Anyone out there with a E8500 cpu installed? Any issues or problems with this cpu? It is not supported in the US as yet, but is it a compatibility or availability issue?

    Mine is a 7950GTX, true, but it`s a 45W GPU, unlike your 35W 8800M GTX.
And no cooler or such, just using my guide to cool it down.
    No underclocking etc.

    Just Undervolted CPU.

Ok , I guess I was wrong, I forgot that when I don`t do stuff, I watch movies, that`s why the GPU idles at 38ish.
    Looky here :D

My RU is a bad ass machinery, I guess the dust cleanup I did today made wonders :D

Since mine uses less power shouldn't it be cooler?May be time to apply some thermal paste.

Have you ever opened it up to inspect the heatsinks? I vaguely recall a poster several months ago who discovered that a piece of packaging plastic had been left between the heatsink and the chip (not sure if it was CPU or GPU) - needless to say, plastic wrapping does not make for a tight junction twixt chip and heatsink.

An interesting aside, my gfx card is now running at 48 idle with all the same programs running... The only difference is that I have now plugged in a secondary screen (1280x1024, 19")... I didn't expect that to make a 10deg difference...

    Quieter? definitely not.
    Cooler, totaly.

I remember even when reading Chaz`s reviews about the D901C and the 5791/3 .
The RU is cooler , but also noisier. Not that it really matters.

The RU gets warm in the touchpad area, above the hdd and chipset.
But the HD stays around 40-45C , currently at 48 I can feel a warm sensation, but NOT HOT.

    RU wins :D

my cores usually min/idle at 38 degrees.... my question is.. in the 5793, why is one core so much higher than the other... they're rite next to each other. unless your using a single core intensive program... thats rele weird. They should at max be like a few degrees apart. My friend had a problem like that and by using other monitoring tools he found that it didnt click with his machine. Btw... just curious, no one found a way to cpu overclock the E6700 in D901c yet rite? either FSB or mult.... just checking since im prolly swapping it out anyway, mine as well OC it a bit.

Rambo, I don`t want to rub it in, but you do not want to hear idle temps with max fans :D

The thing is, among many RU users, I seem to have a very cool unit. I may be very lucky in this regard.
My system never sees temps above 65C, in any component with auto or full fan mode...so I think I am the owner of one awesome edition :)

just to rant.. i never understood how alienware exists... they're systems are overpriced... overheated... and thats it... i assume they're just a name brand now, thats why ppl go with them. but clevo has been beating them in the 17" markets... and soon to be 15"....

Ever bought something like this for someone (or for yourself)?

In fact, some people will pay ungodly sums of money for what amounts to a proprietary mixture of water, alcohol, and stuff squeezed out of flower petals and whatnot; for example, I believe that this:

goes (or went) for around 47,500 pounds.

Let me say that again,

The same principle applies to Alienware and its ilk.

Ther's a demand for everything shiny. And those guys know it well.

Think of it as the equivalent of every girl dying for a piece of white rock made from the blood somewhere in Africa as the proof of your love.Seems strange? How many guys do buy that.I am not surprised by the existence of Alienware.
