I'm sorry that it came damaged. You should RMA it as soon as possible, as you are having BSoD's this early, You should contact your reseller, they'll help you out easy. And, what do you mean by "super slow"?

OK. I will try at my home.
But when I install this gpu, it can't start Intel graphics control panel too. (it run normally, that's oblivious)

So, I found another seller GTX770M that informed compatible with MSI. But my seller didn't...

They said "Please take note that this video card DOES NOT work with 3D enabled notebooks.
We are working on resolving this issue and till take this notice down when we have it up and running"

Did this may concern with my problem, too?

Can someone post their windows experience index score? For some reason my GPU got a 5.9. Is that normal?

I really don't trust WEI. Its the real gaming performance that matters. If your games are running at what the GTX 770M should, you are just fine. Don't worry about the WEI. If your want to check the performance correctly, then try the 3dMark11 for GPU, Crystaldisk for SSD/HDD, etc..

Heres a screen shot of my WEI :

What kind of temps are people getting with the newest models that have the newer nvidia and haswell? It sounds like these systems are running quite hot.

If it is running from the GTX770, it should have a WEI somewhere inthe 7's. I can't remember what mine was off the top of my head, but I can check later. A score of 5.0 probably means you're running from the Intel graphics or you have a driver issue.

My GT70 with the 4700QM and 770M sat at 70-80C during a Prime95 (I ran it on 4 threads rather than 8 though) + Furmark stress test. Using stock thermal paste, stock voltages and turbo fan is off. It was running at 2.8Ghz for most of the run (odd since XTU said it wasn't throttling), possibly once I find a Haswell compatible Throttlestop and undervolt with XTU temps may change.

It sat at 65C during a game of Dota 2 (not the best game to test temps though, the 770M was barely working at all!). I haven't run any more strenuous games yet, holding off on copying all my stuff over until my SSD drive arrives =)

Hey folks, I went through the thread and saw a nice list of sub-models and what is included in the second HDD slot. Unfortunately it didn't include the 2OC-003US variant. Does anyone know whether that model comes with an empty slot that I can slide my own drive into? Or is there an (empty) mSATA controller there? If the latter, can I remove it and slot in a normal 2.5" drive? Thanks :)

Through GenTech, where I ordered, the default config is 8x1. I upgraded to 8x2 and currently they are offering the same upgrade for a penny. I'm pretty sure MSI ships them with 8x1, but it has 4 slots. Thankfully the ones left open are the easy ones on the bottom, so I won't have to remove the keyboard if I want to add more.

Whats up man , i just finished a session of 3 hours of bioshock infinite on ultra and all the settings on high with my new msi gt70 2oc 065us , my temp right now is 76 it never gets past that.
and that is without using the turbo fan. so i dont think they are getting too hot. But i heard that the new models with the nvidia 780 burn hot too quickly, good thing i stick around with the 770

Like mr eko mentioned it's indeed a 5400rpm drive. 5400rpm has blue label and the 7200rpm will have black label and that's Scopio Black.

    Yes, that should be fine.

If you're only adding 1x 8gb, try to find out which slot is occupied under the keyboard to get the full advantage of Dual Channel mode. The keyboard is very easy to remove b.t.w..

I'm picking up my machine tomorrow! Just in time for my B-day! :D

Thanks for the heads up. It turns out that the system I paid $1726 for would have been $1691 if I had put my SSD in the secondary slot instead of the primary slot, which is bull. I just asked for a refund of the difference ($35) and hopefully the merchant will comply.

Also, you are right that the deal at Gentech is better. I checked out a 17' (I'm not interested in the 15' for a savings of ~$100) and it came out to $1696, $5 more than Powernotebooks. However, you get 24G RAM instead of 16G. So basically Gentech is selling you an extra 8G RAM for $5.

    I have a quick question;

According to my order my machine is shipping with 2 x 4gb, and I was going to replace that with 2 x 8 (already got it).

    Would 2 x 4 + 2 x 8 work? And how would that affect performance?
I don't need 24 gb of ram, but if it doesn't cut memory speed down (by not having a dual channel setup, or because the system is spending more recourses on managing ram), then why not?

In the 'olden days' memory was important, but it seems to be a lot less so. I know a pure Dual Channel setup used to be faster (~10% depending on the system), but is it still important?

