On another hand, have you monitored the temperatures on the GTX 770M to make sure the heatsink is mounted properly? Idle core temperatures should be 40-50C and load temperatures should not be higher than 85C. -

MSI vbios (MSI vendor)
These are some posts I have consulted with admin from Laptopvideo2go.
Some question about GTX770M upgraded - Support Discussion (English) - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
I think he is NVIDIA developer and I got forceware 326.29 with INF mod from that.
He said "Even the MSI one may still behave the same"
I'm not sure what he mean. (If you understand please tell me)
This list are some drivers I can install :
- 311.83 WHQL -- work great but got few stuttering, and some game got mess graphic eg. Tomb Raider 2013.
- 326.19-beta -- still got error and stuttering but can play Tomb Raider 2013.
- 326.29 (now using) -- like 326.19-beta but got better performance for some games.
Even GPU-Z got an error like above link I explained.

Alienware vbios (NVIDIA vendor)
Moreover, I got INF mod 320.49 from TechInferno
675MX to a 770M? - Page 2
Then I got 770M Alienware vbios from #rep25
675MX to a 770M? - Page 3
I compare it with Kepler BIOS Tweaker v1.25, same vbios as a result.
Finally, I tried to install 326.29 and got black screen. -
Hey guys, I just got my GT60 and everything's working fine except the keyboard backlight which doesn't seem to be working at all. I've tried reinstalling the keyboard light management program, but the backlight still won't work. Does anyone have any ideas?
-
That sucks, the back-lighting looks so nice ;-)
Have you tried switching it on or off inside the Keyboard Light Manager?
Have you tried the soft touch button?
Do any of the other soft touch buttons work (I.e. coolerboost/G-pannel)?
The soft touch buttons don't always register the first time you touch them, so try a couple of times. -

MSi GT60 2OC-003US has two HDD bays, one comes empty in the default config. Moved the HDD to the second bay and slotted a new SSD into the primary bay
Also note that the first part of the model numbers is two-oh, not two-zero. I've corrected the quote to help people searching for this info. -

Yes, any model that ships with at least 1 mSATA drive has:
3xMsata slots + optical + 2.5" bay
any model that ships with no mSATA drives has:
optical + 2x2.5" bay -

Has anyone tried the new EC Firmware dated 2013-08-02?
Did they change the startup spinup? -
Hey guys, can anyone tell me how you opened your rigs up without voiding the warranty? Mine has a white warranty sticker across the bottom access door.

So is the gt60-2oc 022us the same as the gt60 2oc 003us?

Here are the temps for an hour's worth of GTA IV @ 1080p All High Settings with that EC...Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste.

kindof off topic sorry but Im really trying to decide between the gt60 2oc 022 and the ge60 2oe 003, i have been following the posts here and in the ge60 owners lounge and im wondering if the people in the ge60 owners lounge just complain too much or the ge60 actually has as many problems as it seems and if it is worth the like $200 to move up to the gt60 which not too many people seem to have any serious complaints about on this thread
-
Hey guys, I just picked up this laptop, and it's great. Just one complaint. The fan has a light hum on idle that is kind of annoying, so I'm wondering if the T&T B9733L12B-028 fan is the correct model to replace it with.
-
I installed the new fan EC today, not 100% sure I installed it correctly though. Ran both the winflash.exe and autoflash.exe, I think the latter one just reflashed and shutdown the machine afterwards.
-
I'll update the EC in a minute. I'm happy they changed the spinup.
I did a 20 minute NFS most wanted session today, and at ambient temperatures of ~30 degrees Celsius I reached a maximum temperature of 77 degrees. It was a bit hot on my legs, but it was worth it. Only 5 degrees hotter than normal
Question: I noticed the Nvidia GPU doesn't clock above 405 MHz when running on battery. Why doesn't it? Is there any way to force it?
I already tried setting the power setting in the Nvidia Control Panel to always preferred. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I'm going to work on the 770M a bit, see what it can do over the next week or so
-
MSI set it up so that the graphics card isn't effective when on battery power. They're assuming you will only be playing games when hooked up to a wall outlet, and are using it for general browsing or typing on the go. I'm not sure there is a way around this, I believe it has been discussed earlier in this topic.

Hey guys I am about to order my MSI GT60. I just had a question about the hard drive. I am going to keep the 1TB 5400rpm 8MB SATA II, but put a 256 SSD for my primary drive. I was just wondering if anyone else kept the 1TB and if anyone had problems with the speed of it? I am kind of debating about spending the extra money and putting 750GB 7200rpm instead. Sorry not really that experienced with this, so if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No, not quite. It is there to protect the battery from excessive power draw since tbe gpu is tbe most power hungry part and could exceed the max safe battery draw by itself.

