Well, it just does not work like that. A wrong SSL certificate may mean several things. The best option is that it's just really expired, the worst possibility is that the site has been hacked and my 2000 bucks go to someone else.

So, until the thing is not fixed, I surely won't buy from mySN...

Edit: anyways, Monday morning I'll call their support center to inform them of the situation.

Hi guys. I'm a developer/gamer and I just got a nice job so I guess it's time to have a better machine. I have some questions and I also appreciate any input.

    Specs i'm aiming for
    Models: w704 (17") or w504 (15")
Processor: i7 4910MQ (mostly for the extra +2mb L3 cache)
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 8GB
Memory: 32GB Crucial ballistix Sport (I use all that ram with virtual machines, database engines and data processing)
Hard Drive: 1000GB/8GB 5400 Sata-III SSHD (will add my own Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD)
Optical Drive: Blue-ray Burner/DVD-RW (there's no option to have no optical drive so get the best one)
Wifi: Intel Dual band Wireless-AC 7260 (w/ Bluetooth)
Keyboard: UK English (will be using external keyboard)
OS: Windows 8.1 pro 64bit (you can customize it to be almost a windows 7 but faster)
Keyboard: UK English (will be using external keyboard)
Power cable: Not sure if UK or EU (if EU is compatible with UK i'll grab that)

    I have some questions:
    1) If I open the laptop to install my own Samsung 256GB 840 Pro SSD, will it void the warranty?
    2) If I install my SSD in a laptop that already has a 1000gb HD, can the SSD be configured as primary HD for installing the operating system?
    3) This might be stupid but: Does the w704 has much better cooling? I'm worried that w504 15" will get too hot, too often. I don't use CPU all that much, don't overclock and I don't mind underclocking.
    4) Is it worth buying a secondary battery? Will it worn out if not used for 2 years?
    5) Is w704 or w504 monitor IPS?
    6) I'm a bit afraid to buy a 4th gen i7 laptop now that 5th gen is imminent. What do you think?
    7) What is NVIDIA Pick your Path Bundle?
    8) Is the EU power cable compatible with UK?

watch out for black friday deals everyone :)

Hi Bubu and welcome to nbr

i cant answer all of them but here goes
    1) clevo laptops are user upgradable so will not void warranty.
    2) yup sure can but ive never had to do this so best others advise.
    3) no idea but i guess a 17" has more space than a 15" so might well have better cooling.
    4) ive had 2 clevo's. first one battery died within a year. second battery is still going strong after 5 years and still has 78% charge. a second battery is always worth it if you are out and about for hours without mains power.
    5)no idea
    6) its just the way it goes. tech is old after 6 months as the turnaround is so high with new models and upgrades appearing all the time.
    7) no idea.
    8) EU is 2 pin plug and UK is a 3 pin. you can buy a travel converter plug so it can be used in both countrys.

i would also contact sales who are very helpful and will be able to answer better than me.

    hope that helps

    Hi Mickelangelo

I've successfully ordered from the UK site and received my XMG P504 before Christmas...

I've only encountered the SSL issue from my works PC and not seen any issues from my home laptop though

wilpang- glad to hear that your P504 arrived safely before Christmas!

The SSL certificate issue was very temporary and it was only on the 24th November on the .eu website for short period of time. No security was compromised and so there's nothing to worry about!

Mickelangelo - If you have tried to order more recently and you haven't heard anything from the EU office after failed transactions then I would recommend contacting your card company to check if they put a temporary block on the transaction. This does actually happen quite often, it's just the card companies being careful. If you haven't received a reply from your emails, please pm me here with your order number and the email address that you sent the mail from - I will speak to the EU office and check what happened :)

    Hi vulf

The C703 is not available from us any longer, it was launched a while ago and the GPU was previous generation - ultimately been replaced by the much more powerful XMG 705!

    Hi

If you compare that specification - 970M, 16GB RAM, 500GB Samsung EVO 850, AUO 1080p panel, no Windows our website price is £1,404. The same specification Defiance is listed as £1,358 on their website. The difference is only £46, please feel free to contact us directly (I'm in the UK office) and we will see what we can do for you :)

There are a couple of factors which can make us look more expensive than we are, for example our standard warranty is full 24 months Collect and Return Warranty - some companies may have a 1 Year warranty as standard so wouldn't be comparable to our standard offering!

Okay, will do, as I'm still seeing more difference than I would like with my own comparison,..
Yes, I did see that you offered a full 24 months Collect and Return Warranty as standard (PCSpecialist charge £69 for the nearest comparable warranty), which is re-assuring.
BTW do you offer a "no dead pixel" screen guarantee like some other resellers?

BTW is the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 (with Bluetooth) offered as an option for the P505 also compatible with wireless N? The router my ISP (Virgin Media) currently offers is only Wireless-N, though I understand they intend to roll out AC wireless routers later in the year

The 7265 is backwards compatible so no issues there! I have replied to your pm regarding the price and other questions.

We don't offer a specific dead pixel warranty extension, but there is an article in our Knowledgebase (through our website) that covers the LCD panel cover. I can't link to it directly because it's not allowed under company account nbr rules but you can find it on xmg.co.uk Support>Knowledgebase from the top menu on the front page.

    hi
as its the weekend you might not get a reply until monday.
ive seen reviews on here varying from 4-10 days depending on spec and parts in stock but only mysn can give a rough timescale.

if you post here the spec you was thinking of buying then you would get a quicker response instead of them replying monday and asking the same question so they can check stock availability before they reply.