I've heard of A-synchronous dual channel, but wasn't able to find out what it is?

Have the two 4's in channel A and the two 8's in channel B and it should work just fine. They have to all be able to run at the same clockspeed though.

Has anyone put an SSD in their optical drive bay? I'm wondering whether people notice a decrease in performance by doing that and whether it's better to have an SSD in a bay that's built for that purpose.

Yes it would. Your probably wouldn't notice a performance difference in anything you do today. However, a few years from now, the extra ram will probably be appreciated.

It shouldn't have to operate appreciably slower to handle four slots of memory. It will run in dual channel mode with 2x4 and 2x8. Just make sure they are in paired slots.

I'm not sure you'd really feel it unless you were watching an FPS counter closely, but certainly the benchmarks and some games will still run a little faster with dual channel memory as opposed to single channel.

A-sync dual channel would be, for example, 2x8gb + 1x8gb. The system would still see 24gb of ram, but only 2x8 would operate in dual channel mode. I'm not sure how the system manages this.

How difficult would it be to add an ssd to this laptop in addition to the hdd? This is likely to be my first laptop and I do have 240gb ssd in my desktop I'm willing to take out. Also, does the system come with a windows 8 disc?

Any idea on the channel configuration? Are they grouped by channel (so the 2 under the keyboard are channel A and next to the cpu is channel B)?
Or are they grouped AB and AB?

    Hey guys,

I have been following this thread since near its inception and from all my research I have finally decided to splurge and get the GT60 20C. I'd like if someone could assist me with a few questions that I still have regarding the unit.

    1. Now that I know that the Killer Network Cards do not come with WIDI enabled like the Intel versions, I'm curious as to whether any other piece of hardware gives this laptop that functionality(confused as to whether the Intel HD 4600 enables this) or if it is better to get the Centrino when I do place my order.

    2. In its stock form, that is without requesting any extra hard drive bays to be added or replacement of the optical drive, how would I go about upgrading to an SSD in the future? Are any of the bays that are offered, required in order for me to slot in that SSD in the future? If i do need to get an extra bay, what size would I need?

    3. I always prefer 15" Laptops for their portability but I've heard some persons say that this laptop was a lot bulkier than expected. I don't mind the extra pounds in weight but what I am worried about is whether or not it will fit into a standard laptop bag made for 15" laptops. Can anyone comment with regards to this?

    4. For those who got theirs from GenTechPC who live outside of Canada and the UK and had to pay by wire transfer, how was this process? Smooth? Did it take longer to arrive because the payment had to be processed(which usually takes a number of business days) or was it seamless and without hiccups?

Normally it's one in each group, so the second option. On my desktop there are 4 slots on each side of the CPU, each side being ABCD, for example.

I would say if you want it, get the centrino.

If you want to use the a hard drive in the ODD, you must purchase a tray, 12.7mm is the size. its also SATA3, so an SSD can go in there too.

I don't know what other users use, but me, I use a bag designed for 13' laptops, at least that what it says on the tag when I bought the bag, "fits up to 13'"..... Fits perfectly, isn't tight, my headphones, mouse and xbox controller goes too. But, most 15' bags should fit. I went to a nearby store and tested some 15' bags before I bought the 13;' bag LOL.

I live in the furthest country to the states, and I bought mine from USA. Did the wire transfer, 4 days to recieve, pretty straightforward.

    hope this helps

    1. The Intel AC 7260 (non-Centrino AFAIK) is an option for some models, which has WiDi. You need a card that supports it in addition to a processor that does.

    2. There are 2 HDD bays, if you get one you'll have the second open. See this post for details: http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi...t70-2oc-770m-owners-lounge-9.html#post9243811

    3. It's not that thick, you should be fine.

Thanks alot for your help. It sucks that the card doesn't come with a progressive feature like WiDi as I'm not willing to sacrifice network performance simply for that. I also see you did you testing with the bags before hand and its nice that it can even fit into a 13" bag so I should be fine in that regard.

To the wire transfer, is that 4 days to receive the laptop? Or, 4 days for them to receive the payment you made? Also, did they start building it the moment the order was placed or when they received payment for it?

