Update on status:
THE COMMERCIAL INVOICE IS MISSING AND IS REQUIRED FOR EXPORT / FORWARDED TO THE FACILITY IN THE DESTINATION CITY
Huh? didn't understand thatWhats going on?

Someone care to explain? Thanks![]()

I don't think UPS will deal with anything after hours, hence it being "after hours". If it's any consolation, though Xotic shipped mine, UPS doesn't actually realize they have possession of it according to the tracking, and haven't realized it for several days. I may be worse off than you guys
-

Yeah mine is the same. By destination city do they mean the final destination city? Like the distribution centre in Ottawa? Cause at this point I'm willing to break in there to get it. -
I highly HIGHLY doubt that
. Maybe they're saying the invoice is forwarded? (no clue why or how it connects to the first part >_>).
My question is: what is being forwarded and where is it being forwarded to and why is it being forwarded?
Just to make sure, no your laptop was NOT forwarded. Still in

Be patient guys and you should see it update and proceed on into transit as expected.
wisedude - I will pm you. -
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
It's now listed as "In Transit" and the exception has been cleared.
Thanks Justin. -
It's moving now
. A million thanks to you to go the extra mile beyond your standard business hours to help us with the shipping issues.
Few companies I know would go the extra step like that to satisfy their customers
Special props to Xotic PC. +1 Rep, even though your at max

Mine is in Minneapolis right now too. Looks like they're traveling together for this bit of the journey. -
Hehe... I think they're going to have to say goodbye at Minneapolis though
, as yours is going to Ottawa and mines going to Vancouver
Probably being sent by air from Saint Paul's Airport (Eagan doesn't have an airport). lol I'm actually googling this stuff up
..
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
I wonder which one of us will get it first
. Ottawa is technically slightly closer to Minneapolis...
-
Rawr.. you never know
Distance when on air doesn't matter as much as availability of flights
. But technically, you still have a higher chance because if ours ships together and has the same processing speed from there, you'd be about an hour ahead
I'm willing to bet your going to get it first (something inside me is telling me so...... :s)
EDIT: Mines just gotten a departure scan!!
lol

BTW, I just want to say that I'm not blaming XoticPC for those shipping problems I complained about earlier. I'm mainly looking at UPS for being a piece of crap. Xotic did a good job communicating with me, and I appreciate that Justin is here answering questions
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
You had 3-6 day shipping right? When did yours officially ship (ie go into Phase 4)? -
K, now mines really gotten the departure scan
Hope it's a plane straight to Vancouver (is that possible?)
Is it possible your package was lost somewhere? -
It shipped Friday. I called Xotic and they said that's the day UPS received it. UPS doesn't realize that though..
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
Hmm. Technically they have 3 more days, but yeah I'd be worried too. I don't know whats up with that.
Mine got the departure scan too
. My time is 9:48PM for that. I doubt they'll be flown directly to our cities. If that were the case, I think we'd have them tomorrow.
-
Mines shipped @ the exact same time
. Maybe our lappies are still traveling together
(no idea why, since we're on opposite ends of Canada!).
I think mines MIGHT be headed towards Seattle,WA (I dunno, all my other UPS shipments head there before clearing customs into Canada). Customs do take a while the last time I checked (never used this fast a method of shipment, but last time my TI Nspire calculator from Ebay sat at the customs for nearly two months - USPS shipping that says 6-10 business days)
@ Wiseguy, I'd definitely be worried about that. If UPS fails to deliver it to you, I hope the package is properly insured (for both yours and Xotic's sake, depending on who would be held responsible if it wasn't insured to its full value). -
Yeah, not a good situation to be in >.<

I don't know where mine is going to cross the border, there are many large border crossings in southern Ontario. The largest is probably Detroit-Windsor. We ordered 1-3 day shipping from their special Canadian deal, hopefully they've worked out the border issues. UPS should definitely have a deal with CBSA given the amount of crap they ship cross-border. -
Does the WXGA (vanilla) model have an MSI logo for the barebones? I can't seem to find the answer to that... Meaning, does MSI supply a basic MSI logo for their barebones laptops? Otherwise having a cut-out for a logo looks kinda silly, IMO... But, I am kinda picky.
-
Cut out for logo I think. Your vendor may put their own logo there.
-
Hmm, that is kind of lame. I'd consider their barebones if they included an MSI logo should I choose to install it.
Your laptop is currently where I am at (Minneapolis, MN)...
-
Ahh! XD if you order it, its going to like instantship
Took mines 25 minutes from Origin scan to Departure scan to Arrival Scan in Mineapolis
-
I've never been on a forum where so many other folks echo my nail-biting waiting-for-the-mailman experiences!! So many entertaining stories of laptops forging friendships side by side on UPS trucks....
-
Way to go UPS! Gotta love their tracking systes... I guess they beamed it over here.
All I have to say is that the MSI 1651 design is beautiful. I wish more manufacturers went with the simple design, instead of all the gawdy type stuff. I hope that your laptop does not get stuck in customs. I know when my company ships to Canada, it can certainly take a week or so to clear customs and that is with a large company that operates in both nations. (DuPont). -
Thanks. My biggest worry is that something in the laptop turns out defective. I'm not really in the position to pay a hundred bucks to ship it back and live another week without a laptop. Buying from Xotic was really a leap of faith. Oh, and we beat the NP2096 in our lounge posting spree
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
Same. If it turns out defective I'm pretty much screwed.
-
Wheee.... Irrelevant post: laptop is staying in the air for a while. Seems like its going somewhere far
(perhaps Seattle)

