    Hey Doodles do you know if the sound card in the Blackhawk (SRS WOW SYSTEM) is the same as the creative 3d in the Sager version? If not which is better? Sound is important to me, I love my Xfi in my desktop.

    I do not know. I know the m570 has an SRS system that has a hotkey to turn it on and off. In this system, that i got from PCMicroworks I only know that sound is Amazing. I blast this thing instead of using headfones sometimes, and i think the quality is just great. Good Bass too, and i luv my bass. The only think i could find in the device manager was that I use the Realtek High Definition Audio drivers. I cant find anything to tell my actual sound card. And, im not sure, but isnt the sound integrated into the motherboard on these babys? Ive opened my computer plenty and never noticed a separate card for sound. Btw, im also big into sound since im a gamer. I used to use headphones on the Creative Audigy zs platinum (top of the line wen i bought my gaming desktop 5 yrs ago). The sound on this thing is the same if not better. I hear everything. Ull be fine with or without this SRS/creative 3d thing. Thats DOoodles guaranteed!

    -also glad to hear the amazing support they're giving you. I have had a few troubles with this machine and all were fixed by them just sending the new part overnight. I replaced, it worked. They actually trusted me (the consumers) opinion on wat was wrong with my system. Amazing!

    hmmm... i shud prolly test that tho lol
    i never use max sound speakers for games... ill tell you this tho, wen i somtimes have the system volume up to just 50, and leave it there by accident (say i was listening to music).
    wen i jump into a game like Cod4 and forget to put it back to like 20, BAM gunshots and grenades BLOW my f'kin ear off!!!

    enjoy :D

    I believe corvetteking26 was talking about turning up the sound quality in the game menu, not turning up the volume.

    So I take it there is some bass in the D901C's speakers?
    The RU is terrible in that regard, even with the tiny weeny mini-subwoofer.

    Yes, but I've been thinking.
    Paying close to 4k for a super fast laptop would mean that it has ALL that you need and more, including a high quality sound system, like that in Toshiba's Qosmio line. The harman khardon speakers are awesome, and Altec Lansing too.
    You've got you quad core here, your SLI there , your 3 drives over niah(South Park cartman ™ ;) and your 4 speakers hiah.I reckon they burry the RUs 2.01 speaker systems, nah ? :D

    I play "u to be" videos without a glitch. As for sound it doesn't sound bad at all, athough I use headphones all the time to listen to music and play games.

    Having said this any 50 euros external speakers will play better sound then the ones that come with the laptop I guess.

    Ha, that's what I mean. It's not a full powerhouse if it doesn't feature some high class speakers.
    I think even my cat can replicate sound better than the RU onboard speakers, but from reviews, the D901C has better ones, maybe because it'4 and not 2.01 like the RU(yes, that's right, 2.01 :D).

    Anybody wanna trade? :D

    Bored, so I looked thru the pull from my Laptop conversion. The 7950 GTX is of course similar in form to the 8800 GTX, BUT the 8800 set up has a cable that plugs into the card from the motherboard side. In otherwords, as you push and mount the Video Card onto the motherboard, you must also align and plug in the cable "blind" in the underside of the video card. The 7950 set up does not have this cable.

    I pulled the second 8800 [inboard] video card only, so I can not report on anything unusual under the first card position. But assuming that the cards are identical, then the video board plugs into the motherboard just as the 7950 does, but additionally it has a direct multi-pin cabling from video to video added that the 7950 doesn't have.

    !!! Would you, by any chance, feel like having a go with the digi-cam, and posting some pictures up? That sounds like it might be exactly the motherboard "modification" that had to be made to the 926x to support the 8800M; any clue as to what's being plugged into what (in addition to the fact that the card plugs into the mobo :D )

    No I didn't pay attention when I had it open. I got a score of 8250 on my desktop with Q6600 and 8800gts 320, is there that big of a perforance difference between the Q6600 and Q9450? 2000 points difference?

    I'm curious about that too as I also ordered the diamond plan. According to the sales rep it would cost me $150 for the 9800GTX with my 8800GTX trade in. He also said I could do it myself and would be very simple.

    Shyster1, I'm having the laptop serviced. I poked around because I probably couldn't hurt anything as the Laptop was having some issues anyway, and maybe I could find a trace or trash or ? in the Laptop that was causing the problem, and avoid sending in for service. I thought it 1) was worth a try and 2) wanted to confirm that it was not a memory or video or software issue. Once it comes back working though, I won't poke around in it much.

    Theriko, you may be right about the function of this cable... the question is, Why didn't the 7950's require this sort of cable? The 7950 and 8800 boards use the same MXM plug design, ie. you can still install the 7950 SLI and have it work on the Rev.5 m/b, BUT the 8800 card require an additional communication cable between them that the 7950's do not have. I am not hardware aware by trade to know why this is, but it indicates to me that the MXM alone cannot support the DX10 [8800] Card for some reason, maybe timings or some new issue with this specification that DX9 [7950] is not affected by.

    Where is the best place to be checking for the latest Clevo approval announcements for components for these Laptops. New buyers can talk to sales, but existing users are left checking Vendor sites and here and trying to guess what the latest approvals are.

    For example, most vendors list and offer the E8400 cpu, while it is NOT listed on Clevo's own site as of today.

    Again as an example, if I want to possibly install a E8500 and I want to be "safe" and wait for Clevo approval, exactly where do I check online to get the latest word of the current state of Clevo Factory approval for this model of Laptop? Or if the Q9550 is "officially" added, where is that going to be posted automatically for best customer support? I'm trying to cut thru the confusion.....

    Is there a vendor site that has the "latest news" on these Machines for customer support?

    Actually , the way I remember it, is that the 7950GTX in the D901C is not the same as the one in the RU,it requires the heatsink and fan and whatnot, so it wouldn't work :no:

    Ok. Upgraded a 7950 SLI Laptop to the new m/b and installed a Super Talent SSD Boot Drive. Oc'd video by flash to 600/900/1500. Windows XP Home, 4mb OCZ 6400 ram. E8400 cpu stuck in the mud at standard clock speed.

    PcMark05 test -> 8920
    3dMark06 test -> 14,215

    BTW, if you get goofy messages starting PcMark, reset WindowsXP back to XP style, it chokes on the Display Properties Appearance set to "Windows Classic Style". Ran into this problem before and could not understand their error message...

    The 9261 is my main workhorse, the 5793 is a family system and the good old 8890 is a backup and network machine connected to a photo printer and a scanner.

    With its desktop processor, three harddisks, room for 2 video cards and advanced cooling system the 926x is really the big brother here. Both systems feel very solid. The 579x is much more portable and hotter in terms of looks and temperature :)

    ?? Then that's doubly funny, because I could swear (no, not like a drunken sailor :D ) that the 926x runs cooler than the 579x, although the exhaust air coming out the rear is warmer on the 926x.

    That could be so with three 500gb harddisks, two 8800 video cards and an X6800 Processor running a game like Crysis at full features.

    But in everyday life (doing fairly large spreadsheets and database queries) my NP9261 never revs up. When running idle or with normal load you will never hear the 926x, which cannot be said of the 579x.

    The only disadvantages of the 9261, that I can think of, are its weight - the power brick probably outweights a small laptop - and its rather dull exterior.
