The 3DM06 score I've hit was + / - 6500 points. That was at stock settings but on Vista x64 with the Catalyst 8.12 driver.
I've to contact MSI if they can send me a GT725 / GT727 for benchmarks![]()

what cpu are you using. -
not that high fps tho, i think about 40? but not sure. lacks sometimes tho.
i went to using Xp 32-bit now, because x64 could not find the cd drive o_0
but now i have a issue about my OS only finding 3.5 gb/ram...
i really need a final version of windows 7. lol. waiting for january 2010 -
and it annoys me a bit that the touch-sensitive buttons look very dirty after using them 5 minutes... lol... i like things very clean xD
But i am still very happy for this pc. buy it! -
I'm considering buying this, but for the money, is there a better option? The gateway from best buy seems popular as well..

Also, nVidia cards are failing like crazy out there, and after my 14 month old $2000 computer's nVidia card failed on me and neither nVidia or Sony would do anything to help, I went out of my way to find an ATI card.
The 3850 isn't a monster made for pro gaming, but most games run very smoothly and that is good enough for me. I smoothly run games like R6: Vegas 2 on full and Assassin's Creed on medium. I would go for this one. The most gaming for the money in my experience. -

Hi everyone.
I'm planning to buy this notebook pretty soon.
Before that I'd like to gather some info about 64-bit versions of the OS.
I intend to install xp 64-bit (cause I hate vista) but I'm wondering if ALL the drivers are available for this OS (I couldn't find any of them on MSI.com) and where to find them (it seems Deepestblue found them so if you could point me out the right direction it would be much appreciated).
I also read that to switch to windows xp (any version) you have to flash the BIOS to install AHCI driver. Could you please give me more details on that (especially how to flash the BIOS using an USB key).
I think that's pretty much it.
Thanks for your help. -
Hi guys!
I'm having an issue with Touch sensitive panel (turbo, eco, wireless, etc). I think is going crazy hehe... by friday the panel stop working... very strange... I tested a lot of things and get nothing... By Sunday morning... the panel was working like before... no problems, everything works great!! but... By today (wednesday late) stop working again... I can't explain that!
What do you thing? what should I do?
Warranty?? This is very complex to me, because I'm outside US
Hope You can help me....
Regards! -
Hmm you could attempt to re-install system control manager and ec firmware for your touch sensor.
-
I think the flex connector has released, I suppose touch panel connects to the main board by a flex cable, easy to adjust.
Do you know how can I open my notebook to check the connector? Is complex? I think is just a bad connection; what do you think about? -
I think the top plates can easily be removed, the connection could be bad like you said, or the firmware for the touch sensors needs re-installing.
I think its just a case of popping up the plate and re-attaching the flex cable. -
Thanks a lot for your help!
Regards catacylsm! -
Hmm, i will look into where to find this ec firmware ( i do know it exists hehe)
I will also try and find the video where i saw someone on the gt627 repair keyboard flex (the plate needs popping).
Im hoping they are similar, i shall also check there website for service manuals.
Cheers

I don't think Resistive-Touch sensitive panel is damaged because it was working perfectly by 4 days after the first down; what do you think? flex Cable problem? MoBo problem? Warranty?
If I must send it to warranty, do you know how it works? how much time i must wait to get my notebook again? I can't wait a lot!!
thanks for your help! -
Well my warrenty sucked (but bear in mind im not officially with MSI, im using a rebrand.)
From what i hear MSI warrenty is good, To remove flex ribbons/cable, theres normally a flip up clip or some retractable clip.
Wouldnt make sense if it was the mobo but it could be something minor which may eventually grow.
Bios reflash prehaps?
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1517
Still cant seem to find where ec is, maybe its in with the bios, i would also suggest getting in contact with MSI, they have good support and answer quite regularly. -

