In a way it's good that they're not committing to an ETA that they have no control over and can't guarantee (*cough*PCMW). At the same time, I'd really like some concrete info.
One of their sale's reps just told me the same thing that Justin said a few posts ago, that they'll email us with a status update at some point in the week.

Yes... I ordered from Xotic and hope to hear something sooner than later. If it takes much longer I may have to cancel
One of the reasons I pulled the trigger on this notebook was that I needed to have something by the 6th of Sep. I thought this would get to me in time with no problems. So sad, but maybe there is still hope. -
i guess ill end up buying the NP2096
i don't mind and its cheaper
-
If anyone finds out the updated ETA, please post here.
-
Maybe end of August, they can't delay that too long otherwise they will lose another initiative.

What I am hearing from many students is that they don’t really need their laptops the day school starts, and would rather wait a while to get what they really want rather than settle for 2nd best just so they can have it right away.
Keep in mind that even if we ship it to your college address you will have what you want… for several years…and you will soon forget the frustration of being without it for a week or so when you start your semester. -
I know, but I'm still getting frustrated as hell!
-
thats a copy paste you just did there paladin
but you don't know my schooli already have plenty of work right now
-
im glad i opted for the toshiba qosmio f55 and canceled my msi order, i definentlly needed my lappy from day 1 of college and i haven't looked back since. the added portability would have been nice though from the msi

I'm sure our sellers are doing what they can to get information, but a little why and when would be great. -
It's pretty much available, but the dam shipment must be held by the US custom. LOL.

Xotic said they would update us on its status this week. The week is now half over.

We can't update until we get some reliable information from MSI...our hands are tied until then.
They originally told us 3rd week of August.
We are meeting with their highest level management tomorrow (they are in country at this time) and will have an update, hopefully, but the end of business tomorrow. -

Thanks, we look forward to it. It often seems weird that PNB and Xotic are actually separate businesses since your service and options are almost identical.

New pictures are up on our website. Just select the PowerPro P 15:3 and click on the Blue Button that says Picture Gallery (I would post them here, or link to the Picture Gallery, but new Reseller rules at NBR prevent us from doing that...if someone else wants to do it they can)
Oh, and PNB and Xoticpc are indeed totally different and separate companies, but it isn't that unusual for two companies that really work hard to provide their customers with the best product and the best in customer service would do it in a very similar way. -
Though I ordered from Xotic, save some for them please. -
While it may be frustrating to not have the laptop for the first couple days of class, you can use a friends or use the schools computers until yours comes in. Unless you are in a class in which you are writing research papers on the first day or week, I do not see the fuss. I wish that they would ship out now, but I can stand the wait for now.
Awaiting information tomorrow. -
G! -
i got a notice that mine just shipped
-

PNB and Xotic seems to be a case of convergent evolution. -
hmm... I hope the delay isn't too bad.
Otherwise, I might have to cancel my order
Edit: Is it me, or is there only 2(?!) USB (look on MSI website) -

It's 3 USB ports, the e-SATA one is a combo USB/e-SATA port.
EDIT:
Okay, my apology.
I enlarged both 1651/1722 images of e-SATA ports, I don't think the 1651 has a combo port.
So it only comes with 2 USB ports. -

Thanks, made the correction.

masterbw must be working for the ASUS.
masterbw must be working for the Compal.

The ETA we were told was 09/08 for the WXGA..........

I want to see a retailer flame-fest. You guys are way too civilized. There should be a thread devoted solely to retailers flaming each other.
-
-
oh man this sucks... Now I won't have a computer to play spore on! Had I realized it would have taken this long, I would have just ordered the NP 2096 back when I had the chance...
-
-
Well if the custom 1651 models are late that means that the stock gx620 from MSI are extra especially double secret probation late. Hella lamez...
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
-
Okay good, that makes more sense because a laptop cannot have just 2 USB ports nowadays, and even Compal has 4 USB ports.
-
mine arrives 2morrow!
-
please post your impressions!!!
-
v1k1ng1001~ congrats. So what did you do with your Compal man?
-
God this is torture...
Anyway, the reseller's hands are tied, so we can only hope MSI folks get on top of their stuff soon.
In the meantime, I am anticipating, with terror, an arrival date around the 20th of September. This stretches my time limits very badly, as I am counting with the notebook to do a ton of work.
Have you guys been considering replacement options (in stock) at Xotic, PN or others at under $1.8k (shipping +taxes included)? Or other brands?
What I love about the 1651 is the top-of-of-the-line-ish (ie, not bad) GPU, build quality, 15.4" WSXGA+, synaptics touchpad, ports, stereo speakers, 3yrs of warranty and its overall aesthetics.
Although the JHL90 offers a lot for a low price, I don't like it that much (read above paragraph)
Anyway, I can't seem to find anything similar. Anybody out there feeling my pain?
Cheers!
W.

1651 is the way to go. GDDR2 & GDDR3 has a huge gap in performance so no one would want the Compal. If you pay more up you can get ASUS one but it's a factory-built.

Hey masterbw, you guys just have some pretty crazy laptop options in Taipei since all the laptops seem to be made there...
-
Crazy laptops, yes. However, all laptops are pretty much designed in Taiwan and made in china now.
