it is good that mysn don't feel the need to offer discounts to get sales unlike nearly all other companies in the same field. they know they have a quality product that folks pay full prices for.
my local chinese takeaway which has been run by the same people for 30 years don't and never have offered free delivery unlike every takeaway in the same field. why? they know they are one of the best in town, know that customers will pay full price and make the trip to come to buy their food.
-
-
And I would be careful with comparing a notebook reseller with a food shack, all that mysn does is putting pre-made components together and flashing in the custom bios - which - judging by this forum is inferior to a prema bios.
Anyway, it is obviously they right not to offer discounts - just surprised by your arguments there... -
i'm simply using an analogy. two companies that know they can sell their products without the need to discount. why are you even considering mysn if they offer the 'inferior' builds you claim?
-
Anyway, no point to argue, I don't think the argument that lack of discounts suggests a higher product quality is valid but ofc. you can think otherwise. -
"Quality product" these days often means a lot more than just the physical item. Though we do the same as other companies i.e. install components in a chassis (there's not really any other way to do it!!!), production is only part of the company.
RE the BIOS, it's quite difficult to compare the Prema one to ours - or in fact anyone else's. The BIOS that we use is integrated into a large number of orders every day, therefore it has be considered bearing in mind:
1/ The vast majority of customers do not know how to or want to overclock their laptops at BIOS level
2/ They don't need access to other features that the Prema version offers
3/ We supply our BIOS with a full warranty, therefore if the usage of the BIOS we provide causes any issues whatsoever in one of our laptops, we must be prepared to support it. I wouldn't dream of taking anything away from Prema's expertise, but they aren't being made available in a product for high volume custom integration.
4/ on the fan table topic, this is done through the EC rather than the BIOS and in this regard we do the R&D internally - so this is definitely an area which is exclusive to our products.
So whilst the Prema BIOS offers more control, this is of course not because we aren't capable of providing the same options; rather that we have very different considerations in what we can make available to our customers.
EDIT - to add to the above, we should make it clear that whenever possible we take on board customers comments and requests regarding BIOS and EC updates - as seen in many past issues such as fan control, backlighting control through Fn keys, boot options and a lot more.
This is why we always encourage our customers to provide direct feedback to us where possible (it is admittedly often easier to do this through email so that we can gather more specific information). The more feedback that we receive, the faster and better we can act to integrate improvements into official BIOS and EC releases! -
ok so looks like the m504 is now available in the uk
mySN.co.uk | XMG | Schenker Technologies - Schenker M504 15" Laptop
my ol' eyes need a 15.6" so i can't go smaller than this. the fact that it is a matte ips-panel is just the icing. few things i'm not so sure on regarding the config i need
1 - which processor?
2 - what ram amount?
3 - 500gb is enough space. do i go for the 5400 seagate or 7200 wd?
4 - what wifi card?
this will be used at home primarily with the odd trip out so a 70/30 split between home and travel. main use is running a online business inc plenty of web use. i'll watch the odd movie and tons of catch up tv online. is gaming possible on this unit? -
so what happened to your 14" alienware??
if you could give your maximum budget and what you intend using it for it would sure help members give clearer advice.
what sort of games do you like to play, few years old or new AAA titles.
do you do cad work, use photoshop, HD video rendering, photo manipulation software etc etc
1 - which processor?
personally i would say quad if you can afford it.
2 - what ram amount?
8gb is plenty and can be upgraded by yourself at a later stage if you needed more
3 - 500gb is enough space. do i go for the 5400 seagate or 7200 wd?
minimum WD 7200 which are great spindle drives and if you can afford an ssd even better as these are super fast
4 - what wifi card?
on the advise of mysn i upgraded to the 6235 and its not let me down yet. dont know about the others so cant advise.
as it has optimus it will be great on battery life and when something demanding is needed it will switch to the nvidia 850gtx.
looking in you above link on the right the gaming bar shows just about half so it can game but most probably not on the highest settings but mysn will be able to advise on these new 8** gpu's. -
@mrdj
i'm still keeping the aw14, i'll use that just for gaming. the m504 will purely be for work and a few other things as mentioned above. my max budget would be £900 i think. as much as i'd like an ssd, i think it would tip things over budget.
i'd been looking at the dell 15 7537 New Inspiron 15 7000 Series Touch Laptop Details | Dell UK
and also the hp 15-j105sa HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j105sa Laptop with 2 yr warranty - HP Store UK
but came across schenker through this forum, liked the look of them and thought it would be good to support a smaller company rather than keep throwing money at the big boysi want something that will last a good amount of time. i'm still using a 6yr old dell inspiron 6400 for work and that will be the unit i will be replacing.
