Excellent!! Good luck with your parcel :)

Basically installation has been really easy, no problems at all here. Just installed Win8 Extreme Edition 64bit on the SSD (as I went with the NoOS option) then I went through the book and installed the drivers in order it said and now I'm just finalizing copying of the games.

Time to see what this monster can do!! Got a bit of Metro 2033 and Black Mesa gameplay planned for tonight, oh and some Dead Space too :D

    Oooh now that is lush.

I think my first test will be a Skyrim run through with all the bells and whistles (retextures, meshes, more of everything). I was um-ing and ah-ing about 8.1 but the guys just about finished testing the drivers by the time I placed the order so im good to go. Ill just wait until MySN releases the drivers and BIOS on their website before I touch them.

Can't wait for it to arrive! I know tomorrow will be sunday, but you can guarantee ill keep checking the tracker like some sort of mug!

meanwhile, enjoy yours for me Geko!

Sorry for the late reply mate, been manic at work. Take it you already got your machine?? Are you happy? Planning to post any pics?

Btw, mine is running like a beast. Metro Last Light = 35-60FPS on very high settings with Tesselation enabled and 1080p!! On one HD 8970M I find that's amazing! :D

Splinter Cell Blacklist looks awesome too, getting about the same FPS on high. :)

Hello, I've decided to get an xmg a503 from mysn.eu, is there any discount I can find (perhaps a student one), or perhaps any upcoming sales in the following couple months? Living in Switzerland if it matters.

Hmm, there's a top offer in mysn.de where I save about 70-80€, interesting..

(double post so I maybe get to send pms soon)
    2 questions about mysn.de:
1st: where do I actually send the money for "prepayment"? I didn't get any bank account or anything in the mail for the order
2nd and a bit more specific: isn't the price supposed to exclude VAT when shipping to Switzerland? It says so in the shipping page, but the price on the order includes the full 19%. Mysn.eu always automatically excludes the vat in the price when i set it to Switzerland. Do they have any sales email I can contact them (in english) like mysn.eu?

    Hi there!

1st: you will get our bank account as soon as we confirmed your order. This should've been done meanwhile.
2nd: you can exlude the VAT from your payment when shipping to Switzerland, no problem. Our current main shop system does not deduct the VAT automatically but you can do it yourself. Our next shop system is already coming along and will be more versatile and targeted for international business.

For any questions you can write to [email protected] or you just reply to any automatic e-mail you got from us.

You can also visit our live chat at mySN.de | SCHENKER XMG | Schenker Technologies - English speaking channel will come soon as well! :)

    Cheers!

All good, got the money transfered already.
For future reference, do you know if the "free return shipping labels" are available for Switzerland as well? It's probably not a big deal as the place I work has both french and swiss post addresses, but I'm curious.

Currently we don't offer free return labels for Switzerland due to customs issues. This is subject to change in the future though.

Hi, I ordered a P703 a few days ago, it came without OS and Im having some problems trying to install AMD drivers, I tried Windows 7 and 8 but it doesn't seem to work in neither. The laptop just frezzes and change to a black screen during installation in Windows 8 and in Windows 7 i got the black screen after restart.

Do you think my 8970m is faulty? I never faced this problem before and i have formated a lot of computers. :(

I just send a mail to Mysn to ask for RMA but i dont expect them to answer before monday.

Sorr to hear your having problems.
Did you get the drivers disc included with the computer as they have to be loaded in a specific order or they can conflict.
Cant post pics of order as not on computeruntil tomorrow night.

    Just tried, same result.

Another thing I observed is that during startup at POST screen (XMG logo) the screen goes black for less than a second and come back. I dont know if it's normal but it looks suspicious.

Got my a503 today and installed win 8.1, everything working fine except 2 things:
-keyboard seems to be skipping key presses every now and then, although I might be pressing too lightly.
-gpu (I think) fan keeps cycling when idling ( gpu-z shot). Basically it keeps switching between integrated and dedicated (even in UMA mode) as I can see through the leds on the laptop. Is this a bios upgrade thing or normal?

    Any thoughts?

congrats but sorry to hear youve got a couple of problems.
if the keys are the same as on my P series it did take a few days to get used to as mine kept skipping letters but then out of the blue worked fine. could well be just getting used to a different style keyboard.

that gpu-z pic is a first for me. ive never seen it like that before.
im no expert but it could be something has worked lose in transit.
even though your igpu/dgpu light is flikering optimus shouldnt normally kick in until something demanding is loaded.
if possible could you load a game or a heavy duty program and run it for a few minutes and then get a screen shot to see if there are still gaps in the sensor readings in gpu-z.

you can also find lots more free monitoring tools in my sig below that might come in handy.
my main ones i use are core temps/hwinfo64/nvidia inspector/hw monitor.

i would defo start a ticket in support as they will have a much better idea mySN UK Ltd - Powered by Kayako Fusion Help Desk Software

    hope it gets sorted soon.

It seems to be working fine when I need load, and I actually can't really hear the fan at all at 60-70% usage of the gtx. I did have to force it to use the gtx though on a game because it kept using the integrated
(which still gave 40fps so maybe the laptop didn't see the need for dedicated).
Made a ticket at mysn, cheers

    Hi Exci

Sorry that you are having problems with your new XMG A503. As you placed your order on the German website but contacted the UK support office, they have forwarded your email to the German support office ( mysn.de support is managed by [email protected] ) and also noted that you have installed Windows 8.1 after delivery. Support should get back to you asap!

