:0, I ordered the WXGA version because of my terrible eyesight (-700), so I'll likely get it first (1-3 business to Canada) :p
Time will more than likely permit for me to take a digital camera and take a few picture, and hopefully a short review of the notebook. I REALLY hope my lappy ships before the end of next weak

Praying and praying that there is no more delays on this rig -_-

preferably a message telling us that it's starting to be built...
    Can't stop hoping :D

My order just went into Phase 2. They say 3-7 business days. I really hope it's closer to 3 than 7.

Does that mean 3-7 days and then it will be shipped?

    And I'm still at phase 1 :(

We received the WSXGA+ chassis, FYI:

The WXGA is a silver/black plastic chassis

The WSXGA+ is a black brushed aluminum chassis

The WSXGA+ is a non glare type screen.

Sometime over the weekend I will try to post some benchmarks, and try to get some pictures of this chassis up.

Yes, that is very close, the only difference is the control area above the keyboard does not look like that.

Sorry, we can't do product announcements or post product pictures at NBR anymore due to the new reseller rules.

However you will be receiving an email about ship dates, and other new product details including pictures in the next couple of hours.

Once you receive it you are welcome to post them here yourself if you like

    >_< >_< >_< me want brushed aluminum!! :(
I prefer the plastic version's coloring, but I'd swap for brush alum any day! =S

The brushed aluminum looks alarmingly like the NP8660 o_O

No emails yet, and still stuck in phase 1

Chassis looks the same as the GX620 but does not have the red line around the center. The center line is silver, the touch sensor area above the keyboard is also different. These pics on the msi site will give you a good idea, we will have our pics up over the weekend.

    Hey SXUSTEVEN,

I saw this SSD on bensbargains.net:

    http://www.mwave.com/mwave/DeepSearch.hmx?scriteria=OCZSSD2&ALL=y&TP=11

Don't know if they are fast or big enough, but, they look pretty cheap.

I'm not going to post the full email, but basically it says:

"[W]e should be able to ship all uncolored preorders by Wednesday, September 10th!"

"[T]he PowerPro P 15:3 systems shipped with WSXGA+ screens will actually be completely black, save for a silver accent trim around the edges of the notebook chassis."

"The WSXGA+ screens are all matte finished!"

" f any of this news is actually bad news for you, please let me know..."

Below I've attached the pictures that I was sent.

I'm personally very fond of the brushed aluminum look over the black plastic and silver, and I'm incredibly anxious for Wednesday, assuming no more delays. It's been almost a month and a half since my pre-order, and I'm ready to see what it can do. As soon as I get it out of the box, I'll run some benchmarks and post some sort of review.

I noticed the OCZ SSDs pricing as well, though I haven't found one this cheap yet! Unfortunately, I'm not satisfied at all with OCZ's write performance, so I'm still waiting :(

That is the one that I've got pre-ordered. I have the impression that the WXGA is not brushed aluminum.

:3 it looks better than I expected. The silver trim really made it look 51600x better than it would without it (no more bland look!).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but seems the difference is that the palmrest/keyboard area is made of brushed aluminum, as well as the back of the screen. Of course, the coloring is different :p. The rest is still made of plastic.

Nope, the WXGA is not brushed aluminum.

I'm thinking that the rest of the chassis is exactly the same as the WXGA(not brushed aluminum) version.

That's the impression I'm getting as well. The chassis part surrounding the screen looks like it's made of plastic, as well as the sides of the notebook.

Looks like they took the WXGA and swapped the silver plastic palmrest with a black brushed alum palmrest, and the plastic back of the lid with an aluminum one.

If you look carefully at the back of the lid, even a little part of the notebook on the top still remains to be plastic.

You're right, it's not a whole lot different, but I like the brushed aluminum over the silver. I was going to buy it when it was all plastic so I'm happy with any improvement I can get.

You are exactly correct, the only areas that are brushed aluminum are the lid and the deck area around the keyboard.

Also has some other neat features, all the softkeys above the keyboard are touch sensors. Bluetooth/WLAN/Camera/Program 1/ECO Functions, also has audio keys: Stop/FF/REW/Play

    Oh boy,

I just noticed that MSI-1651 WSXGA+ screen is "MATTE"

Why Matte ... every other laptop with WSXGA+ screen comes in "GLOSSY"!

I guess there is no option for WSXGA+ Glossy!?!?

    G! :)

    YAHOO!

    Finally a high end 15.4" laptop with a WSXGA+ MATTE screen :)

Almost impossible to find, but preferred by most.

If anyone wants a glossy screen there are lots of other choices...

Matte will give you more accurate colors, although not as vibrant as a glossy in a dark environment.

Matte is much better in well lit or an outdoors environment.

Matte will not give you the reflection from lights, including ambient light, or give you that mirror type reflection of yourself in the screen. (Ever tried to watch TV during the day with the window shades open behind you?...that is what glossy screens tend to be like, but not Matte screens)

I just usually think glossy ones look shinier. Do the matte ones have those "obvious" tiny grids on the LCD? (Which is bad for my eyes) Or have they already "fixed" that?

All highest settings. I expected a protest of some sort; excess heat or a drop in frame rates but the 1651 handled everything with ease.

I just noticed on the bottom of the website "We live to serve Him, and you" I would imagine your company is Christian based? Just curious. I can't think of anything else it would mean except of corse 'Him' meaning the owner! :D