-
if its purely for work then you could drop the cpu to an i5 instead of the i7 quad.
clevo's are built to last. im on my second now and my previous is over 6 years old and still going strong. that has the western digital black 7200 drive that still works perfectly.
when you get a chance i would have a chat with them on live chat. they dont try and sell you something you dont need and actually saved me almost £500 as i was going to go top spec on everything and they said for what i wanted it for i wouldnt need to max it out.
good luck with your decisions whichever way you go.alphabetagaga likes this. -
thanks i'll give them a call tomorrow. one thing i forget to mention. win 8 or win 7? price is the same. quite like the idea of what win 8 may throw up in the future. but also like the 'safety' of going with win 7
-
ill give you a clue
xp good, vista crap, 7 good, 8 well you know the score
honestly i have no idea as ive never tried 8 so cant really answer that one. -
update to my previous posts. phoned mysn uk yesterday. got routed to the germany side of things. really very helpful guy. spoke good english, patient and explained in detail the benefits of this and that. certainly didn't try and force a sale which is important i think. came away with 2 options. just need to decide if i want a dedicated gpu or not. my 6yr old inspiron has a dedicated nvidia (geforce go 7300). it has never failed me and i tend to think having that rather than intergrated graphics has been one of the key reasons why i can still use it today. but for my work i need something new.
the 2 models i'm looking at
Schenker B513 15.6" Notebook £856
15.6" (39.6 cm) Full-HD 1920x1080 Matte IPS-Panel
Intel HD Graphics 4600
i7-4700MQ Quad Core - 2.40 - 3.40GHz 6MB 47W
8GB (1x8192) SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM 1600MHz Crucial
500GB SATA-II 5400rpm Seagate Momentus (ST500LM0012)
120GB mSATA SSD Samsung EVO (MZ-MTE120BW)
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (with Bluetooth)
Windows 8.1 64 Bit
SCHENKER M504 15.6" Notebook £975
15.6" (39.6 cm) Full-HD 1920x1080 Matte IPS-Panel
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M 2048MB DDR3
i7-4700MQ Quad Core - 2.40 - 3.40GHz 6MB 47W
8GB (1x8192) SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM 1600MHz Crucial
500GB SATA-II 5400rpm Seagate Momentus (ST500LM0012)
120GB mSATA SSD Samsung EVO (MZ-MTE120BW)
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (with Bluetooth)
Windows 8.1 64 Bit
same weight on both (2.5kg). my max budget was £900. but with the inclusive '24 month collect & return warranty' and the fact that these things are actually assembled in germany, i would be willing to spend a little extra. -
ive not seen either of them 2 models but they do look nice and slim compared to my P series.
my HD4000 does everything i need for everyday use and the nvidia card only kicks in for high end use like gaming and hd video rendering so the first one does sound good. but for me i always like to have a dedicated card just in case i needed a bit more oomph somewhere down the road.
hopefully some other members will reply and give their advice. -
Anyone know why the uk sites online chat is never up . Rang these guys No answer
. i see that guys from the mysn de seem to be on the forums can you guys hook me up ?

Any particular reason a laptop with 860m costs 1100 euro and the exact same laptop with 870m costs 1450-1500? Always wondered why they have such a disparity.
-
Which laptop are you looking at in particular? The two chassis that we offer a choice between both these GPUs are the W504 and W704 - the upgrade price is 163€ from 860M to 870M! -
I haven't given prema's bios a shot yet, but I'd like to address this weird issue first if anything. How can having a cooler on have such an effect..
