dxdiag shows my Sager 9261 BIOS: D900C 1.00.20.aS LS3. This BIOS was provided to me by my Reseller (Sagernotebook) and supports my Q9650 fine!

Win 7 runs ok as well!

I'm about to upgrade my 9262's processor to a Q9650 as well, and that little bit of info spooks me. All I'm waiting on is the thermal paste (should be here tomorrow; it was back ordered). Did you use the BIOS from Clevo? Maybe that is what did you in...? I flashed my BIOS to .22 (Clevo version), but the stock processor is still in it, and it still works...

Would an nVidia 9800M GTX taken from a Sager 5796 work with a Sager 9262? Would any modifications be necessary?

I actualy got called sager yesterday, about purchasing an extra 8800m gtx from them. And of course they had none. They only have have 9800 gtx for 845 dollars. So i asked him if I can buy the one they have on ebay from OCZ from 57 clevo models they put me on hold for a minute and told, because of firmware on the 8800m gtx on those it wont work on my np9262, he also said I can buy it and give it a try, but he assured it wont work. He said I'm better off to buy one from another user with same model I have duh....

The D901C will not support Intel Turbo Memory. That is only supported with the Mobile Montevina platform, and your D901C is a desktop platform.

Yes, it will work. However, you will need to find a special frame adapter to be able to mount the heatsink to the 9800M GTX (look at the inner holes in the card).
You will also need a D901C fan and heatsink. There is actually a thread about this:

Okay I;m really tempted to buy the ebay one, total cost will be about 400 dollars and I will be SLI... :) A whole lot cheaper then 9800m gtx SLI 1600 dollars.

I have found the 8800 fan, heatsink, sli cable for about 130 dollar yeah steep I know. But the only issue I see is the plate when you apply the heatsink onto the GPU. Where would I get one? the plate.

Heeeyyy!!! I'm a PC Microworks victim.

I found out I own a Clevo D901C, and I'm having some issues with the "stk1135 pc camera" or USB2.0 2M Webcam.

Sometimes it will work, usually with a horrifying terrible blurry frame rate, sometimes not at all.

I'm using the drivers that came with the computer, which seem to be more up to date than any driver I can find online.

I tried downloading the latest drivers from the clevo website:

    http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftpOut.asp?Lmodel=D900C/D901C&ltype=9&submit=+GO+

    But it's a broken file (won't download).

Anyone have suggestions? I have some phone numbers, one for the manufacturer, and I already emailed them (and they actually responded!). But they told me they won't send me the drivers directly, I have to get them from their "approved vendors". Except... PC Microworks was my vendor, and they turned out to be a scam, so they don't exist.

Can I get some help please?

EDIT: Oh right, I'm running Vista Ultimate x64, with HDD's running RAID 0, with a pair of 8800 GTX in Sli mode.

Thanks! There's some good info in that thread. But the 9800M GTX would be added as a second card for SLI. In other words, it's not replacing an existing video card. Where would I be able to get the frame adapter (besides an old card)?

If you don't find it at Eurocom, try looking for a compatible older and broken card on eBay that has it (add "AS IS" or "FAULTY" to your search).

welllll its in, and works great! although there are issues... when i boot i hear a beeep, and there seems to be issues with my dual monitor... sometimes it doesn't even see my own laptop display :( which is no good

there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it works or doesn't (meaning which monitor it works on) some of the times it will only see my external display and use that as the primary

so as a short answer, yes the 2700m does work ( and very well for maya/rhino/etc) but it does seem to be buggy... im using dox's 182.05

anyone else with a sager 9262 experience any issues with the quadro 2700m?

Guys, really looking for some help here. and yes, i have done a lot of reading around on the subject.

I have a Sager NP9260 with a single GeForce Go 7950 GTX, which has now failed. I bought the system in 2007 and motherboard is V5.1A.

A replacement 7950 GTX is incredibly elusive, and for the price I may as well upgrade.
Sager tell me I need a new motherboard for the 8800 or better, but Kris at MXM-Upgrade says the GTX 280 will work!

    Can anyone please clarify?

    I really don't want a Sager paperweight.

edit: just realised my specs are in my sig :)

my money is in a power issue. is there like any USB power settings somewhere in my software or BIOS, i dont seem to find anything like that.

well anyways, if anyone knows how to solve this issue plz let me know.

If you were refering to the mounting frame, I think you can search eBay for "Nvidia Geforce Go 6800 faulty/defect/AS IS".
They seem to have at least the threaded bolts that come from the back of the card through the inner holes to mount the heatsink. I do not know if they also have the square frame, but I think that the threaded bolts which will receive the mounting screws are more important.
Just take your time finding a good deal which should consist mostly of the shipping charge.
I don't think that RJTech's heatsink will include the bolts and the frame.

Mmarchild, would this one have the needed parts?

I'm not mmarchild, but you can see that the threaded spacer is present and appears to be intact on that card (though the back is covered by the black square tape). You just need to be careful to make sure that the screw holes on that threaded spacer match the screws on your heatsink. Otherwise you just bought a broken card and an overpriced unusable threaded spacer.

