Can you run 3dmark firestrike and post here link to your results?

    Thats an answer!
Can you test your laptop without it?

So you would rather play with the fan blowing 90C air onto your mouse hand then? The left side is the logical choice if they want to put it on a side.

I think you are measuring the temps of this laptop wrongly.

Guys, I need your help to decide.
I'm planning to buy ge60 apache or apache pro.

Apache with i7 and gtx 850m or Apache Pro with i5 and gtx860m.

    Which one will be better?
apache pro with i7 is too expensive

is i5 much weaker than i7? and is gtx 860m worth it having weaker processor?

laptop is needed also for the future, so which bundle will be better for the future - i7+gtx850m or i5+gtx860m?

    Please answer asap

I guess the Apache Pro has the i7. And it is clearly more powerful, specially if you are expecting to maintain it for a long time. Besides, Apache Pro has a better screen.

So, i suggest you to go for the Apache pro. It worth's it.

Or i would rather have them blow behind the laptop and still put cpu/gpu to the right.

Apache pro with i7 is too expensive

So its Apache pro with i5 +gtx 860m
    OR
    Apache with i7 +gtx 850m

It is said that the gtx 850m is an underclocked 860m... But I really don't know if this is totally true.

If so.. I'd buy the 850 and i7 version.

And here you have my results with a full 3dmark test, about 15 min. 24º in my room.

Check yourself if I'm measuring wrongly my temps. Both tests have been done with the notepal u3.

And after that heavy 3dmark bench here you have a 3dmark11 run, like Genntech's video.

yes because i can move away a hand little bit or adjust blown air upward with a little piece of cardboard (i know i have gx640 with fan on the right) but you can´t move keyboard
best solutions in upward but msi has not so educated people yet :)

but there is one hint.. a man can buy external numpad for 15€ (put it in usb and place long before exhaust) and play on this

i have pro with i5, dont see any diferences on benchmark (crysis 3 and bf4 played on max with 20 - 30 fps)

pro - samsung screen is best i ever seen, not pro one have some cheep chi mei screen , screen is strongest adut for me to buy pro, i tested gs60pro with same screen (leave it back because numpad was shrinkd and price was almost dubbled, i found apache i5 pro in germany for 900€ without os, gs was 1600)

I've been asking people on the forums and they say, i7 will be better for the future. so I really dont know

Could you please test Watch Dogs on your pro

Do you feel somehow lack of power from the processor during work or so? I guess no, but maybe

Also point is, more games in the future will need 4 cores. Is it that critical?

google, i saw somewhere somebody tasted i5 vs i7 in games, no difference, maybe sometimes 1 frame up or down... in office tasks, web, youtube, i5 is quick (especially with ssd) so you can't see difference
I don´t have watch dogs so I can´t test it
future safe? I think a laptop changes nowadays each 3 years and it should be hold a 3 years with i5 and gtx 860

    '

no, it is gpu which produce mass of heat in games, on idle or simple tasks laptop is cool so no differences
if you open back lid and lift a back of laptop by 15 cm temp is reduced by 10 degrees (93 to 83) on gaming

Still i think i5 doing less heat. Thinking logically: i5 and i7 have the same cores but i7 have twice of it. if it's full loaded i think 4 cores will do more heat then 2.

Yo're doing something wrong with stress testing. It's really impossible!

XTU is a very stressful benchmark. The dual cores have the same power density meaning that temperatures can be similar even if power draw is different.

BTW it needs to be tested, and one more interesting factor is maximum undervoltage.

And, guys, maybe anyone know how to undervoltage GPU? Or maybe CPU from bios, not from XTU?

It's already been tested by HTwingnut on another platform.

Voltage options could only come from an unlocked system bios.

I check just 3dmark because I need laptop for gaming and because heatsink of gpu and cpu are connected to same fan, heat can go in both direection I mean gpu can do cpu warmer and diverse. It depend on what test you run and what part is cooler/warmer

Less cores does not really mean less heat ... especially when we are talking about i5-4200M and i7-4700MQ
Both CPUs have same TDP(47W) what means there is not huge difference in temperatures, max deflection should be 5°C not more.

No, 4200m is 37W, 4700 is 47W, the one that is 47W too is the 4200h.

Also there is the review of that clevo with the 4310m (which is also 37W) on notebookcheck and the temperatures are quite better than the other two reviews with i7 laptops

I have tested a few laptops last two months. Alla of them - I5,I7, gt750m, gtx870, gtx860, gtx850 are quite an cool on idle, simple tasks - web, hd video, you can even stop a fan on all and get 48 - 58 degrees....
all of them was really warm bettwen 82-93 when playing games, some more some less, some noisy to, so a few degrees upp or down shouldn´t define which one... look at screen, keybord and other important things for you, it vill be toasty on games anyway

But my GE60pro is overheating and downclocking when iam gaming. My 860M works at 850mhz when iam playing MetroLL. So i payed for one perfomance level, but iam getting totally different. MSI is cheating on me.

    Hello to all,

I'm new to the forum but now I present to you my problem:

while I play any games when the battery is connected games go perfectly, when the battery is disconnected shows a drop of frames that rises and falls. I checked with msi after burner and under my video card (Ggtx860m) goes to 35% and after 95% and then again 35%. This problem causes loss frame. you know why only with the battery connected this problem does not happen?

thanks in advance to all and I apologize to my English

Hits 93 on GPU and then starts to downclocking. CPU hits 93-95 and turboboost turns off, this is with -90mv in XTU. I need to reduce turboboost multipliers to get 90c in WoT or MetroLL.
And i bought NotePal U2+, but it doesnt help at all.

Nvidia inspector doesnt tweak voltages for GE60, and i dont know how to enable voltage tweaks.

As you see, my situation is very bad.

It's all when AC adpter is connected?
Also you dont have to unplug your battery when you're using your laptop. Battery works like UPS.
