Yes thats high more like just below half load so ......

Maybe you should download MSI After Burner and clock it down wile surfing ?

Mine are as follows in a 21 degrees Celsius room:

    GPU: 43 C
CPU (average over all cores): 55 C
    HDD: 36 C
SSD: can't find it in hwmontior..

So yeah, CPU temps are fine, i7s run hawt. and gpu should be lower, but thats because of the clocks.

Simply run msi after burner and save the clock down profile so every time you boot your pc up after burner will clock your GPU down so it runs cooler.

How simple does things have to be :D.

What Bearclaw said. Fiddle around with your Catalyst controls and make sure you're idling all the way down.

    Your CPU looks fine.

Yeah, the download manager requires 32-bit OS, so I guess we can't use it.. Just check and download manually from this page. If you stick around these forums, our members are pretty good about giving others a heads up when updates are released :)

The drivers/utilities themselves indicate in the description whether or not it's for 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7. BIOS and firmware updates are of course, not OS dependent.

Strange, right now it says 100/150, but I'm just as idle now as I was then. Do my temps and everything else look okay, do you think? I'm so noobish about this stuff.

Forge, what settings in Catalyst do you suggest I take a look at regarding my clocks in case I run into further problems?

    Thanks!

i had age of empires 3 , lost intrest in it after a week.
but as ive played starcraft 1 since i was five, and since i dont have to pay vat on it seems like the only way to go.

heard mostly good thing about metro2033, except about its poor optimization

Hi everyone, my first post on the forum.
Just wanted to ask if anyone else had their GX660R (i5 460m\6GB) arrive with dual 500GB Hitachi drives instead of the WD Blue's that I was assuming would be present?

Just trying to find out how the hitachi drives compare?

I'm not complaining as I've not heard great things about the WD Blue drives.

    Cheers,
    Jas

I just reinstalled Windows for the first time on my GX660R. My objective was to get the LED Manager working again and to have just one partition. I've gotten all the drivers in place, but I'm noticing a lower FPS when I'm playing Counter-Strike: Source. I used to see it anywhere from 120 to 300, depending on the map detail. Now it won't go over 60 with the same settings. I know this is probably a shot in the dark, but does anyone have any suggestions? I've tinkered to my heart's content and haven't been able to figure it out.

I had a similar problem when I reinstalled win7. Sillyest thing fixed it. I changed the windows theme from a non-aero one to an aero one and games ran perfectly again. No idea what it changed, maybe hardware accelleration or something.

Dude playing it at 1920x1080 with most settings at high etc steady FPS never dropped unless something in the background starts happening or something happens in the game.

So far no matter what i have thrown at this beats it has really owned it all.

OH yeah and on the plus side you should hear the sound i have a 5.1 surround system at home its on par with that its amazing.

I cant explain how proud i am to own this machine i really cant explain i cant tell you the FPS but no drops at all stock clocks no turbo mode and fan mode not on.

    I'm speechless.

    Hi guys

Just another question, how would i know if my turbo boost is working? The Turbo icon and on screen shows it is on but there is no difference in my CPU speed... Sorry if i'm asking the wrong question....

    Edit:
    I checked on CPUZ
On Eco Gaming Mode : Core Speed 2.6GHz
On Turbo : Core Speed 977MHz
(Something seems wrong here! Plz Help)

If anyone could put in pic of what should happen, plz let me know

P.S. Do i need to install Intel Turbo boost? how would i know if it is installed? (if needed)

The GX660R has a Turbo button top left second button you have to press it to activate it.

Unless we are talking about something different rofl ?

Best way is to run a benchmark. Run WPrime with and without turbo. See if your results change.

The reason why you're seeing lower CPU-Z readings is because your CPU is downclocking while idle. Stress it and the clocks will rise.

Just got this laptop...holy cow! trying to find something it CAN'T do better than anything else out there within 1k of the price. amazing. If you're on the fence, its time to jump, unless you want to wait for MSI's sandy bridge version in 4 or 5 months. jeez, what a laptop.

Not sure try and clock it up and see if it makes a difference if not your laptop bios is locked.

This means no matter what you do the laptop will stay at its speed all the time unless it auto clocks down or up not sure.

TBH don't really care this baby can max anything.

Hmm. Darken, go to "Eco Off" mode and repeat the tests with and without the turbo activated. I know I get distinct results when I ran a test.

    This is my new run!

    Results of 32M
Without anything (Eco off) : 18.718
    Eco Game mode : 18.663
    Turbo On : 17.664

Will this be the result i should be expecting? If not, what result is the right result?

Apparently even tough the turbo is on, the power plan stays at "power saver" as how it was when Eco is off... maybe that is why, is it? So not i set my power plan during Eco off to "High Performance" and when i switch on Turbo, the result is better and the clock speed on CPUz goes up to 2.77 GHz at least!

Does this means my prob is solved? or is my clock speed and benchmark is still way off?

lol horrible price, even considering that it's GTX285 and not 5870.

    When it's $1300 it'll be hot considering I paid $1150 for the E7405.

More then likely going the notebook route for my next system after xmas and the GX660R has come to the top of the pile at the moment in terms of price vs performance by a fair stretch. I do have one concern though and that is display viewing angles as from what ive gathered the GX660R ant all that great on that front.. of particular concern is vertical viewing which unlike horizontal has not been mentioned. Anyone able to give some detailed feedback or even some photos on this topic ?

Thank you! That worked like a charm lol.

On a different note, has anyone experienced any gradient banding on your displays? I have it going on on both the laptop monitor and my external monitor just the same. The gradients I see just don't have the smooth transition that they should. I know my gpu is activated and I have the proper amount of colors set. Very strange! I hope it isn't a hardware issue :(

Its only a 30 sec clip as i havnt bought fraps yet. Anyhow, i get 40-45 FPS with everything cranked up, at full HD res, not bad eh??!!
Fraps dropped it to about 24Fps on the clip :)
Dont forget to watch in 1080p!

If its running fine I wouldnt worry about updating, unless you're having problems or the update is providing something you actually need.

Vid drivers is about the only thing I would keep constantly updated.