Anyone else unable to get esata drives to work with the port? I have LaCie 500gb model and when I connect the esata cable to the drive and the esata port on the PowerPro 15:3 i get nothin, yet the usb connection works. Any suggestions?
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
I would imagine that port requires a fairly specialized driver. Are you sure you installed the correct one? People have posted links to the MSI website in this thread and the GX620 thread linking to the drivers section.
I don't know man, both of our laptops got scanned at the same time, but I doubt they're on the same flight. I'm not entirely sure they're moving at all right now. Its 1-3 days shipping, you can't expect constant motion.
Yeah...that's definitely us. -
I am rooting for you guys...its like a soap opera on this thread; there is so much drama. If it makes you feel any better, I have been waiting to get a laptop for 2 years
so you will get your lappy well before I do.

I'm guessing there's a story behind that?
So apparently my laptop is now in Louisville, KY. An exception has occurred, but all it says is "UPS INTERNAL ACTIVITY CODE ". I'm going to sleep, I'll deal with this tomorrow. -
Meh.. in the past, I had good experiences with UPS accuracy, and when an item was on the move (departure scan), and for a long period of time, it would usually travel a large distance. But hey, I've only done about 10 shipments with UPS, so I really don't know. Guess we'll find out tomorrow. Note that a good amount of time will be spent @ the customs/UPS doing your brokerage with the 1-3 day shipping.
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
OK, the exception just cleared (by itself) and it's gotten the arrival scan in Louisville. It's pretty much the same distance from Ottawa, but I'm sure they have a plan.
-
Says my computer is in richmond, Canada (close to where I live). and a more recent one says its in louisville?!
Two most recent updates:

09/17/2008 12:37 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
Theyre sending it away?!
This is messed up -_-. UPS screwed up big time with their tracking
Picture:
Anyone make sense out of this?
Why was it shipped to Vancouver Airport, then sent all the way down to the States in the south? In any case, it's impossible to send it down there in 2 hours -_-. Neither is it possible to get the package from Minneapolis to Richmond in 36 minutes -__-!
Well, I'm praying it is in richmond and not in the louisville further away from me than it started! -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
UPS states "local time" - is there a time difference between Louisville and Richmond?
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
They have to clear imports with the Canadian office they're shipping to before the departure scan. Mine just arrived in Mount Hope, ON. Wherever that is. -
They somehow scanned someone else's package and put it onto my tracking or I misunderstood it and it was just sending info to the guys @ Richmond to prepare for arrival. Btw my package went with Someguyoverthere's to Louisville, and from there, it gotten shipped to Seattle. Anyways, my package just arrived in Richmond today 40 minutes ago. Scheduled delivery is today
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
Mine is apparently in Ottawa right now.
I have to say, the 1-3 day shipping really made short work of the customs hassle. Mine is undergoing an "import scan". I'm guessing that's to make sure we're not importing a crate of absinthe. -
Can we get some info on what games and settings you guys an play? Can anyone for example, install like Morrowind Oblivion, Crysis, or Team Fortress 2 and see what you can crank out?
-
I've been playing COD4 on full settings (4xAA 1200x800) with no lag whatsoever. Based on that, I'm guessing you can play a decent Crysis on Medium/Medium-High settings and Oblivion and Team Fortress should be a breeze.
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
Is there a way to run those benchmarks without installing all those games? The only one of those I actually have is TF2. -
I don't think so, but I'm installing Oblivion and I'll have some results with that soon.
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
I'm surprised you're able to max out COD4. I thought it took a higher end graphics card to do that.
EDIT - Hey guys, UPS tried to drop it off just now, but noone was home. They'll try again tomorrow, but the result will probably be the same. Do they let you go an pick it up from wherever they have it stored? -
Yes, get the UPS number and call them and ask them to hold at their local distribution center. You can pick it up there tonight.
-
k, you win
. UPS is still at the importing stage for me (been at that since 6:52am)
You can drive to the depot and pick it up. Give them a call -
i have a 9700m gts and i cant max out cod4 with 4aa on 1440x900 so im guessing you are playing with some seriously low frames if ur 9600m gt is doing that
-
Is the rest of your system up to snuff?
Thanks for the info on the games, to be honest I'm not too talented at interpreting benchmark numbers. I don't do a heckuva lot of PC gaming, but Oblivion is pretty much the most graphically intensive thing I do on my PC (everything else is on the 360).
I just wanted to make sure my system could run that and then Warhammer Age of Reckoning. -
The 9700M GTS has about 55% more shader power than the 9600M GT, but some of that increase in performance is negated by running a higher resolution (20%~). If we factor in each persons viewpoint of playability, it even becomes more variable.
-
I'm running TF2 on high settings and the notebook runs cool--way better than the 8600m gt in my Compal IFL90 which overheated on higher settings.
