Guys, I have a problem with a laptop. I spilled a liquid on a keyboard and some keys got messed up. I ordered a new one. And after I installed it, i am getting the same problem. Any advice on how can I fix this? Any, even slight ideas would be greatly appretiated.
    Thank You.

For some strange reason key mapping got messed up. The new keyboard appears to be responding its just keys are assigned to the actual keys are assigned to the wrong spaces.

Does anyone else have their download speed capped at around 2mbps? My Gt60 downloads everything at 2mbps even on 5ghz wifi. I know my router goes up to 7mbps because that's how fast my other laptops download. Is there any fix?

Double check the killer network manager, maybe get the latest version of the software.

You can download the latest version from Killer directly.

Perhaps the keyboard is meant for a different model but not yours, compare the part number on the back to verify.
If it's true, then you have gotten the wrong keyboard.

Even after updating Killer drivers I still have a download speed around 2mbps. I'm starting worry that my wireless card is faulty. Is anyone getting above 2mbps?

Nvm I solved the problem. After some time it just worked.
Also is it normal to get a 4 or 5 second freeze with the laptop randomly. (My HDD is the boot drive.) Task manger shows that my disk usage is 100% randomly and sometime my computer freezes/ slows down a lot. Is anyone else experiencing this with the HDD? Im planning on purchasing a sad anyways and hopefully that will fix the problem.

Check task manager and inspect process threads, verify if there's any of them that constantly sucking up all of your CPU resources, etc.

But if you are unable to find the root cause, then the easiest way is to do a recovery via Reset PC function.
    Restore, Refresh, Reset PC.
Once completed, then remove the Killer driver, reboot, install the new driver, reboot.
Attempt to reproduce your issues and verify.

It possibly might be because of Advanced Power Management. My drive spins down after about 60s of not being used, and thus when it is needed again it has to spin up again first (= slow/can cause freezing). You can disable APM - I do it with CrystalDiskInfo - go Function -> Advanced Feature -> AAM/APM Control and then you can click disable.

I found why was happening for me. If you notice the driver it points to when also giving this message is the HDMI driver. Going into sleep when my second monitor was unplugged worked without problems.

    MSI USA

Installing an updated driver will fix the issue.

Can someone help me with my wireless constantly dropping? I have the GT60 2OC-022US with all the default hardware. Everytime I play League of Legends on it I always have lag spikes randomly sending my ping from anywhere between 140 to 500. When I first bought this laptop about a month ago everything was perfectly fine but starting about two weeks ago this problem has been occurring more and more often. Now it's not only LoL but also the entire wifi just completely dropping. It reconnects after a couple minutes but it is still incredibly annoying. Can this possibly ever be fixed through a driver update by Killer? I've tried the driver from MSI's website and the driver from the Killer website but both give me the same problem. Did I really buy a laptop that has an irreparable wireless card? Is there even a fix for this? Any help to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Just finished updating. Best thing about this update for me is the DPI scaling is much better now. Now its easier on my eyes because before the texts were small, but readable, but now, it scales much better in my 15.6 screen. However, whats up with "My Computer"? . Its says "This PC"? Also displays a bunch of folders, whats up with that?

Only problem I noticed is, the killer network manager states "Network Status : Disconnected", dont know how that effects as I still can browse like before. Driver issue?

I'm still on stock driver, maybe I should update to the 8.1 compatible version......

Can you go to device manager and check the driver version of your WLAN adapter?
Could you possibly having spyware/malware in the system? Try running Malwarebytes, see if it clears the out.
Was the system constantly connected to the AC source? Was the battery too?

Hopefully that solves the issue.I am still on stock driver and I was downloading the 8.1 update.

Man I am just not sold on full W8 yet... I hate the apps hahaha, but I need to keep moving forward in the end :) so as long as the update brings other benefits, I am all for it.

I have the same problem. There was a solution posted in this thread - http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/732521-official-msi-gt70-20c-technical-issues-thread.html. It doesn't completely alleviate the problem but still helps. At least on my computer it decreased the number of wireless drops to 1-2 per day. The strange thing though that when I tried to reset laptop the problem came back again. And it took me several resets (no other changes) until the problem stopped again.

Hi guys I just ordered a 120gb Samsung Evo ssd and am going to transfer all of my data by restoring my laptop (with only hdd inside) to factory settings then cloning the hdd to the ssd. Do I need to clone the data partition along with the OS Install partition or would just copying the OS Install be sufficient? (I didn't put any files on the data partition.) Also are the MSI recovery files on the OS Install partition or somewhere else because I want to copy those over to the ssd as well. (I'm planning on doing another factory reset after putting the ssd in alone.) Can someone tell me where the factory reset recovery files are located and which partitions to copy? Thanks.

    Update:
I think I found the recovery partitions (One is 600mb and another is 14.16gb) in disk manager but am not sure how to safely move them to the ssd. I'm wondering if Samsung migration software will take care of it.

Thanks for the response. I've tried the drivers from the MSI website and the most recent one from the Killer. I even tried the stock driver from the CD that came with the laptop and that is the one I'm currently using. The driver version is 10.0.1.222.
I am almost 100% sure I don't have malware/spyware because I had this problem for a while now and I even resorted to reformatting and doing a clean install of Windows 8 but the problem is still occuring.
The laptop is 99% of the time connected to the AC and battery.

    Any help is appreciated.

