I am about to do a clean install of windows 7, Hopefully this week. Is there anything I need to do to erase the Superraid SSD (secure erase, quick format, full format) before I install from a disc?

    Thanks

Mine doesn't seem to throttle but is it still worth me getting this do you think?

I ran the SeaGate tool as instructed and there seems to be no issues with SSD RAID array (test passed). I should've mentioned that I was doing RAR extracting on secondary hard drive (750gb SATA2 one) but time for extracting was still off.

I did run short generic test on secondary hard drive (it passed) but I did not have enough time to run long generic test on it (I plan to do it tonight).

Yes, when I was setting up Windows 7 I used Custom Installation to wipe all partitions and re-create them manually. I installed Windows 7 SP1 on SSD RAID array (I did not modify it). I plan to use SSDs in RAID for programs/applications while secondary hard drive will be used for miscellaneous storage (documents, downloads, etc).

I did not encounter this issue yesterday so now I'm beginning to wonder if it was a streak of bad luck. It would be nice if this issue could be re-produced but it seems random.

Thank you again for the help.

Yeah it wouldn't hurt to update to the beta EC.

It took too long to extract the RAR file so the 750GB drive could be the problem.

What are the steps to install the BETA EC 1762.T17 from DOS? I have Windows 8. After we install it, do we have to shut down computer, unplug power source, remove the battery? How do you turn it on after unplugging and removing battery (sorry for stupid question)?
I take it, after the BETA EC install, you put battery back in and plug the laptop back in then turn it back on
Thankyou for the help so far.

    Just FYI,

My laptop came with a defective keyboard, for some time we exchange emails and calls with Ken from Gentechpc, he guided me into testing multiple things, until we established it was the defective keyboard, in a buisness trip to LA, ken was very helpful into setting up the RMA so MSi will recieve me and exchange it, and while it wasnt perfect the first time, as the second keyboard was also defective (the letter "C" didnt always registered), the third keyboard is working well, btw they also changed the speakers as i felt one was defective, no question asked, they just swap them, really nice people i dealt in MSI LA HQ. No more issues for me... thanks Ken for all the help, so for me is GentechPC from now on, hope MSI continues to release laptops like this, even though they are expensive as hell.... they are imo really worth it.

One quick question... are we able to swap out CPUs? I have a 3630Qm, looking to maybe swap out for a 37xx or 38xx if it can be done.

So, what would be the procedure for swapping out the CPUs? Can I swap out without having to modify my existing bios etc...?
    I have the GT70 610 Dragon Edition.

To be honest you already have plenty of power but if you want more then a 38 will be enough. 39 your talking lots of money and not gaining very much.

Maybe he refers to OCing, sometimes the Extreme series have voltage oc, like on desktops, but really depends on the manufacturer and their bios if its supported....

Well, I will stick with the 38xx series then. Spending 400 dollars more for so little gain with the 39xx is not really worth it

Really not worth it in my opinion. See if you can get an extreme processor and overclock it if you really want power but all it will be good for is benchmarks.

A 55W CPU + 680M takes you over the factory safe limits of peak draw from the 180W PSU.

Hey guys, I was wondering if the sound card installed supports two sound outputs. Like if I wanted sound to come through both my headphones and external speakers (for when friends are around and I'm making music). If there is support, how do I do this? Or will I have to just buy an audio splitter?

Edit: I meant two separate outputs, each independent from each other.

It has 3 outputs and one Mic input. You should be able to configure it but if not then plenty of mixing software will do it.

You can buy the card on eBay but they are very expensive. The cheapest you can get the laptop is about £900 and thats for the barebone version.

The SKU is MB736316G75DB8M but i wasn't able to find anything online.

The stock software supports this. You can play one sound on the external speakers while playing another sound on the headphones. I believe when you first plug the headphones in a prompt should appear. One of the tabs on that prompt will give you advanced options to change the output of the speakers. When I get home tonight I'll look and see if I can find a more detailed description of where it is.

    Throttling issues, cause unknown.
So help me out, I been having an issue with my brand new GT70 with a gtx 680m. I havent done any overclocks on it, all still stock but with the newest beta drivers 313.96
This issue occurs whether I turn on the turbo feature button or not.

I tried out my system with Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 so far and the circumstances occur in both cases. For example, in GW2, when staring at a scenery and not moving, I maintain a fairly constant 70 fps, but every 30 seconds to sometimes 5 minutes, it drops down to 20-30 fps for a few seconds. I believe the GPU is throttling and when running GPU-Z in the background, it goes from 99% gpu load to 50%, consistent with the fps drop. With the fan speed at max, I sometimes go up to 80 degrees but this problem occurs even when I'm sitting around 74 degrees.

Is anyone else encountering this issue or is there a way to set it so that it will not throttle at all? I have been keeping a close eye on temperature and it never reaches dangerous levels.

You can see if you are running into that issue, run msi afterburner and see if your frequency bounces between the OC and stock frequencies.

Okay so I'm still a tech beginner, but with the issue I described in the page back, am I supposed to update the vbios from NVIDIA Kepler VBIOS mods - Overclocking Editions, modified clocks, voltage tweaks
or the EC from here BETA EC for GT60 (16F3) & GT70 (1762)

Not sure which method I'm supposed to use because it seems both sort of seems to help with the random gpu throttling I get. Am I supposed to do one? both? in any particular order?

If there's any guide you can recommend I follow to actually implement these ways of fixing it, I would really appreciate the help. I'm unsure what to do at the moment.

    @arkias

One of the regulars here will tell you the specifics you need - but I would recommend updating with both of those. They each improve performance and address issues the stock wares had.

here is i guide, there should be a guide in them threads somewhere: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/2166-[guide]-nvidia-vbios-flashing.html

Like gonzorito said its better to update both your bios and vbios as it will give you a much more stable system, more options to change things and better performance.
