After reading this post I contacted a local Clevo retailer. They were cool with me posting the response they got back from their supplier after my query. Check this out:

"Some information has leaked from NVIDIA. The release date for November is unofficial and hasn’t been verified by Nvidia. There is a good chance this leaked information is correct - but regardless of whiether it is correct, it is *unofficial* and has not been released by Nvidia. Alienware had the cards available on their site for a shortwhile but have since taken it off, maybe an indication that they are unsure themselves.

Until we get an official press release or verified release date from our manufacturers (ie Clevo and NVIDIA), there isnt much we can say. Its speculation at this stage, no matter how correct this forum information may end up being."

Thank you for that information.

Now you can tell this unsure Clevo retailer that I don't care about them and they can go to HELL.

I think the look of the laptops is what made AW so popular. I'd love a good skull on my back lid :D

It's all in the marketing. Successful companies spend a lot of money on marketing. Alienware is very, very good at that.

Theres going to be a 256 mb and 512 version. Guessing must be a ddr2/gddr3 deal.

That notebook is just a branded form of the Clevo M570RU/Sager NP5791, so it means that Clevo must be offering the 8800GTX in the M570RU.

The clocks look too high for there to be a DDR2 version, and I bet their dealing with so much heat as it is, a DDR2 would just be insane.

No ddr2 versions are not necessarily hotter than the gddr3 counterparts at stock speeds it just that gddr3 are more efficient and thus can clock higher while maintaining relatively lower gpu temps.

I got the info from a chinese website talking about the new alienwares. If the info is correct (they mention 256/512, no mention of ddr2 or gddr3 though) then its another thing milestone was right about in the 8800 info for the c90.

Though I mean if there are 2 versions it would make sense that would be the difference right? Isn't that the general trend in the difference in the ram sizes?

Also they mention that the gpu does have 112 stream processors.

At equal speeds, DDR2 RAM is hotter than GDDR3 RAM.
Not really, most often it's merely a marketing difference. DDR2 versions are made only for the lower cost. I would expect the 256mb and 512mb versions to be identical in every other respect.

Did some quick data gathering on nVidia cards...

I don't know squat about 'stream processors'...I never really knew
anything about vertex and pixel shaders other than more was better...

Based on the table below, is it safe to say that a single 8800m GTX
will outperform a single 7950 Go GTX and SLI 8800m GTX will outperform SLI
    7950 Go GTX?

If that's true, this becomes a budget question for DX 9 vs DX 10
    instead of a capability question...

Note: All the data was pulled from nVidia's page with the exception of
the 8800m GTX which was in Chaz's original post and I just guessed at the memory bandwidth and texture fill for the 8800m based on its similarity to other cards (if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck...)...

I think it's very smart of AW to leak this info "by accident". It only helps to build up more hype and exposure for them. I really can't wait to see what happens on the 19th.

Yes I highly doubt that Alienware mistakenly put this info out in the open, leaking info is a great marketing tool and a great way to hype up the launch.
Those are some great pictures, I like the backlit keyboard' especially! Can't wait to see the whole machine.

    Just some questions:
    - Do u think the Turbo memory is usefull, or just totally useless???
    - Better a 2x8800GTX with a T7700, or 1x8800GTX with a x7900??
    - Does somebody know what it will cost in Europe (much more i guess :s)

    - AW sells it for 40$ , other companies for 30-35$. Chaz said he saw a slight improvement, also other people using the same apps saw a SMALL increase in loading speeds. But that's about it.
    - 2x8800GTX witha T7700 should be more than enough to run everythig on max details and a decent resolution with NO lag.
    - In europe it will cost more, be sure of that. I'd say 10-20% more.

Nope, the killernotebook is a lot more than simply rebranded. There's mods done internally. Techware labs did a article on their modded M570RU.

Not at 1920x1200 max details in modern games. In older games, certainly, but that's the case even for SLI 7950GTX or SLI 8700MGT (albeit to a lower extent). In newer games I bet the shader clock is the bottleneck.

yes don't worry you will be able to upgrade if your laptop has an mxm3 or 4 slot. unless clevo or alienware somehow screws us by not releasing a compatible bios update for the cards there should be no problems.

It wont outperform the 7950GTX, it will annihilate it. One 8800 will more than likley outperform the 7950's in SLI as well.

For the love of God people...
THe 3dmark06 score will be a 9k single, 12 k SLI, since we are talking about a laptop.Maybe with a desktop processor and 4 gb 800 Mhz RAM it might even be a staggering 15k.However,they are all personal wishes :D

I can't wait till see if they will come out on the 19th if they do and XOTIC PC has them for the Sager NP9261 then I am going to order two of them and install on my Sager 9261 ;). Do you think we need a bigger power supply for the Sager NP9261 if we update the video card?

9k single and 12k SLI? In 3DMark06 the 8700 gets roughly 4k single and 8k SLI. So SLI should give 18k if its 9,000 per card.

Eitherway, when the 8800M arrives the 7950GTX and 8700 will look like Voodoo 2's. With 32 stream processors the 8700m already pushs 3x the shading power of the 7950. The 8800M has 96 (or maybe even 112). So all that shading performance, plus more bandwidth than the 7950 = joy. :D

Being able to order and having a delivery date this year are two different things. Sager resellers aren't even giving a estimate for this year, they have said nothing except they will have it some time in January or February next year. Theres also a lot of rumors that Nvidia gave dell/alienware exclusive selling rights for a few months. So all rumors aside all one can say is....wait till tomorrow :p
