nope, more my fault..i forgot to mention it was crysis..![]()

also I totally agree, to make the comparison between the ATI Mobility HD 4850 vs Nvidia 9800m GTX fair,
-same CPU
-same RAM
-same OS
-same bench software settings. -
we have to play the cards we are dealt...
old skool vs new skool ..lol
waiting on the E or ichime to run some test with the whitebooks.
nothing will be 100 percent straight across untill they put the same gpu in the exact same computer. and since that would cost quite a bit..i don't see that happening any time soon. although ichime did run two sets of cards (nvidia/ati) in his alienware i think. don't remember if he did it with his whitebook though.... -

those temps aren't quite right...he is going to redo them and then repost.

Have to say it mate, but you got a duff one. This keyboard is stable as hell. Keys feel sturdy on every keystroke. No bending in the chassis whatsoever, even when ramped up at quite an angle. Been lobbing it about quite a bit to test it indirectly. ^^
If you don't buy it just due to an isolated problem this guy got, you really need to rethink your mentality. -
-
Ok so the product quality seems to be alright
Any infos on the display? I mean faisal posted some infos but I can´t figure out what display that should be. -
-
Two questions. Does the mouse light up? and hows the sound? when watching a movie or playing a game can you tell its in surround sound? Can you tell it has a subwoofer and does it sound good?
I know its not like a real 5.1 system but I'm just wondering If its as good as it can get.
I'm pulling my hair out trying to decide on this or
ASUS G Series G71G-X3 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T9400(2.53GHz) 17.0" Wide UXGA 4GB Memory 320GB HDD 7200rpm BD Combo NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS - Retail $1599.00
Help please. -
Aaaalright, I found a chap with a P9500 and 9800M GTX who was kind enough to run the Far Cry 2 bench for me. Stock Results:
All credit goes to onebyside. -
@ the other guy: you dont want to play games with a 9800M GS. Not enough power -
The 9800M GS is still within the top 10 most powerful single GPUs available for laptops. I guess the amount of power required is subjective.
-
nvidia has digital vibrance... but for ati, im not sure what's it called. but it does bring ones screen to life. in a major way! -
-
As I said, jumping on or off the bandwagon just for the one person is a little on silly side. What I've heard from people so far is the same experience as me.
The same goes for it being a different model. One shouldn't make assumptions. -
As far as I can tell, there are only 2 GT 725 owners so far that have shown up. Not exactly a very large population size.Seriously though, it's good to see that MSI is doing really well with the GT 725 series, it is beginning to look like they are taking Gateway's FX series to the next level.
As for the 9800 GS comment, I'm not going to bother with it. It's just going to degenerate further. If given the choice between the G71G-X3 and the GT 725. There isn't very much going for for the G71G-X3. The only advantages I can think of would be the extended warranty available to Asus laptops, and the capability for more than 1 hard drive.
G71G-X3 = WUXGA, 320 GB, 4GB RAM, 9800M GS, T9400, BD
MSI GT725-075US = WUXGA, 320 GB, 4GB RAM, ATI 4850, P9500, BD -

Might there be huge difference in battery with P9500 between when en/disabling the turbo feature?

Hey Guys... been reading all the GREAT posts - TY. I have a couple of questions. First - any update to the US release? Second - the best two deals I have found are Amazon and XoticPC, but there are differences. Amazon offers the PC with Vista HP 64 for $1600, XoticPC offers the PC with Vista HB 32 for $1600 and they ask for $124 to upgrade to Vista HP 64.... What OS is preloaded @ MSI with this computer??? Thanks Again!
-
Could one of the GT725 owners please take a picture of the notebooks audio connectors?
Just want to make sure if there is a SPDIF connector and what type it is.
thanx -
I dont have re-think my mentality. I am thinking of not buying it due to the screen and its design. Plus I am a bit concerned about its build quality. What you perceive to be well-built might be crap to another. -
US version is listed on MSI US site as 1680x1050 low end, and 1920x1200 high end.
9800M GS is plenty powerful enough to play games, and on the ASUS G50VT it's been overclocked to GTS speeds with a 3DMark06 of 9703, but it still would be nice to see some game/app benchs as I am entirely distrustful of synthetic performance v. realworld apps/games.
Keyboard: Yeah cuib has the GT627-218US, and it would appear to have the same kb flex problems that the GX620/1651 have. (Generally it's mentioned at least once in every review...) It kind of looked like the other 15.4" and 17" models of MSI nbs use the same kb part, but maybe they put in some additional kb supports on the 17" models and/or the 725 specifically. -
I updated my gripes in both 627 threads to reflect this, that I am having a personal reaction again the kb only, the rest of the rig is fine. -
the keyboard flex on the barebones 1651 i have is not at all that bad...
-
BTW, HD4850 and 9800gtx have no significant different performance in desktop. some games ATI go goal but some games NVIDIA is the winner. so I think 9800gtx that has more memory will beat hd4850

How is the sound and the speakers. How's the sub woofer.

ok guys finally i mange to get crysis and crysis warhead freaking hell have to visit like 10 shop b4 i found it.

edit: i was playing far cry 2 yesterday i found it boring as hell the stroy line mode anybody else agree?
EDIT: i m installing CRYSIS -
so i cant even play these games
I wont be able to tell you anything ...
my desktop computer is a 700 mhz pentium III which has since died a long time ago ...
-
also, i didn't know fc2 had a setting for AF? where is that at?
i ran it with nvidia set to AF=4x AA=0 and got 32 fps @1280x1024 with one 9800m gtx so sli/crossfire on a laptop could match them running ranch short.
interesting...
edit:
1920x1200 AF=16x AA=8x ultra high 17fps @2.4 ghz
1920x1200 AF=16x AA=8x very high 19fps @2.4 ghz -
I really have to hand it to the Sager NP9262 John has, that is amazing for a laptop.
Now we compare Crisis! that's a more Nvidia friendly game by far, but good... that'l give it a good challenge, and quad core vs. dual core has little to do with the scores in Crisis, Crisis is all about shader performance. -
thanks!
that test isn't accurate.... it was ran in dx9 mode and the msi was in dx10. look at the top of it.
the q6600 was ran in dual core mode only @ 2.4 ghz
the qx9650 was ran in dual core mode only @ 3.0 ghz
just letting people know that quite a few of these games use less than 50 percent of dual core cpus. so that means running a quad core in dual core mode might yield better or even results.
sometimes...more is not always better... -
Glad you saw that John, I hate posting incorrect comparisons. Ideally we want everything to be exact here, otherwise it's pointless. -
But wait...Faisal's is in Dx9 tho..
-
I'm seeing Ranch Small, hold on didn't he post a Ranch Long earlier Dx10? I'm gonna go look for it.
-
he re ran it here (faisalhero)
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4487669&postcount=329
dx10/ultrahigh/ranch long -
-
that was when he wasn't sure what he was doing...now he is sure...
-
Oh ok, forget that last post then.
Yah those are really nice results he got there. -
-
-
So if I am looking at the benchmarks right, the 9800M GTX performed slightly better in DX9 than the 4850HD did in DX10. And DX10 is more strenuous, so 4850HD wins?
EDIT:: I just noticed that faisal used the stock ultrahigh settings, while the 9800M GTX did it without bloom and HDR, which I assume would decrease framerate even more? -
-
the test kevin posted was not done correctly to specs. so he is going to have him (the original guy who ran them the first time) re run them.
