Hi all. I would like Some advice
    I have a P751DM-G with a GTX 970M and a delidded I7-6700K.
With some minor undervolting @ 4,4 it runs its benchmark without throtthling.

The bios is Some “obscure” Hansung version I flashed long time ago
    Bios version 1.05.04THG
    KBC/EC REV 1.05.01
    ME FW version 11.0.0.1178

I want a 9900k in it. (If it runs at 4,0 or more on all eight cores without overheating I would be happy. Will this work?
Would you rather advice a 9700k?
Underclocking the GTX for more powerheadroom and less heat would be fine by me.

How do I install Windows on a nvme ssd 970 EVO? Just with UEFI or Do I need special tricks for this?

Will I have extra risk flashing the bios because of this hansung version?

Do you have some tips applying the pin mod?

Clevo 1080 won't work in the DM1 series without significant modding.

you could also opt for the quadro P5200 route:

Pros: standard MXM layout (no case modding necessary), identical to Clevo 980M (thus no heatsink modding necessary), same amount of cores as a 1080, 16 GB of vRAM
Cons: scarce availability (currently only on TaoBao), high price (no news here concerning mobile gpus :p), slower vRAM than 1080 (GDDR5 vs. GDDR5X)

Performance at stock is between 1070 and 1080, but close to the latter (1080 about 15% faster). so a mild overclock should bring it on par ;)

That could be a good option, but I don't care about modding the case/cooler

You’d also have to mod the MXM slot and external power cable for the GPU board.

there were a misunderstanding, my bad. What I have is a P775 (XMG U716), anyway any mod would be not a problem, soon or later I'm going to do it.

Doesn't matter the mods I'll should do to make it, if it is doable, I don't care.

    It is a XMG U716 (P775DM1)

yeah, I saw this one before, but the thing is to see it done in a P775DM1. Because unlike the P870, the P775 doesn't have enough space on the right of the MXM slot...

I thought done it changing the fan cooler size and modifying the case: csm_MG_7259_7c94bf5660.jpg Db0LT6WV4AAo4YC.jpg

If it wasn't possible, I think there are other interesting options:

    - as jaybee83 adviced, quadro P5200
    - 980m (physx) + 1080/2080 egpu (20% loss)

    I'm thinking on buying a 9900k.

Did you had to change the pads to cool the 9900k or the ones that come from Clevo work? How does the 9900k behave in terms of temperature? Thanks

id recommend using high quality pads to cool the CPU VRMs and chokes. although you will most likely hit CPU temp limit before power delivery becomes a problem :)

still, for 3mm+ i recommend Phobya Ultra and 0.5-1.5mm either Arctic Thermal Pads (price/performance king) or Fujipoly/Alphacool Eisschicht/Sarcon 14 W/mK (ultra performance, actually deliver better temps than the 17 W/mK pads due to better texture).

Still an opportunity to run into some stability problems with your maxed overclock due hot vrm temps althoug cpu is below throttle temp. They can still be hotter than cpu in max load. Depends on current status on the pads.

dm1 as dm3, dm3 has more space for mxm cards or... correct me but I can't see enough space in my dm1 (on the right) for a 1080

I guess I have not clue about it (I'm new in the clevo world), would be great to see some photos from a dm1 (or dm3, if its the same) with a gtx 1080 installed and all the necesary modifications

Windows 10 Device Manager reports that the GTX980M driver cannot function properly.

Installing the driver is the same.

I had the same problem with a different laptop you need find proper Vbios but there is no Guaranty that it will gonna work. I have the same code when try to install Nvidia Quadro K5000m.
the card detected and worked until 1-st reboot. and after Blue Screen. After I found Vbios after flashing it. got black screen but HDMI worked but no internal screen.
try to boot in Legacy or UEFI mode. Good luck

Hey there, tiny question regarding the Clevo P870KM Systems.

From what I gathered in these forums is that The Bios Mods found for the P870KM Models are only supporting either the 8th gen or the 9th gen but not both?
Also both need the Pin mod to work, is that correct?

Because whatever Clevo representative claimed that their "in-house modded" Version for the P870KM would support both 6th/7th/8th/9th gen without changing anything and also it would not need the pin modification for it to work properly.
Does it mean the Clevo Bios solution is different from the one provided here? And is this even possible or are they janking the consumers chain here?

I would love to have some insight into it.

I had 75hz screen previously. I don't play FPS games that much so probably wont use that 144hz frequently - but i was missing g-sync so im really satisfied. And also 144hz for one 1080 is a bit overkill in my opinion. I would have to play in medium/low settings to hold 144fps in most games.

I bought it from @ Frits@LaptopParts4Less for around 105 euro with cable. Really satisfied with their service. And yes, i changed cable.

I don't know which re seller you're talking about. But most probably it is this free bios branded "as theirs" (which in my opinion is just theft). Just to make extra money on someone else work.

This bios is supporting all gens of CPU. In some cases other gens than 9th may work at lower cloak speeds. You can use this BIOS without pin modes. it just might burn 2 pins on motherboard - which noticeably wont affect anything like performance or stability.

Does anyone know if after applying this Bios mod you can still use legacy (NON UEFI) boot?

For example if you have an operating system that is installed to an internal drive using Legacy rather than UEFI will it still function after this BIOS mod and changing boot mode to Legacy CSM?

Also can anyone verify whether the Legacy boot (CSM) option is still available after applying this BIOS mod?

For thermal, gaming and emulator standpoint what's best for a P9870DM3-G notebook? A 8700K delidded or 9900K CPU? I have both available to upgrade.

For now I'm using a delidded 7700K which reached thermal throttling on stock when using XTU's benchmark, so set -100mw on XTU and decreased a little max turbo settings and now its ok for normal use(gaming).