Looking at maybe taking back the Alienware 17 (see sig) and getting: MSI GT70 2OC-059US 17.3" Laptop Computer - Brush Aluminum Black GT70 2OC-059US - Micro Center

Would I be able to install Windows 7 to that laptop without any issues? I figured I would ask on here since it is an Owners Lounge. Maybe a step by step guide or some links as I couldn't find any drivers online (maybe I was searching the wrong area.)

I also planned on putting the SSD that is in the Alienware into the MSI (I bought it seperately) Hopefully I can get some help here as I have about 3 or 4 days to do an exchange and while I love the Alienware, I am having a little bit of a Buyer's remorse on the cost of it.

    Thanks for all the help!

Well we sell it with windows 7 as an option so it will be fine. You will want to download all the drivers from MSI first.

This is the link to the Driver Downloads site....

    MSI Global GT70 2OC

You're right, I don't know why they make it so difficult to find. They have like 3 different websites, and this one was so hard to find, searching like crazy to find it, when it should be top of the list.
The other thing I wish they would do is provide a DESCRIPTION with the drivers to tell you what the driver/utility does, it's it's required or not etc. I mean what the heck is that???
Like what's this new "Dragoon Gaming Center" that wasn't there before???

    ------

    Wireless dropping issue....

Yes, see my thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/732521-official-msi-gt70-20c-technical-issues-thread.html for a "workaround" for the problem.

Basically, to "rarely" disconnect you have to use the driver I mention in the thread, with the settings and use an "Internet Connectivity Monitor" and have it ping a website once every second (by that name also is the only one I've found to work) to stay connected to the internet.
I even got a NetGear wireless extender, and while the computer almost never disconnected from it, you could see it constantly disconnecting from the router, and thus you would have disconnects.
So, the issue is with the newer generation wireless technology and certain crappy routers. Mines a CenturyLink made by ActionTec. It's also an issue with drivers, but, it's more the newer tech and poor router design.

Ok cool! Thank you so much!

Question: how is the reliability? As I have a Samsung, that needed to be sent in for warranty repair twice in the first year. Now, I am concerned on how long it'll last me, which is why I bought the Alienware. But looking at the price of the MSI one it's a little cheaper, so I could get some of my money back. (Microcenter didn't have it in stock when I bought the Alienware.)

As far as I've seen a couple of months looking at MSI and Sager they are gaming computers thus built reliably and you really can't lose. Obviously there is a rare instance of a problem, but MSI has the best warranty, and I love the computer design, glad I went with it instead of Sager. The only problem I've really seen is pray you have a good newer higher end router, otherwise the wireless might have problems. But, that's not MSI, it's newer gen cards and certain routers. I returned two computers Acer & Lenovo because of wireless issues and otherwise, and this MSI has the same problem. But again, it's my sucky router more than anything else. See above link and my Intel ones if you want. But, most people have decent routers, otherwise everyone would be reporting this and they clearly aren't. So go for it.

Ok cool. Yeah, I know there can always be issues on occasion, and mine with the Samsung was a worst case scenario I guess you could say.

I have a Belkin N600 Dual band Wireless-N router that I take between my parents, my gf's parents and where ever else I can. But if not, I will keep this in mind when at restaurants and such. (Buffalo Wild Wings and McDonalds and such.)

Hi there, guys. I'm a proud owner of gt60 2oc. It came with 8gb or ram and it's time for upgrade.
So, my first question is have you tried to upgrade your ram? What models do you suggest? I want to buy Kingston KHX16LS9P1K2/16 ( 404 Error | Kingston Technology) but maybe you have different opinion on Kingston or it's compatability.
My second question is did anyone got linux running on this beast? I've tried everything I found, but still nothing.

Hey all, I'm tempted to get the GT70-2OC and wondered if anyone who owns it played the Battlefield 4 beta and could tell me what the performance was like on it? What was the fps like on max settings?

Finally, how easy is it to upgrade the RAM? Is it easy for say someone with intermediate computer skills? Not taken a laptop apart in over 10 years and last time I did, I recall having to dismantle the entire thing to get at the mobo.

The 770M is a nice cool running card that has solid base performance which as shown will do well at 1600x900 and a lot of tweaking room which means you could get it to doing 1080p at high and have a very smooth experience too.

Yes, it is fine to upgrade to this SSD.
But 128GB is too small, I would go for at least 256GB if budget allows.

Use the MSI Burn Recovery shortcut to create the factory set of recovery discs first, change out the drive, and use the discs to restore it.

Somewhat laptop noob question but does running the laptop in dual monitor effect performance on high end games like Battlefield3/4? One of the main reasons why I'm going with this laptop is so that it can replace my 360 and give me the portability to allow me to play controller based games on my living room tv. If it does effect performance, is it possible to treat the laptop like the desktop and have my monitor/tv as the only screen?

Finally, not used Windows 8 before and honestly, can't say I'm all that excited.. just to confirm, is there Windows 7 drivers available for this laptop if I decide to downgrade? I assume so but always best to be on the safe side.

If you connect the monitor to the HDMI or DP and have it hooked directly the the DGPU with the game running on that monitor you would actually get a small performance increase (it is only a couple of percent but wont hurt :) )

You can hook up to an external display such as your TV, but once you've done so you should set the TV as your primary display using screen resolution property.
By doing so, you can avoid potential tearing issue on the image output.

You can downgrade to Win7, be sure to go into the BIOS and switch UEFI mode to UEFI + CSM, or Legacy.
    Win7 drivers are available for GT60/70 2O.
Click here, and click on Driver, select OS type.

What is the highest core/memory overclock I can go with the 770m without needing to raise the voltage and without frying anything? :D

I'll be playing BF3/4 with it.