I received my GT70 2OD 065US today
My previous laptop is DELL Inspiron 1525 ( Core 2 Duo, 2GB, 160GB ) still works like BRAND NEW but the reason I purchased MSI GT70 2OD 065US is for VIDEO rendering which my dell can't do without graphic card
Now I want upgrade these things on GT70 2OD 065US
1. From HDD to SSD but still thinking to buy 128GB or 256GB SSD because I really do not know how much size Windows 8 will occupy inorder to clone from HDD to SSD and don't know smooth cloning method. Can I completely format HDD and install fresh copy of Windows 8 on SSD and use license key embedded in BIOS? After that I will install drivers from MSI website. Will this work? because manufacturer installation of windows 8 contains standard softwares like bloatware I think? will reinstallation is different from manufacturer installation?
Is 128GB enough and please let me know how much free space will be available after installation of windows 8!
2. and also there are various flavors of SSD's out there with various READ/WRITE rates. Can't figure out because Samsung 840 Pro - 256GB - $230? I can buy a laptop to my bro for $230 instead of SSD. right?
3. Laptop is preinstalled with 2 X 4GB RAMS but I want to upgrade to 16GB. Here my question is can I add additional 8GB to inbuilt 2 X 4GB so that it will become 16GB (or) I have to use new 2 X 8GB ? because I'm nervous seen different voltage levels online
Please let me know and I would be very thankful -
That's what I did with my GT70; my Samsung 840 Pro is 240 GB - it's pretty fast and has a long warranty. I didn't check how much space was used but it was not too much. I installed the drivers and MSI utilities from the disk that came with the laptop.
I'm going to install everything that I can to another HD that came with the laptop. Your laptop has 4 memory slots afaik so just buy 2 more 4GB ones. I'll check how much space my install did use.
MSI doesn't have too much bloatware - my install CD has Adobe Reader (100 MB) and Trend Micro AV (800 MB).
OK, checked the space used - just about 35 GB atm. -
Can someone report the battery life of the gt60 2oc on balanced mode with the eco battery profile enabled while watching youtube and surfing the web?
Also can someone tell me if the gt60 can still play minecraft or league of legends on battery? (I wonder if the underclocked 770m could handle them.) -
128Gb is enough to install windows 8. I have Office and SolidWorks 2013 installed to my 128Gb Samsung 840 PRO SSD, and I have used ~70 Gb, including a 12gb hybernation file. Expect about 50 to 80 Gb free, depending on what you install.
2) I love my 840 PRO, and I still think it is one of the fastest and most reliable , but the SSD market is ever changing. Read some reviews on AnandTech.com for example and ask around on places like this.
The normal HDD is fast enough for games, but I never use it for video encoding.
3) You can install 1x 8Gb, and benefit from dual channel operation without a major disadvantage. This way your upgrade later will be cheaper.
Use DDR3L (1.35v) because I don't think normal DDR3 is supported. Also, make sure you get the same speed and the same or lower timings. Don't go above 1600MHz, because that isn't supported by Haswell, unless you're planing on overclocking.
Have you checked the number of ram chips with CPUz?
I was supposed to get 2x4Gb, but my machine came with 1x8Gb. I now run 24Gb in asynchronous mode. I haven't noticed any performance drop.
I hoe this helps, keep us updated. -
The only difference you should notice with the hard drives is the time spent copying old files over. Your data drive should really be used to hold documents and videos, so you shouldn't see too much of a difference when loading those up. If you plan on installing games there instead of your SSD, you might want to consider going with the higher RPM version.
My experience with the 770M has been pretty good so far, it's able to run Batman:AC, Tomb Raider, and Skyrim all at their max (or near max) settings with high FPS. Skyrim was a little choppy when I played it for some reason, but Batman:AC was really fluid and ran great. -
On another note, I had a question about the System Control Manager. The manager shows you popups of when you turn various device features on/off, such as the touchpad. I noticed that when you boot the computer up or wake it from sleep, the touchpad ON notification will come up even if the touchpad was previously disabled when put to sleep, and the touchpad will be active for several seconds. The icon will flash a few times on screen, and then the touchpad will be disabled afterwards.
Is this just a fault in the software, that it turns the touchpad on briefly? It's somewhat annoying... I tweaked the registry to enable the Synaptics software option to disable the touchpad when a USB mouse was plugged in, but then the SCM believes the touchpad is always on (and using the on/off option in the SCM doesn't do anything with the auto-disable option enabled in the Synaptics software). -

Another question for those that have the Intel 7260 ac card. Has anybody had intermittent connection issues with their router? It seems to be hit or miss for me, sometimes it runs great and other times the connection keeps dropping every minute or so. Router is running in g/n mode, getting an ac router soon though. Other devices have no connection problems with the router to the best of my knowledge.

Hey,
I got my MSI GT70 2OC 059 US about month ago. But my quick launch buttons (Cooler boost, led, airplane mode, display off/on, etc.) are not working. I mean they worked for a month, but now they`re just not reacting at all. I tried to reinstall SCM (system control manager), but it didn`t help. I also installed S-bar, but the situation is the same, they`re not reacting. -
How o you turn on the gtx 700 graphics card? My laptop is only running the intel hd graphics for some reason.

Hey guys,
Can anyone tell me how hot(if at all) the palm rest gets when gaming? -

Does anyone have any problems with their Killer Wireless 1202? Often it connects to my wireless modem with "limited access" - so it's kinda connected, but not properly (pinging the modem fails).
It takes between a few minutes to over half an hour to connect properly - resetting the adapter doesn't fix it (after a few tries/ after some time it does work after a reset). Once it is connected there aren't any problems (until a restart/sleep).
I've installed the latest Killer drivers from their website. I factory restored my wireless modem, and have made the laptop get given a static IP.
Occasionally my old laptop would get the limited access at random times (very infrequently) and resetting the adapter would fix it right up so it's possible it's the modem (and the modem just doesn't like the Killer card or something).
It's not a particularly great modem, was provided by my ISP. It's a Thomson TG585 v8.
Anyone have anything similar? -

I modded a 330W brick
Overkill for the 770M most likely but i do plan on using that extra headroom over a modded 240W when I get my proper 780M setup.