My bad as well. I once contacted mysn.de and got a reply from .eu, so I thought internally all 3 was the same.

Update: I formated to windows 7 (besides some compatibility issues with programs, I just didn't really like win 8 :)) and had similar issues. However I uhm.. think it might be gpu-z itself that was causing the issue, might be it was polling the gtx to monitor it and in result was activating it, so since I always had it on..Most likely a false alarm after all.
Anyways, I will have a look the following days and will let support know if that was the case.

Also I'm not skipping keys any more so I have that going for me :)

    Hey again,
the gpu problem is solved as described above.
I currently have another issue: when spending a certain time (anything more than a few minutes) at load, reaching about 70°C (was 84°C before I got my laptop base so yay), and going back to idle, the fans (not sure which) stay at full speed even though I'll be back at 40°C, and I have to shut down the laptop and turn it back on to get them back to being silent. Any clues?

    hi again.

70c is fine and 84c would still be ok but it depends what it was doing. using heavy duty programs and games can ramp the temps up high. as long as it doesnt hit 90c and above your fine on that.

the fan issue is a known hiccup for the last 3-4 years and has been reported to clevo. it strangely doesnt affect everyone but this also happens on my P150EM.

all i do is i have nvidia inspector software on my desktop in a folder. after gaming the fans will continue on full speed and if i leave them they will continue for hours. i done a test to see if they would finally slow down on their own but they dont.
all i have to do is open nvidia inspector and within 2 seconds of the software being open the fans drop back down to normal speed or even silent.
    hope that helps.

Nvidia inspector didn't affect the fan speed unfortunately.
I'm using the default nvidia drivers from the laptop CD's by the way, maybe I should grab the latest..

Isn't there any tool to control fan speed for this specific case?
Used to use rivatuner on my desktop but I can't seem to make it work for the laptop.

The stock BIOS on the P1xxSM systems has a 'BUG' that keeps the dGPU FAN spinning at it's previous rate even after it goes to sleep.
With my BIOS Mod we can make the system properly shut-down the FAN after use by:

Setting the option under "Advanced" > "Switchable Graphics" > "PX 5.0 Mode" to "BACO"

Not only that, even if u don't use the didicated GPU, the GPU Fan spins up to 100%, after the processor reached a temperature threshold of 80°C. I have noticed that phenomenom while playing BF3 on the integrated HD4600.

If your 8970M is overheating then there will be a more pernament fix which we can apply; but you shouldn't need to underclock the GPU under any circumstances in order to keep the system stable, 80C is not a critical temperature.

    No problem Prema;-)

We encourage our customers to send this type of feedback directly to us, as we can make changes in official BIOS/EC releases. Please can you forward this directly to our support department and we can then run simulations with same spec hardware to replicate the problem for you.

Please also be aware that, depending on the laptop model, we supply modified fan control in the EC which are specific to XMG. As such, if another BIOS / EC is installed you may loose the benefits of our fan contol modifications - so if we can integrate customer feedback into the firmware that we supply you can have the best of both worlds :)

    Hi,

I've bought my W503 model from mysn.eu 2 weeks ago. One week ago i noticed it has a permanently blue pixel. I've already contacted mysn.eu and they are saying i should send it back and their technicians will look into it.
I'm in doubt if this'll be usefull though, as I don't expect them to replace the screen for one faulty pixel and I kinda need the laptop for some important projects... Does anyone have experience with this kind of issue, or could someone confirm it's actually usefull to send it back? Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask something like this.

it looks like the M503 could be end of life and been superseded by the new M504 and will be available from the 24th March on the german site so expect the uk site to be updated anytime soon.

That's correct LoopNJb / MrDJ, the M503 has in essence been refreshed to become the M504 with 850M graphics. Not all of our websites are always updated at exactly the same time - for example we may have stock of some chassis with certain language keyboards but not others for example.

But the M504 will be online in the comming days ready for pre-order on the .co.uk website, we expect to start shipping in 1-2 weeks :)

clean out time with compressed air.
mine hits mid 90c at peak with all the monitoring software so i thought id run xtu in the background for a change and most of the time it was mid 70c for cpu.

titanfall is 65-70 cpu and gpu 72c so im sure happy with that.

so geko, you feeling like you got an old machine now all the new tech is out, same here.

    Hi

The P724 doesn't have a backlit touchpad or the soundbar. The backlit touchpad is available on other models but the soundbar is only found on the P704 (and the model it replaced, the P703). On all systems with backlit touchpad and/or soundbar, each can be turned on or off independently :)

Hello everyone, long-time stealth user here, posting for the first time. Considering few upcoming TBSes that I've been waiting for a long time (namely - Age of Wonders III and Warlock 2) it's definitely time to upgrade my now six-years old XPS M1530 to something more modern. Currently I am on the edge between Clevo W320SS and MSI GS60 - Clevo is cheaper and more configureable but MSI has the edge with aluminium body and better speakers (although 860m on it, being Kepler might be less overclockable and run hotter).

Why am I posting in this thread then? I just wanted to ask if mysn.de is willing to give any potential discounts to help me make up my mind on that choice?

We're not so keen on giving discounts on brand-new products. But if you contact our sales team directly, there might be other ways for us to help you make up your mind... :)
