be adequate. I tried my best to keep the price at $1800

The CPU is fine, but I suggest spending the extra $30 for a 7200 RPM HDD. Enjoy it :D

Why does the Hdd RPM matter?

By the way, is heating a major issue with the np5797?
Also, I've heard some bad things about the sound? Is that much of an issue?

HDD w/7200 vs 5400...With 7200 rpm's, You'll see the performance mainly in starting up programs that need to be retrieved from the disk. But, you sacrifice some battery life, but I don't think its that substantial.

No heat problems that I know of...Clevo mobo's from what i have read do very good job with heat...

Sound in most notebooks are weak...Best way around this is to buy some external surround sound aftermarket speakers...

    Hope this helps

I have a old Hdd from my inspiron 8600. Does 5797 have space for another Hdd and if so will I be able to use the one I have. Currently I use it with a USB enclosure.

Thats too hot. Open her up and clean your vents. You might want to put some ol' OCZ Freeze on the chips to keep them cool. Sager globs waaay to much thermal paste on, causing higher temps than needed.

Alright so I'm having trouble installing the new .16 bios and .11 ec.

I downloaded the zip that contained both, and the 2 .bat files, but when I run them it says it's incompatible with 64-bit systems.

Do I have to run them at boot? Or put them in compatibility mode with something?

    Thanks

I've been duel booting with 2 drives for a while and the rc has def come along ways from the beta version I got. So I decided it was time to make a image of the old vista install ( just in case) and load win 7 on my nice 320gb drive. I love how little time it takes to install win7 compared to vista tho.

I've formatted vista when i tried to install GTA IV :D , there was no space in the 7rc partition and vista refused to give me more than 40gb !?

i might go back to vista and do few tries to get 14k in 3dmark06 coz i'm getting lower scores in 7rc!

Well OCZ didn't arrive this weekend, so I broke down and used the included gunk. The processor is excellent! I've got it overclocked @2.93 and it runs great. Temps off the cooler reached mid 60's during 3dmark06, on the cooler is right around 60C. Score went over 13500 easily, I can get this higher later. And GTA4 runs so much smoother. I've got it at 30 view/60 detail/100 traffic now with maxed settings elsewhere and it's running fluently. Overall it's easily 10 frames higher than the P9600 at my previous settings.

I got my laptop back finally! Funny thing is.. there was no problem to fix. For some reason it worked fine even after 72hr stress test. This is troubling.

I did ask Pro-Star if they can throw in a GTX 280m, but they said it's not compatible to my Mobo. How naive of them. Right?

Clevo has released a small BIOS update, 1.00.17. The new BIOS also uses the same keyboard firmware from the 1.00.16 bundle. ( http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/esupport/MarketDLOut.asp?model=M57xTU&go=GO&type=BIOS)

The Realtek audio driver will need to be reinstalled after flashing the new BIOS.

So far, after a few minutes of listening to music and playing Counter Strike, the BIOS seems to have remedied the cracking from the notoriously tinny side speakers at maximum volume. Also, the soundstage has been widened; instruments that are recorded off center are spread farther apart, and vocals, bass, and percussion have been moved more off of the side speakers and driven more by the amplifier. In games, the new sound signature is also present; the location of sound is more focused and easily identifiable.

Только пытаюсь держать мои солдаты живы.

Somewhat. It was never really a subwoofer to begin with; it is more of a midrange woofer/amplifier. Lower frequencies are still very faint. But the BIOS overall gives a wider and neutral sound signature compared to warm nasally sound from the previous BIOS.

I think I got 10,600 with the P9600 and 583/1450/800 clocks. Keep in mind there's no reason to not run the memory at 950 mhz. That is the stock clock for MXM 3.0, and I have it at 1000 for games with no issues.

Excellent and thanks for the info. I was just trying to compare with my Alienware M15X that I currently have installed a GTX 280M and with stock GPU clocks of 583/800/1450 and a 2.6GHz T9500 running at 1440 x 900 since this is the resolution I currently have and can not use and external monitor and that resolution is about 1% difference to the default 1280 x 1024, I too get about 10,700+. So my 280M is working within normal parameters, which is very nice to know !!!!!!!!!!! :D Thanks again and God Bless :)

    Hello all,
Just got my 5797 (3ghz dual, 4gig ram, 1920x1200, BlueRay) and am torn. The machine works great, no dead pixels, no problems BUT...
The screen looks dull. Low contrast. I have an Asus G2s1 that is drop dead gorgous screen wise but this screen by comparison is washed out. Sorry if it has been covered here already, I haven't read all the posts, but is this (gasp) normal?

When you look in nvidia control panel under "setup multiple displays", is the screen named Apple Laptop Display?

Because I have that screen and I love it, lol. Since you chose WUXGA, I think you may have a different screen.