    Hi

The build time last week was 2 business days and delivery to Amsterday would be 1-2 business days on top of this. Our usual build schedule is 3-4 business days so last week was particularly efficient, but as long as your bank transfer doesn't take too long to arrive then you should expect your alptop to arrive in around a week's time!

The stock P504 panel is generally regarded as being very good, it is a TN panel opposed to an IPS that you would find in the P505 however.

but, AHVA/IPS display in my list , is it TN??
"IPS (In Plane Switching) panels are generally considered the best overall LCD technology for image quality, color accuracy and viewing angles. They are well suited for graphics design and other applications which require accurate and consistent color reproduction. IPS panels offer the best viewing angles of any current LCD technology, with wide viewing angles up to 178 degress"

    No problem!

You were asking about the panel of the P504, but the specification that you posted is from the C504 configuration page. P504 only has TN panel options, C504 has only IPS panel options :)

The XMG P505 I recently ordered from mysn.co.uk arrived (from Germany) in 3 days, which I was quite impressed by. The specification I ordered is as in my signature, though I ordered it with only the minimum 4GB of Kingston 1600Mhz RAM, as wanted to upgrade the RAM to 16GB 2133Mhz* Corsair Vengeance RAM myself - I made sure to ask them to install the 4GB module in one of the lower slots, not one of the under-the-keyboard slots, so I could change this easily, which they did. I'm very pleased with my purchase and MySN customer support was very helpful in answering my questions during the ordering process (e.g. they confirmed that all their P505 models come with a 180W power supply, not just 150W one, unlike some 970M Clevo P65xSE models, and also that they use Arctic MX-2 thermal paste).

BTW the bead-blasted finish and laser-etched XMG logo on MySN's models looks fantastic, much nicer than the brushed effect on some other Clevos and the gaudy badges some resellers use.

As far as I've been able to tell, my XMG has no issues, such as dead pixels or light bleeding on the display and CPU temps seem to be pretty good when running XTU stress tests etc.

    * NB: the stock XMG bios will only run 2133Mhz RAM at 1866Mhz, but I flashed my Bios to the Prema Mod bios, which allows it to run at it's full 2133Mhz speed.

No worries, people are often vocal when they encounter problems, but good service doesn't always get a mention, so I thought I'd say something here.

The only thing I thought was a shame/missed opportunity, was not to offer a laptop sleeve that perfectly fits the P505. MSI provide one for free with the GS60, though as long as the price wasn't ridiculous, I would have paid for one from my P505, if this had been made available, even with XMG branding.

Yup you're right! It can sometimes look like negative experiences with any company out-weigh the positive experiences!

Did you request a non-branded P505? The XMG branded version comes with a free laptop sleve which is also branded XMG but the non-branded version doesn't.

I have the XMG branded version (I didn't see an option for a non-branded version, but like the subtle lazer-etched XMG branding anyway), it came with a thin cloth laptop sleeve, which is better than nothing, but it's not going to protect the machine against anything but dust.

I was thinking of something padded, to protect it against knocks in a bag, like MSI supply with their GS60

The Core series C404 and C405 come with a padded bag but to be honest with something 15.6" and over (in fact I would recommend it for any laptop) you'd have much more protection by using a bag with a specific laptop section such as the Pakuma range.

Sure those Pakuma bags are nice, and I do have a messenger bag with a padded laptop compartment that's (just!) big enough to fit my P505, but the advantage of a fitted laptop sleeve is that you can then use it in any large enough bag, be it carry-on luggage for a flight, bicycle pannier etc..

hey all. A lurker here, old Clevo fan who just ordered a P505 from MySN.co.uk to replace an ageing W150ERQ.

Now, my question is whether MySN are registered for the nVidia bundle offer? nVidia seem to be offering Batman Arkham Knight with any GTX 960+ or GTX970m+ card.

    Hi

P505 is a great choice and very popular at the moment! Definite a big difference between that and your W150 in terms of performance of course but also build quality and materials :)

The promotion was for Batman with desktop GPUs and Witcher for 970M or 980M. We did participate in this and will always do so for any future promotions but unfortunately this particular Nvidia promotion finished at the end of May. I'd offer to send you a code but once the way that the registration system works we can't do this once it officially ends.

If you took advantage of our free 240GB M.2 or SSD promotion on the P505 you should have saved quite a packet on the system;-)

I did indeed take advantage of the SSD offer. Great deal!

I know that the Withcer 3 promotion ended, but nVidia currently has the same thing going but with Batman Arkham Knight - http://www.geforce.co.uk/games-applications/pc-games/batman-arkham-knight/bundle. Not a deal breaker if you guys are not registered for it, just asking the question :)

Very excited to receive the laptop! The order status changed to "in production" yesterday so should hopefully get it by the end of next week ^^

We always participate in the Nvidia promotions, it's just that the dates that Nvidia puts on the T&Cs do not always match up with when companies like us can actually start to offer the promotion. We can't offer it for example until the codes are sent to us, but if you're in the right timeframe then I'm sure production will send you a code with your laptop!

I'm wondering if XMG has any ETA on how soon after the release of Skylake, they will start supplying them in their systems?
I'm considering buying a laptop at the end of August and XMg are my top choice right now. I'm wondering if its worth waiting a month more for a Skylake system or reductions in the current models?

    Hi

As a very broad comment, we are usually the first in Europe to have new chassis available - however Skylake is still under NDA and this holds me back from saying any more. You should expect to hear some news in August, but you might not have all the answers you need. Unfortunately it's just a case of waiting; we know what will happen and when, but can't say anything until we are allowed to talk openly about it when the Intel NDAs clear.
