Um, No...... I think I made it quite clear in the lead post (#1, HERE) that this thread is for the MSI 'GT70-0NE series', and it is rather obvious, for the owners and support thereof. If you read the links in my previous post, the differences of barebones and branded units is covered. Also, therein you will find a link for MSI Whitebooks. To my knowledge, MSI has never officially designated a barebones model as a GT70. I am sorry if this bothers you, but appropriate threads are available for barebones owners.

:hi2: HEY! You already have, and this 'club' is for ALL owners! :D

WELCOME to the party jaws5858, and I hope you are enjoying your new GT70-0NE!

    ENJOY!

    :)

Dont bother me one bit at the end of the day it's all the same thing under the plastic so what does it matter. I could buy plenty of msi gt70 laptops but I didn't because I wanted to make it to the higher specs I wanted.

So long as you are happy..... I guess that is what really matters. Again, there are differences (discussed in the links provided earlier), which obviously do matter to some. Also, if you review any of the authorized MSI reseller sites, the GT70-0NE can be customized well beyond your specs. Just say'in..... :)

About the issue i was having with my 680M working all the time no matter what was running. It kinda sorted it self out after i installed 314.22 driver from nVidia.
Now i can actually change the setting for each program in nVidia Control Panel, a thing that was not possible before.

I download the driver from nVidia, and if you like beta you can get them from nvidia or 3dguru

a side note I have bought one but I underestimate the size/weight so it's sitting on my home desk

I have the 452 and the cooling seems very good. Whenever I play games I am just sure to press the max cooling button. The fan makes noise but it's easy to tune out. I don't have any temps on hand for you but the air coming out of the vent is not that hot unless you turn off the full throttle fan. Played Saints Row III on all max settings for about 4 hours which has been my longest "session" and no sign of problems.

Does anyone know if the 15mm thick drives will fit into the drive bay in the GT70-0NE 452US? I was looking at the 2TB WD Green... 1TB not cutting it lol

15mm is too thick. The secondary HDD bay is deeper than the primary so maybe can fit a 12.7mm drive.

Just read through some more articles from google about the TRIM function is not work in most SSD RAID system run by external RAID controller, is it the same in MSI GT60/GT70 superRAID controller as well??

Does this harmful to the lifespan and performance of the SSDs without TRIM, or some more magic will done behind??

Gpu no as the 680m is the most powerful you can get but the cpu can be.

Most probably not as msi will have new model laptops when the new nvidia series come out and it will most probably be different connections etc. You may be able to put future processors into it as long as they are the same pin and the board will support it. But the way technology moves on now it will probably all be different.

Other way round, the new CPUs will be a different socket while the GPUs are likely to be MXM. The only issue is if the heatsinks will match the new cards, but if MSI keep the same shell then you should be able to pick one up for the new models and use it yourself.

No it's not optimus, it's the cards and drivers of any nvidia card detecting furmark.

Gaming temps are fine and with a repaste you can improve them if you want.

I personally do not use copper ram sinks in my overclocked (43% 720->1033mhz core 24/7) system and from that you can draw your own conclusions about them.

As Meaker said, furmark causes the gpu to downclock itself. At any rate, gaming temps and furmark temps are waaaaay different. I forced furmark to run at full speed and caused the GPU to reach 93 degrees celsius, at which point it downclock as a safety measure.

While gaming, it rarely goes over 80 degrees celsius, at 100% utilization. Even when overclocked, I only saw temps of up to 82 in games like crysis 2.

In my case, I game with very mild overclock. But I got as far as 900 core, 2400 memory. With Kepler, Shader and core clock are tied, which is why they use a much higher amount of cuda processors.

Has any one had success with either Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect :pC with the GT70 (0NE-609US here)? I've tried updating my BIOS, and updating to the latest version available of Realtek's ALC892 drivers from MSI but to no avail. Here I am sitting with a toslink cable, a 5.1 Receiver, and I can only output 2.0 PCM with this laptop in real-time (the exception being passing through S/P-DIF when watching movies). It would be awesome to play my games in 5.1 without resorting to either 3 jack plugs or buying a separate USB sound card...

    Anyone got any tips?

I have tried this on multiple desktops to my two different receivers at home, never really worked, to the point that im still sending 3x stereo rca analog to my emotiva amp, but would be very interested into knowing if it works for anyone else, as most of the entry/mid end receivers no longer have passive ins.... so this will bind me to amps for the rest of eternity.

Ironically enough, I've always had success with previous laptops including two ASUS models (both in my signature) and 1 no-name brand model. All of them use Realtek chipsets for audio. All of them have support Dolby Digital Live output and done so wonderfully. This is the first device I've owned which has a toslink output and no support for Dolby Digital Live (or DTS Connect PC for that matter) that I can seem to find and enable.

I have no idea. If it comes available at launch I might buy it. Pretty cool look. :)

I think mobile 8-series chipset will have 4 * SATA3 ports in total. 3 available for mSATA, and 1 for the optical drive. But then again, that leaves no room for a normal HDD.
Maybe we will see 6 SATA3 ports on mobile too?

You got two problems I presume?

    1. GT70 comes with Dynaudio, so I don't personally think Dolby is supported at all. Probably need an external soundcard for this.
    2. For 5.1 or 7.1 sound, of the four jacks on ur laptop, plug into the third one and the option should appear. Saw somewhere this guy was demonstrating it with his GT70 (not dragon) and his Astro A40 mixamp.

I've had my GT70 since they launched (May, I think?) and have had some problems with it, but I'm out in Iraq and we don't usually have internet access, so I haven't really been able to look up a solution. The first problem is sound. My sound is weak, barely audible at times. WMP lets me boost it to 200%, and then it's nice and loud, so the speakers CAN be loud but I don't know how to turn my settings up. All the basic interfaces (Sound Mixer, and the Sound controls in my Control Panel) are turned up to 100%. My drivers are good. Is there a different driver I can use? or some way to boost the volume?

Also, my CD drive stopped working almost immediately after the laptop got here, but we can't ship large things like a laptop out of the country, so I can't get warranty work done. Is there a CD-Drive you would recommend?

I know my questions are basic and simple, but so am I, but I just don't have much time as I'm only able to ask this while transferring to a new site, which may or may not have internet. Thanks!

the Creative TruStudio Pro settings could affect speakers volume. try play with the settings or turn off surround will increase the speakers volume:

    Crystal.JPG Digital.JPG SmartVolume.JPG Sub.JPG Surround-off.JPG

For DVD drive any 12.7mm SATA will work just fine.