If it comes from the same type of computer/heatsink, then it's probably a safe bet. ;)

I just installed windows 7 pro 64 on my D901C and the realtek 2.35 drivers however I can't adjust the individual speaker levels and what not like I can in XP.
Also when I hotplug jacks it doesn't ask what I plugged up.
Are their really this many options missing in windows 7 or am I doing something wrong?

The only things not installed are the intel matrix storage manager, the tv tuner, and the card reader. I have drivers for those somewhere.

I did find the individual speaker controls buried deep in the volume level menu, and I discovered the pop up menu works when I plug jacks into the blue and red connectors, but not the green one. (it detects when I plug it in though)

I'm still disappointed that the realtek sound control manager doesn't have anywhere near as many options in Windows 7 as it does in XP.
I wonder if its MS's fault or if realtek designed it that way.
It will be harder now to configure certain audio settings in windows 7.

Did you enable AHCI in the BIOS before you began your installation?

I'm running RAID0 and about to switch over to some new drives when I get a chance. (I also always use AHCI in XP where possible)
I have the card reader and matrix installed now, but I'll have to dig the disk out for the tuner card as the drivers for it aren't hosted on your site or others that I've searched.

Anyway though I have a bigger problem now though.

I'm contemplating cramming my Q9650 in this for some testing.

Yes, those spacers work on your D901C. But I think that they are kinda soldered on the 6800 card. You may have to use some force or a heat gun to take them out. Just make sure that the height is OK so that you will have contact between the heatsink and the video card.

That is probably your TV tuner if you have one.
I think mine has 3 unknown media devices before driver installation.
I think there is a separate device for the tuner and for the AV input, then maybe a device for the IR control. Something like that.

The card reader shows up in 7 as a mass storage device pre-driver install.
The bluetooth and webcam will only show up when you turn them on.

Thanks! I just installed Windows 7 and I didn't install yet the drivers for the Yuan MPC788 TV tuner. I hope that forcing the Vista drivers will solve the problem since it appears that Windows 7 cannot detect any drivers for it.

Just to update yall on the random shut down situation. I discovered that turning the laptop on its side fixed the problem.
I have gone ahead and installed my new hard drives and re-seated the DVD burner and elevated the laptop and its running just fine now. (right side up)
I'll have RAID5 and RAID0 benchmarks soon with my 3 Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500 GB drives.

Apparently you can't migrate the RAID from RAID5 to RAID0.

Edit: Benchmarks here on the RAID setups.
    http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/to...ed-those-seagate-momentus-7200-4-hard-drives/
Apparently the 8HR maxes out at about 190 MB/s average sustained read rate.
Edit: Apparently I was wrong, enabling volume write back cache = more speed.

Hey all! First post here.. I have to say that I am not as tech savvy as I would hope to be!!

I'm looking to upgrade to Windows 7, if that's a possibility with my 9262. I am currently running Windows XP 32 bit right now.

1.) Is Windows 7 supported with drivers on the system? I noticed on the sager site that under 9262 there are no Windows 7 drivers.
2.) Would my system be capable of running 64 bit system? (if I upgraded the RAM)

    Thanks!

Hi there, long time no post.

I bought my d901c two years ago and came with the TV tuner YUAN MPC-788. Never played with it until now, as of lately I've been thinking about converting the unit into a media center for the living room.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Looked for Windows 7 X64 driver for this card but could not find them. Decided to try the Vista drivers and they worked ...

Well almost. The image is grainy, like an old TV suffering from bad reception. Yet if I plug the antenna cable directly to the TV it shows perfectly.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Trance

If you are running it Full Screen on your laptop it will probably be grainy, but if you keep it in its window, slightly smaller than full screen it should clear right up.

Let us know how that works.

    Thanks paladin for the help.

This is not only grainy but jerky. Connecting to a SD telly trough the XBOX360 Media Center Extender it is the same thing.

If this is how Yuan works, can you point me a better TV Tuner via USB or express card slot.

    Cheers,

    Trance

No problems really. Just install an Win7 will find almost everything for you. Including the video driver.

    @Paladin,

Thanks you for your kind help. I'll have a look at AverTV. I understand that the card works with the d901c correct?

Nice to see that top notch posters are still on the ground :)

It will work with any laptop with a properly configured ExpressCard slot, so yes, it will work with the D901C.

    Thanks once again Paladin.

I ordered your suggested TV card. I'll keep people informed about how well d901c copes with it. If it works well it would be useful to record programs et al.

On the supplied Clevo D901c internal TV Card:

Unless there is something not well configured, the factory installed YUAN MPC-788 is atm useless in use with a regular a CRT TV (yes, old school) connected through S-SVIDEO or through Media Center Extender on XBOX360 (image quality is bad, is captured with full of artifacts, granny and rainy etc).

I know it is not a reception problem since when I connect the same cable directly to the TV the image quality is very high for analog.

I'm using high quality cables etc etc. It may be the case that the card is not properly installed, isolated etc. Any tips to check that out? Two working tuners would be nice.

    Cheers,

    Trance
PS: By the way, did I mention that my interest is in analogue reception (SD)?

I also have the Yuan MPC788 and to date I was able to just use the analog TV. I was interested in DVB-T but it didn't work regardless how strong was the antenna.

I have a question regarding the touch pad:
Does anybody know how to protect the surface of the touch pad? After just 2-3 months of usage the touch pad looks already roughed up especially if you look at it from the sides.