Thanks for your reply, I'll check the link posted. Glad to hear its not as thick as people complained, certainly didn't look so in the pics. I may have to resort to hdmi exclusively then.

Anyone use an hdtv as an external monitor to play games? Any Tv's recommended for little-no input lag?

Its certainly not bulky or huge for me, or heavy. I'm not a big guy, 5'8, but I've used it on my lap on battery for hours and its not uncomfortable at all, for me that is. But, that depends on what the user considers heavy or bulky. The price/performance ratio is unbeatable for a laptop like this.

My reseller was not Gentechpc, but I think this applies for them too. I went to the bank and did the transfer using the info provided by my reseller. After 4 days, they contacted me that mine went to production. 7 days after that, it shipped. Received 9 days later, and I'm happy with my purchase and how the transaction went. Gentechpc is very reputable, they also offer some free upgrades too. email Ken, he frequents here often too. He an awesome guy, I'm sure your experience with him/gentechpc will be very good, so no worries.

I use HDMI everyday to play PES 2013 on my tv. An awesome experience! Most of the tv's now, will have no input lag. I've tested of 3 tv's via hdmi, haven't noticed any lags. For reference, I'm playing on a Sony bravia 40' at home which is good 'nuf for me. I've also played skyrim and burnout paradise too. both run at max without a hiccup. The GTX 770M stay very cool too. I've posted some temps couple of pages back, so have a look at those too.

    Hope this helps.

Yup, I saw all the temps, so I know this setup is beast in pretty much every aspect especially cooling and with the free IC Diamond repasting I should have little to no problems. Guess I just need to find the right Tv and a good hdmi cable and I'll be ready for its arrival.

A good HDTV will be awesome! I'm not so in-the-know about tv's, but the samsung and LG tv's in the shop near my home are sweet. The LG 52' HDTV is the best there. What size are you looking at? Also, be sure to get the right length on the HDMI cable. I got myself a 3m cable.

Also, anyone got a gaming MSi sticker with the notebook. I just found out that I had one....

I'm looking at a 39" or so. Saw a good LG one that I will probably get, surprise all my boyz when they turn up and see me playing, systemless without knowing its my MSI on HDMI. Cant wait.

Edit: Can anyone who has used the matrix display tell me if the audio is played back through the external device itself? Meaning if I connect my latop to my external tv and play a movie on that screen, then say, for example, play a game on my laptop, would the sound for both clash? Or would the game's sound play through the laptop speakers and the movie's sound play through the Tv's speakers?

You can choose where audio is playing using the default device or if the program can select which device to use.

For example if you can choose which audio device your movie player taps into you could have a 2nd screen playing a movie for people while you gamed with your notebook speakers.

If you have the option try and stick with a displayport monitor.

I've played games on my notebook display while hooked up to my tv via hdmi. But haven't tried playing a movie on tv while gaming on laptop. I'm going to test this today, but right now, its 5:30AM, so I'll post a while later..... yawn....

edit: Does FRAPS have a hit on fps in-games? I think skyrim is smoother when there no FRAPS running in the background.... but it maybe me being stupid and watnot...
Also, what that program I've seen some users here on NBR use to monitor fps ingame. It also shows gpu temps and I think utilization too. The text is in yellow in the left upperhand corner. I still don't know what program it is, googled somewhat. If anyone knows, please do post.

    1. Yes FRAPS will cause a hit, and sometimes it's noticeable.

Thanks I figured, will find a way around it.
That's true I understand it pretty well from organizing the playback for my headset so I should be able to configure it.

Stick with a display port monitor? Is that better than an HDTV?

Ah ok, I dont mind the TV so much as it'll be easier to accommodate the PS4 when I get it.

Hey guys, I have the GT70-2OC. The Soundblaster Cinema doesnt come installed, but on the drivers disc. Does anyone know which is the one to install? In the drivers files, there are like 5 setup files under the Soundblaster folders. One under the folder Sound Blaster Cinema EQ, another under Sound Blaster Cinema AP, another few set up folders inside subfolders in those 2 folders.

Exactly what do I install to get Sound Blaster Cinema installed?

Thanks and sorry for the newb question :)

use the auto play feature for the disk. It runs a installer that shows you what you can install. I believe cinema is under the utilities section.
