Best bet is probably to get your motherboard revision number and then check with one of the reputable resellers about whether or not that CPU is supported for your motherboard version.

Just thought I'd make my mark in here as I'm now an owner of the D901C. Already had an oopsy and had to replace the keyboard but that's OK. As I plan to use it for gigging had hoped it would be a little more tolerant of little accidents, as long as it can take the odd hard knock I'm sure it will be fine though. It is basically the last laptop to use the TI chip for firewire, expresscard etc which was my main deciding factor with going for it. Hardly used it yet but know I'm going to love it. First laptop I've had and it's wAY more powerful than my old P4 desktop! :D

Use 185.20 drivers and OC some more. That's all really. The goal is 11,000 GPU.

i'm new to nvidia so i don't know anything i am doing. i used 185.85 for vantage.

edit: not new but i haven't had a nvidia chip since last november. so i don't really know the driver thing. the last driver i used were 169.04 for overclocking and 174.70 for normal use on my 8600m gs

There are a number of decent 06 drivers, like the 176's, 180's, 179.48, 182.05, 182.46, yada yada. But 185.20 is the king of vantage by a long shot.

I really like dox 185.85. The nvidia 185.85 kept giving me problems and would randomly crash in HL2, Portal, TF2, and Fallout 3, and my temps were all less than 60C.

really did you undervolt you q9650. i plan on buying one. but i want to know the temps on idle and max load.

right now i am testing my system. e8600 @ 1.075 @3.33ghz running prime for 5 min stable. lol. (i am going to let it run all night.)

No, I was going to undervolt my Q9650, but after I loaded Orthos for around 10 minutes, nothing even broke 60C so I figured there wasn't a need.

All the cores idle around 39-42C, and game around 50-55C. I'm really impressed. When I play games I always max the fans, and the GPUs never break 70C and everything else sits around 55C.

Windows 7 increased my temps from Vista, which I find odd because it uses less system resources. I DO get better performance but I figured it was due to the OS using less of my resources.. Has anyone else had this happen? I mean temps are still perfectly good but up about 3 degrees across the board and fans speed up more often.

Not sure why that would be. I haven's seen any change between XP and Win7. I always use the 'FN' + '1' to keep the fans at full RPMs.

I had this problem. I talked to Sager tech support. If you go into the BIOS and change to ACHI mode, boot, restart, and then switch back to RAID mode it should make it boot faster. I dont think that will mess up the array. I've done it with mine in both RAID 0 and RAID 5.

    it happened 3 times
when i was i playing a game(stocked) it happened twice where the screen was white(just the color white)with a little static(like when you use an antenna to get signal to your tv). but i just alt tabed twice and it was good.
(when i alt tab into windows it was fine.)
but the last time i was reinstalling my os and it did it again. this time i had to power down and start it back up. (this is what made me worry)

so right now i flashed my bios stocked and see what happens.

Anyone else getting an awful squealing type noise when using any 3D apps on the 9262? Almost sounds like audio interference, but it seems to be coming from either the fans or something and not from the speakers/headset, and only happens in 3D apps...

you need to do a big review on both sysem in full detail with everything included.
cooling, games, lcd, performance, everything please.

but listen to see if it is from your power supply. if it is then your fine. I also had an issue. as soviet pointed out. but everyone said it's ok.

Its the PS... the room I am in echoes... had me looking all over the place to find where the sound is coming from.

    Don,
Based on having the two units for about the same time (exaggeration since my W90 has been out for RMA for most of its life... and is still out for RMA) the 9262 seems to be winning on all fronts except the LCD, and random HDD temp. that thing idles @~120C

Any cpu in the W90 cant beat the desktop CPU AT ALL; Graphics seem superior on the 9262, but that could be a bit biased for two reasons... 1st, Im overclocking the 9800s and I wasnt OC'ing the 4870s in the W90, and 2nd, Im basically playing all Nvidia sponsored games... :D  (that was a joke); CPU temps are surprisingly within the same regions in both, idling between 38-40 in 9262 and 36ish for the W90; Stock GPUs are getting about the same framerates in the crysis bench ~32avg 9262 / 31avg W90 (1680x1050 very high 4xaa) I dont do the completely maxed 1920 cuz it just doesnt seem realistic that I would play at those settings... 1680 is comfortable for me. The 9800m GTXs are holding their own in this fight, and honestly I was rooting for the "superior" 4870s as I had been burned (literally) by the 8600m gt and 8700m gt when they burnt out on me... had lost my trust in nvidia. This 9262 is making me reconsider that judgement. waiting to get the W90 back to do a full comparison since that will make me decide on which to keep.

Some random quirks about both. first, the not so random lack of gpu ram... 512mb in crossfire is a disappointment. The PS whine on the 9262; the HDD temp on the 9262, (touchpad is actually handwarmer... will work wonders in the winter time.)but thats more the disk itself as opposed to the system cooling of course... i can tell these drives were basically just storage for John as their performance is not all that great... sure woulda liked to have that vertex in here; the W90 keyboard is a lil cramped thanks to the touch panel on the left... which can be annoying - flipside: the keyboard on the 9262 is positioned well for me... i like the extra space for the palmrest; the W90 just looks waaaaaaaaayyy better, but overall 9262 is winning for me so far.

Hopefully the W90 is fixed when it gets back so it can have a fair chance.
