There's definitely no fingerprint reader on this right? Xotic PC has had it listed as a component of this laptop for months
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
That is correct, there is no fingerprint reader.
Not to nitpick, but this model has only been available for pre-order for less than a month...are you sure you are remembering the right model on their website? -
Lol, by months I meant like a month and a week
You can see here though http://www.xoticpc.com/force-3551-built-msi1651-order-p-2462.html that it clearly says it has a fingerprint reader -
Of course.. theres the possibility it's hidden beneath a secret latch and no one knows about it except XoticPC!
-
lol, I'm not doubting Donald. I'm more wondering why xotic pc has left it up there for a month
-
XoticPC does seem to update slower than PNB -
That's what the 15:3 means?
-
I have a few questions for you in regards to the PowerPro P 15:3. Does the machine get very hot? I am currently using my trusty Acer with a Celeron M 1.73Ghz CPU + GMA950 and the machine is very cool the fan is barely noticable and is barely on. I know for a fact that this MSI-1651 based laptop has to run a heck of a lot hotter being that it will be paired with a dual core and dedicated GPU. So if you or anyone else know the following:
1) Is the 1280x800 version in stock generally?
2) Does the fan get loud and does it constantly turn on and off every few minutes?
3) Does the Laptop switch to Integrated Video when 3D Horsepower is not required?
4) Can this thing sit on your lap confortably, or are we talking a fire hazard?
5) Battery life? Will this thing last more than 75 minutes surfing the web?
The machine looks really nice in the pictures. -
I can answer some of your questions based on what I've read.
1. nothing is in stock, it's still a preorder. If they didn't get it friday they'll be getting them in the next few days
3. No, it doesn't switch to integrated graphics, ever
5. Yes, it will last more than 75 minutes surfing the web. should last at least 2 hours just surfing -

wisedude & sxusteven Thanks for pointing out this typo in our specifications page with the FP Reader. It has been updated and corrected.

May I ask for what reason did you up the pricing for WSGXA+?
Just when I started to consider it since it's matte, the price is now $99 from the previous $60 >_< -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
The reason for the new increase is originally we expected the first shipment of 1651-WSXGA+ models to be in a plastic black/silver trim. Instead they came in the better looking Black Brushed Aluminum (which unfortunately was at a slightly higher price). If you pre-ordered before the increase you are locked in at the lower price.
We have updated our picture gallery with the updated pictures of both screens.

there is viking that has that laptop but he doesnt have alot of time to play with the laptop so... i guess we will have someone other advice...
what i want to know is the benchmark, built quality, flex keyboard or chasis, and if it gets hot
and **** i should of pre-orderd from xoticpccould of saved 100$ from previous setting

The only thing I want to know is when my laptop is going to ship. This is becoming tiresome. I could have had a laptop in my hands from a local place 3 weeks ago.

And robvya,
unless I am reading this wrong, you are spending only $30 more since you didn't jump in early, not $100. -
alright, sorry for posting too the questions here
edit: alright, the matte pwnageness got to me >_<... sent an e-mail for change -
Some of them aren't Psalms, some of them are from other books. Ex. PowerPro I 8:17 (17in version of the P 15:3). I'm assuming I means Isaiah.
-
yes, I know...I was a bit too quick with the Proverbs citation (not psalms....)
That dirty rotten Paladin wants me to read the whole blinking book.....my wife can't figure out why I'm so interested in the Bible all the sudden.
I fear she is going to be disappointed -
Justin, you still have it saying "fingerprint reader" in the graphical header on the specs page
-

It was updated also maybe refresh or clear your cache?

The total cost more for not pre ordering WSGXA+ is $39 + tax -

The laptop stays fairly cool but I wouldn't sit it on your laptop. Part of the reason it stays so cool probably has to do with the fact that it has a bunch of vents on the bottom that you'd probably plug by setting it on your lap. One of those $10-$25 lap desks would probably do the trick. -
-
thanks for your time noclue
-
Looks like there is a significant power consumption difference between the P9500 and T9400. 20% for DVDs, and 11% on Word. -
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
I ordered mine with a P8600 (25 watt). Will that extend the battery life to roughly 2.5hrs for casual browsing and word processing?
-
There's more after you finish with the P's:
http://www.powernotebooks.com/support/drivers.php -
and eco battery on is that the option that make the laptop get more battery life? so if normal mode that means the battery life is more shortened?
-
Justin, is it possible to order the Force 3551 without any logos on it?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
^ Our logo has a adhesive backing that can be removed easily if you wish.
-
That brushed black aluminum with the WSXGA screen looks fabulous though. Easily worth the extra dough. -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
^ I agree with you. The brushed aluminum looks very nice.
-
[email protected] Company Representative
Correct, as you change to any of the other modes the battery life will now decrease. -
i guess its worth picking up the 9-cell. Justin, i wondered if i decided to pre-order the MSI-1651, and in like i dont know... 2-3 month i have the money to order a 9 cell battery. Can i do that? and do you have any 9-cell battery?
-

-
so does that mean it won't even be branded if its WSXGA?
-
-
[email protected] Company Representative
You would have to ask your reseller, the typical logo inset is not on this model.
-
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
Looking at the pics of the WSXGA chassis makes me want that too, but I think it's too late for that...
-
Anyways, I sent an email begging for change -
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
If the canadian dollar goes up significantly tomorrow (not likely) then I'll consider it. -

BTW, does anyone know what it says here?
-
[email protected] Company Representative
It says 15.4" Widescreen -
Paladin,
Will we be able to remove the PNB logo from the WSXGA+ screens? You said they have no place to inset the logos, so I am assuming it will be an adhesive that will be possible to remove? I like the look of a bare brush metal aluminum lid. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
^--^
Have you looked at the pictures of the WSXGA+ PowerPro P 15:3 on our website? There is no label on the Black Brushed Aluminum LCD lid. -
Hi Paladin,
Wowwww ... you guys really have outdone yourself ... GREAT Pictures ...
THANKS!
G!