< $700 after rebate at newegg -
Wow, and there bringing out vidock soon which is most compatible iwth AMD platforms.
-
was searching for 2 days on best price/value for a gaming notebook and this one stuck out like a sore thumb for how great it was.
just bought it from new egg late last night cant wait to get it
since i'm from TN newegg charged me sales tax....which SUCKED
but I hope that means it gets here faster -
can't wait 'til it comes in!
-
I've got mine, speaking of the rebate how do I claim it now? -
Is_My_Name_Taken Notebook Enthusiast
newegg rebate is back up till the end of July now
still a penny under 700 -
I heard MSI down clocked the 3850 on the GT735, heres the review on Newegg:
Pros: @ Matthew: you are correct, the video card is downclocked, but there is a way to overclock the video card.
In GPU-Z, there is a button to the right of "BIOS Version" under the "Graphics Card" tab. This button will allow you to create a copy of the video card's BIOS. Click this and save a copy.
Next, download "Radeon Bios Editor (RBE)" (google it). This program will allow you to modify the BIOS. Open your saved BIOS file with RBE. In RBE, go to the "Clock settings" tab up top. Before you change any clocks, check the "Locked" box below all the clock info boxes. Now the only two columns you need to change are "Clock info 00", and "Clock info 03". These two need to have the same values. My current clocks are 630//666, so yes, I'm running on a 50Mhz core overclock.
When you're done setting your clocks, click the "Get Winflash!" button at the bottom of the window and extract it to a folder somewhere. Now back in RBE, click the "Acquire/Flash..." button at the bottom of th
Cons: (Cont).
window and browse to where you extracted winflash too. Now click "Analyze", wait for it to finish, then click "Flash BIOS". The flashing should take anywhere from 10-20 seconds. Once done flashing, reboot the laptop and check GPU-Z to see you new clocks. Hope this helps.
Other Thoughts: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I have flashed my BIOS several times so I know its safe... but there is always a risk that your computer may crash or your house will collapse on the laptop while flashing and you will have an unusable card!
Is this true?????? -
Before you do that, do you mean downclocked when idle?
-
I am not sure, I want to see if I can get this confirmed, see if its true or not.
-
All radeon cards these days downclock on idle, to save power and extend life, like your 4850 also nacr
-
I know that, But dude who did the review acts like its downclocked all the time.. Prolly a noob who dont know Jack..lol
-
speaking of my 4850, I was messing around last night and put the GPU in my 1722 with the heatsink and kaaboom, worked fine.. So the 4850 will work in the 1722..
-
Dude that is frikin awesome to know man, you should put that in the 1722 forum, these ccards will be aquirable some day, and if the barebones take them, WOW !
-
Well the 1722 and the GT725 have the same Motherboards so it was obvious it would work from the begining.. I am stil waiting for my 3870 to arrive, I was hoping to get it today but no luck.. I am assuming that will also work but wont know til it comes..
-
i have the gt735 and if someone tells me how i would love to confirm/deny the downclocked claim
-
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Well, GPU-Z will usually tell you current clocks, the Overdrive tab in CCC should show you what clocks the card is set to clock to in 3d mode (most current cards use 2d/3d modes to save power)
-
Not a fan of Vista, and is usually slower then WinXP when it comes to gaming.
Thanks.
EDIT: lookey here -> http://www.notebook-driver.com/msi/msi-gt735-gaming-laptop-windows-xp-vista-drivers/
hopefully its that simple, is there anything else i may be missing ? -
I don't know if anyone overclocked their 3850 yet but can someone tell me if my score is low?
-
Are you running stock settings, or did you OC your cpu and/oc gpu?
Also, what OS and drivers are you running? -
It's not very good! But! so far no problems with the system at Oc'd mode! -
-
I'm thinking of buying this laptop. Specs look good, and has good reviews.
How well would this run World of Warcraft?
Also, are there any downsides to this Laptop? If so, what are they? If I get it, i want to overcome any problems as soon as I get it. -
I bought this notebook, it would tear WoW to pieces in its sleep.
you could prolly run WoW windowed side by side perfectly.
the main pros:
fast, has ran every single game ive ran flawlessly (will run crysis on high without any tweaks straight out of the box)
beautiful large screen which doesnt look bad at an angle like most notebooks
turbo button knocks the cpu speed up by a huge percent, right out of the box.
sturdy, feels nice.
has numpad
comes with cool backpack
its an AMD platform
super quiet
cons:
not really made to be used on the battery, low battery life.
air coming out is pretty hot sometimes and if youre using a mouse its gonna hit you right in your mouse hand
keyboard setup is a little weird
32bit OS (which can be upgraded to 64bit on the same product code if you get your hands on a disk)
if you have any more questions about it, i ran a bunch of 3dmark06 tests on it in one of my other threads about 6100 marks right out of the box, can get it easily to 7000 with some tweaks and a 64bit OS -
Open box special on new egg now for like 650... I'm really considering getting one of these to tide me over for another year or so... thoughts?
-
Looks good, any difference on the warranty?
Edit: Looks like 3 yr limited warranty for a new one, 30 days for the open box.
So you save $42 on the open box ($658 open box, $700 after rebate on new), but have a much longer warranty on the new one.
Personally, I think I'll go for the new one. -
It's actually 799 after rebate, so you're paying an extra $142 for the warranty, and for that price, if I get more than a year out of it, I've probably got my money's worth... Just get a cooler so that it doesn't overheat and I doubt I'd have much to worry about. -
the notebook is amazing
-
Er No sir.
* Original Price: $899.99 - original newegg price
* You Save: $100.00 - instant discount (not a rebate)
*
* Your Price:$799.99 - out the door price (before rebate)
* Mail-In Rebate pdf:34-152-087 $100.00 - mail in rebate
* Price after rebate34-152-087(s):$699.99 - price after rebate -
unless youre unlucky enough to live in a state where they charge you sales tax...like i am...newegg charged me $75 for tax
-
I've really been searching this one alot. I like the features alot. Even though this would be for school, I still play NR2003 and GTA SA so this should be perfect for my needs. I do have a question though for all of you that have this model, what software does it include right out of the box? Doe's it have Microsoft Office at all on it? -
Hey, Do you think I can run Grid with this graphics card?
-
I just bought this laptop a few days ago and i am having some problems. Whenever i have the turbo button on, it will crash any program that i am using, ie firefox, and quick time. Is there something i need to know about specifically using this feature or is there an update for the program that runs it? thanks
