it would be very sad that two radeon in a 2000+ laptop couldn´t beat a single 4850
-
yes it would .....

edit: never mind my scores were higher by far in farcry2. it was just crysis. i was beaten badly in. no offense to fasial,. -
Who would you guys recommend I purchase this laptop through? I've checked Newegg and Amazon, Amazon of which seems the cheaper route thanks to shipping (yay for living on an Island...), I dont know of any other retailers selling this particular laptop.
I'm in Hawaii btw, if that affects anything as far as shipping eligibility. -
-
Awesome thanks, also what Blu-ray drive does the 725 use? I would like to add a Blu-ray drive but I dont think I want to spend the extra $250 for the 075 model (I can do without the higher resolution and slight processor upgrade).
EDIT - Checkin the listing on Amazon it says it comes with 64 Bit Vista, is this a typo or did they actually get rid of the 32 bit systems? -
-
hey i got the 075 version is anyone having problems with crysis warhead?? i updated my graphics drivers but everytime i try to play i have these black dots that are aligned across the screen, and the screen is filled with random flickers of gray shapes/lines
-
what u say if we run all the benches again to compare ?
let me know if u are up for it which tool u wanna use and what setting should we run them?

What blu-ray drive is compitable with this notebook?
Gotta know that I can pick it up later and not regret goin for the cheaper model -
Black dots and flickers of grey are signs of bad video memory.
http://www.playtool.com/pages/artifacts/artifacts.html
here ya go.. sounds like the GPU or video memory is either defective or overheating what are your temps?
roll back driver to default and check to see if ya still have a problem..
also what mod driver are you using? modtool or the manual hack?
here is a 'snippet' from the page that describes your problem. if rolling back fails to fix your problem.
Arrays of dots or vertical and horizontal lines are another common video RAM artifact. In the image above you can see a few areas of dots on the doors. Most examples have more dots than in this image. This kind of problem can appear both in 2D and 3D mode.
So what do you do if you think you have bad video RAM? Unfortunately, there's no well supported video RAM testing program that I'm aware of (there are a few old obscure ones that I don't trust) so it's not easy to test directly. One thing you should do is test your motherboard RAM. Video cards often store data in the motherboard RAM so sometimes it can cause artifacts which look like video RAM problems. It's easy to test your motherboard RAM so you should always do that before assuming that the video card's RAM is at fault. Overheating can definitely cause video RAM problems so you should try running your computer with the desk fan blowing on the video card as described above.
If you're overclocking your video card then the first thing you should do is back off on your overclock. Increasing your video RAM clock commonly causes artifacts. It can overheat your RAM enough to permanently damage it. The damage is cumulative and RAM seems especially vulnerable to it. I've seen plently of examples of people whose overclocks worked for a few months and then they started getting RAM artifacts. They discover that they have to reduce the RAM clock rate to make the artifacts go away. And then later they have to reduce their RAM clock more and more as their RAM deteriorates. They often end up running at clock rate far below stock to stop the artifacts. Overclocking is risky and increased heat accelerates the rate at which the RAM gets worse. Even if you're not overclocking then you can try underclocking your video RAM to see if the problem goes away. There are instructions on how to underclock on this page. If underclocking makes the artifacts go away then you know you have a hardware problem.
This is why i am a big fan of Underclocking my video card. I want my investment to last a long time. i currently run my video card at 450/750
average load temp is 62-64C and 70-72C in oblivion (large textures and it uses the full ram hence 10c spike compared to older games which only uses a fraction of the video ram) Crysis I imagine is using your video ram to its fullest so your GPU and ram are running 'hot' -
has anyone opened their GT725 and replace the the thermal paste with arctic silver yet? if so any noticeable improvement?

Faisal want to add this link for Temp monitoring/fps monitoring while in a game with http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=3030980&postcount=536
just make sure they update Directx at microsoft so vista's directx wont crash when using the FPS/temp monitor. there is a wealth of other on screen options to enable and its really handy! (overclocking/ fan control not supported for Mobile radeon 4850.. yet..)
Also RmClock is handy tool to monitor System temps and great for undervolting the cpu. -
Hi!
Yesterday I got my GT725 from the U.S. (Full-HD, Blueray and more)
The performance is very good but the display is not acceptable.
It was installed an SEC3448 (Samsung).
According to my research still have many other huge problem with this type of display.
There is an big light leakage at the bottom and the bright colors, especially the white, is very grainy
Monitor ID SEC3448
Manufacturer 170CT02-001
Manufacture Date 2005
Thats unbelievable, why MSI installed in such a notebook an display "SEC" from the year 2005?
Who has the same notebook and which display is installed?
Find Out:
Settings => Control Panel => System => Device Manager => Monitors => Gerneric PnP Mon. => Details => Hardware IDs
or
download Everest
Can you help me please?
Greetingz and thX
Chris
edit:
Can't nobody confirm that an SEC3448 was installed in the GT725? -
I just received my GT725-075US and have the same screen with the same issues you describe.
-
Bought this laptop (074 version) this morning and got rush shipping to get it today if possible ha ha yes im very impatient...anyways i was going to get the 627-18 but after some research i decided to shell out the extra 50 for a better gpu and bigger screen plus i didn't really need the blu ray player since i have a stand alone one already oh and i got empire total war with it so can't wait to game on this thing

Excellent effort up there, near 11k...
Probably have to swap in and overclock T9600/QX9100/QX9300 to get it any higher, or to wait for driver update/overdrive limitation removal. -
umm, yes...more is possible....

I just confirmed purchase through Amazon (what a relief)! GT725-074 on its way, paid for 2 day shipping so it'll be here Friday! Always fun to get new toys
.
I still have a couple questions about upgrading to a Blu-ray drive in the future (when it's a little more affordable):
1. What size/brand drive fits this notebook?
2. Is it just plug-and-play (after getting drivers and/or a player of course)?
3. Even though I am getting the lower res 074 model, will output through the HDMI cable still play 1080p if I hooked it up to my TV? -
I would just like to confirm if the screen on the 074 for the rest of you guys is not too bright. I have mine on highest brightness, and it does not come close to my 4 year old laptop.
-
Hmm anyone had problems with Vantage saying minimum res unsupported, its stopping me from doing feature tests, or can i still complte benchmark without,
I recon the advent could hit 7k+ on the benchmark.