Cheers -
When will mySN UK be getting the P377SM-A in stock?
-
When we evaluated the P377SM we decided not to stock the model because, amongst other reasons, we weren't happy with design / quality and due to customer feedback. As a result of this, we actually decided not to stock the P377SM-A either and there aren't any imediate plans to change this decision - sorry.
If you're looking for an dual GPU laptop then you may wish to look at our XMG P724 (I can't link to our website it as this is a reseller account)! -

I ordered my laptop on mysn.eu. When I was about to confirm my order, I added a comment concerning the screen.
An email came the next day (in french, my mother tongue : apparently, the guy saw I was living in Belgium and that my last name sounded french so he answered in both french and English, a nice surprise). He also called me on my cellphone, sadly I was working so I could not answer.
When I called back, I was dispatched to a German, who spoke a more than correct English. He than passed me through to his french speaking colleague, who was right behind him waiting for my call ^^.
All this to say that I was really pleased with the customer service, and that they tried their best to make me comfortable by allowing me to speak my mother tongue. A nice touch right there.
I payed a little more than on the other websites, but the customer service was more than worth it.
A solid 9/10 for my experience.MrDJ likes this. -
I just found mySN and I'm really impressed. I'm looking for a laptop for 3-4 months and I couldn't find anything until now. I'm thinking about to buy the XMG A504 and I have two question. I saw that I could upgrade the screen but it says that it's out of stock. It will be in stock again in the near future or it's sold out forever? And my second question is that I'm living in Hungary and I'm going to start the uni in september. Is there any discount for non-german buyers and for customized configurations?
Oh and I almost forgot it: Is there any option to replace the bezel around the screen to a non-glare one? (My previous laptop has a matte bezel and I really liked it.)
(Sorry about the grammar mistakes, I'm still learning the language) -
Hi!
The 95% panel has unfortunately been discontinued by the panel manufacturer AUO, rather to be more precise the production run has ended but it is possible that they may start to manufacture it again in the future. As a result of this we have not taken the option off the website configuration pages - rather it is there with a clearn unknown ETA. So at the moment it isn't available and we don't have a god idea of when it will be available. The standard panel is very good however and if you are a pro photographer or videographer then the standard panel is more than suitable for you!
If you are in Hungary then you would need to place your order through our mysn.eu website and contact the EU office from the Contact Us page, they will get back to you if they can make you an offer.
The screen bezel is part of the chassis so it unfortunately can be changed.
No worries on the English, pretty much perfect -

Hi there, i'm new in this forum. I would love if you could help me with my new purchase.
I was thinking about buying a new 17'' laptop and I recently found mysn. I'm impressed with the specifications and prices of the different models, also with the posibility of configuring it totally.
I'm doubting between the C703, the A704 and the M704.
I'm looking for these specs: i7 47XX, 8GB RAM, 500HDD+128SSD. About the Nvidia i don't really mind if i get the GTX765, 850 or 860 as i am not a extreme gamer, although I'd want to be able to play recent games at least in medium graphics (could I with the 765?). I don't really care about the DVD unit either.
So, having them all the same specs, the only differences between them are the weight and size, the battery life, the temperatures they reach under load, the noise levels and the price (not really worried about price as the difference might be about 150€
My main concern is about the noise levels (specially in idle) and the temperatures they can get, specially if they can reach and exceed 90ºC.
I've just been able to read some reviews about the C703, and it seems to be quite loud and hot (I suppose it's normal as it is the thinnest).
I could neither read anything about the M704 nor the A704. How they behave? is the fan noise annoying in idle/load? I think, right now, I would choose the M704 because of its lower price, its backlit keyboard and shorter height, but probably it would cause more noise and temperature....aghhh!!!.
Please, help me with the decision. I wish I could read some review about them.
