I don't see Sager going and making their powerful laptop, then not giving it the ability for overclocking, but we shall see.
*knock on wood*
-
-
At the very least it will have extreme cpu multiplier overclocking...
-
-
Core i7 laptop without overclock capabilities = epic fail.
-
Imagine an overclocked i7- 965 or even a 975 if they decide to up the anty it be as powerful as any one desktop out there
-
-
The guys at XoticPC gave us screenshots of an i7-965 equipped Sager 9280, but not once mentioned overclockability.
So my speculation is that it's locked, and they're keeping quiet to not spoil sales. -
same with notebook check...they didn't mention over clocking either...if im not mistaken. m980nu
-
-
ahh, i thought that was one of your many great sayings...lol
-
Too much philosophy puzzle with little substances? -
with i7 965 and gtx 280M, can the sager np9280 handle any pc game currently on the market now ?
-
handle...yes.
play 97 percent games better than a w90/np9262/m980nu....not likely.
x3 terran conflict seems to be one of those games where it seems to use only one video card. -
-
-
-
not a problem mupet.
-
Johnksss...last question..do you think Sager NP 9280 will play game flawlessly with anygame (even Crysis) n future game?
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
For a while yes, you should be able to handle most games on high settings for the next 2 years or so, I know that the 280m can handle Warhead at enthuisiast with very good fps and a plethora of other games at full settings... And I wouldn't say anygame think about how crysis (considered the "best graphics") has some notoriously bad programming problems, that cause stuttering and framedrops, Warhead they fixed some of the problems and you saw a huge boost.... The fact is it all depends on the game and how it is produced, think about Call Of Duty 4 which many many systems can handle at full settings above 30fps... The 9280, 9262, W90 or M980NU should handle a game like that full settings above 60fps, and it still has great graphics.
Also remember when looking at high end computers like this dont take 3dMark scores too seriously most of the time it is rediculously overated, most of the time just for bragging rights, gaming benchmarks or real word tests are always better -
it will not play every game flawlessly at it's native resolution.it will how every play very well at lower resolutions, but then that sort of defeats the whole purpose of getting a 1080p or 1200p system on ultra high/ very high/ maxed out including AA/AF. i know we would all love for that to be the truth, but it's far from it. flawless is 60 fps with vertical sync on and maxed settings with no AA/AF for all current games. ( personal opinion) 20 to 40 fps is not fluent. because if that we're really fluent...then no one would buy dual/tri/quad video card machines. for 1050p and up resolutions. (again, personal opinion) -
Sure hope the price for this is under $2500 or I see little "real" competition for the W90.
-
nah, the d900f is in the single gpu class...
the m980nu would be more in the w90's class.... -
-
so for pure gamer, M980NU still the best choice...
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Of course lol it's 18.4" and has Dual GTX 280m's.... although were still to see if it is overclockable... if it isn't then the W90 will still hold the crown
-
And the M980NU crown still pending on GTX280M SLI performance and overclock capabilities . -

Did they overlook this or is it something future. Clevo posted this regarding theD900F...
"Superb laptop with Intel® Core i7 processor, nVIDIA® SLI technology, which are capable to provide increased data reliability and increased I/O performance. D900F is designed for multimedia entertainment, gaming, work station, and desktop replacement."

MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
MMMM... I thought it was strange that they couldn't put 2 280's in the D900F... I mean isn't the 280m supposed to be a shrinked DI that was more powerful, or is it simply heat? although the D900F has one the best cooling systems there is.... Frustration and now I'm being tempted by the new Alienwares.....

But, i also heard that it is not an option now for the 9280 but, for the future...possible...Who knows?..Maybe give us something to look foward to
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Does the 9280 have dual GPU slots?
-
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
So I see, So I see... are you sure this isn't a 9262 though... or does this mean somebody has already put dual 280's in a 9280? and is that the Ram underneath the GPU's?
-
are you guys not seeing where the moved the ram to?
-
I have seen these pics before...Justin from Xotic posted them...He said it's from the 9280
-
Check out the bottom of this page...Why don't they change their website if no SLI config. is the case?... http://www.pctorque.com/sager-9280-gaming-computers.php#
-
Because of the i7's sheer size, power requirements, and thermal output, they had to move the memory out of the way (size) as well as remove a GPU (power). So what are you not understanding? There will not be an i7 sli setup until intel shrinks the die.
Yes they could have removed an HDD to make room for the memory, but you still have a power problem. By setting the memory aside in place of the GPU, they did have the side-benefit of room for 3 DIMM slots and thus triple channel support. -
when i over clock my gpu's running a 130 watt cpu...the watts get up to 300+ and the power adapter is rated at 220 watts...you'll know when you pass your limits when your battery light flicks on for about 5 seconds or so, then cutts back to green or full charge.... -
I understand that...But these resellers need to get that SLI capabilities off there websites so they don't misdirect people into buying something that isn't there...I know, you know, and everybody else knows on the forums but not the poor guy that thought he was getting 2 cards, when infact he only gets 1..Ya i see taht Jonhksss...They know about it i have asked them about it...and it's still there...Thats when they told me that it is a future upgrade...
-
personally..... i think he was mixing the two models up. they have been doing that lately....some say you can't get two gpus in the m980nu, but you will beable to add one later...now how many people do you think are gonna want to go for that one there....
me, hell to the no! give me my 2 gpus now! is what i say...but...we will know soon enough. since this is not a fact only what has been passed around.... -
ya it will be interesting to see what happens in the future...I hope this becomes an option. But dont really see how it could be possible in the D900f
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Lol KY I just saw your profile on a different site... does it switch over? or did you just make another...
"No laptop GPU is ever going to be as strong as its Desktop counterpart. When we tested the W90 with the 4870x2 vs. the GTX280 in the 9280 ...the crisis benchmark had the GTX280 beating the 4870's by almost 10fps.
Even though something is better on paper, which the 4870's are, doesn’t mean that it is the same in the real world. Even though the 4870's might beat a single GTX280 in a benchmark, testing on the actual application (video games) shows the GTX280 coming out ahead.
Nvidia has consistently come out with good software for their graphics cards. Driver 185.81 just came out and on my GTX280 at home it increased my fps by around 10-30% depending on the game. I get to test out every graphics card on the market and I personally choose Nvidia". -
ya i seen that too...that was another guy asking about the 280 GTX and if it was as powerful as the 4870X2...He copied a earlier post and pm'd whoever he was buying his laptop from and that was the answer the seller told him...

MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Hey off topic, but are you In the service... or perhaps do you like airsoft?
-

MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
...Well Do you like Airsoft or paintball?
-
I used to play about 10 years ago with some friends...I'm in China right now working. can't really find anytime for that stuff anymore...I have spent almost 1 year in China off and on since 2007...
-
Did I hear right that even though the 9280 supports the new i7-965 extreme, the BIOS does not allow overclocking?