Thanks for your time!! -
Hi and welcome to nbr.
ive had a hunt around and cant find a review for the 17" M704 but to give you an idea this is a review of the
M504 15" Review Clevo W650SJ (Schenker M504) Barebones Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews
and
A504 15" Review Clevo W355SS (Schenker XMG A504) Barebones Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews
and just in case you havnt seen this review here is the C703 17" Schenker XMG C703 - Notebookcheck.net External Reviews
here you can compare the various graphics cards you mentioned above against some of the main games avaialble to give an idea how they compare Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards - NotebookCheck.net Tech
my XMG P502 will be 2 years old in august
for every day use using the intel HD4000 graphics its 90% silent all the time. depending on ambient room temperature if it does get hot then the fan normally sits on its lowest spin and all i can hear is a slight hum in the background.
when i do start something demanding like gaming then the nvidia 680 will kick in and of course the fans will ramp up as the hardware can get quite hot but this is the same for every high end laptop on the market.
if i was in a library then yes the fans would be quite loud but who goes to a library to game. for every day tasks the fans are hardly noticeable.
BUT this is just an idea as mine is the P series and different from the models youve mentioned above.
hopefully some owners will be able to give better feedback.
hope that helps. -
Thank you so much MrDJ!! You have been very helpful since i didn't know the equivalences between those schenker laptops and clevo ones.
Unfortunately it seems the only laptop without temperature and/or noise issues is the A504 (I hope the A704 behaves well too), which is the biggest, the heaviest and the ugliest of those three. Besides, it is the only one without backlit(the A504 has it, but the A704 hasn't), but hey, it still seems to be a good option.
If anyone have any of these laptops i'd glad to hear what you have to say:thumbsup:
Thanks!! -
You have to expect heat and noise when you are getting a Haswell machine and especially with a discrete GPU. Haswell has operating temperature that are considered normal at 80+C temperature and the graphics cards can pump out the power of a desktop card which of course will be loud when it's being used. This is a trade off you make for a high performance machine.
If you run the machine on power saving mode, it chokes the CPU frequency as low as it can go for a given task which keeps the heat and thus the noise down but you will not find a high performance machine that doesn't get loud when it's being used.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk -
Of course i expect some noise running demanding programs or games, but i would like to avoid to buy a laptop which is noisy even in idle.
As can be read in those reviews above, the C703 model seems to be noisy even in idle mode, and the about the M504 they say that the rpm of the fans sometimes increased annoyingly just browsing on the net and in Office aplications. That's really sad.
Maybe i'm giving too much importance to the noise issue, but i am very sensitive with that because of my loud old desktop pc (41-42 Db in idle)...So, i would be content with a enough quiet laptop in idle. -
all i can say is my equivalent P series below which was the most powerful when the EM series was released is totally silent while using the intel 4000 except if ambient room temperatures are very warm and then there is a mild hum with fans on lowest setting.
even though its summer here its only 14c in london today but it was 23c a few weeks back. -

Well, just ordered an A504 with MySN UK.
Asked a lot of question to their Sales support (talked with Jack, great guy) and got answered in less than 24h everytime.
Hopefully it will arrive next week and with everything working perfectly (I'll go abroad in 1 month). -
anybody has schenker W704 CPU max temperature data after intel stress test? i can't find test data for this model but previous model seems to be weak in thermal design.

Guys what do you think of this setup? is it good? the i5 is good or the i7 is far better? i'll use the pc for gaming and STREAMING. there will be sales, coupon or stuff like that since i have under 1000euros right now. Why i can't find anywhere reviews/unboxing of the a704? How many days it will take to arrived in Italy ( Rome ) . TY -
hi
i cant advise much with the dual core processors as i know nothing about them. the minimum quad i7 4710MQ is an extra 72 euro's but it would be future proof for the foreseeable future if you ever wanted to do anything more demanding.
will you be upgrading the hard drive yourself as the 5400 is the slowest you can get now (not sure if the momentus will help much) . i would defo if you can upgrade to a minimum of a 7200rpm western digital black for an extra 15 euro's.
with the above included it works out at 1,056
could you stretch to this or are you defo maxxed at 1000euro's.
this is the best place to search for external reviews but as you said there are none for A704 posted yet http://www.notebookcheck.net/Reviews.55.0.html
i would also contact sales at mysn as their representatives might be able to advise a better selection than me. -
