At that price (looks like it would be 4500ish off the top of my head CAD) I could live without flash and glitz. Lol

Lol I tried. Up year you only have the options of the 044CA or the 045CA. Unless you want Alienware of clevo there isn't much in the way of boutique resellers. The best I got was a 6920HQ for 100 under a 6820HK (came to about 6200CAD) and a 20% in store discoubt towards future a purchase. Lol

A small shop I'm friend with the owner with, I'm not supposed to talk about it so I'll like to keep it under my hat.

As for the other one I could go on a long diatribe on politics and economics...but I'll keep it short and to "our dollar is kept low to keep other countries buying our stuff and bringing in jobs" lol

The only problem was getting the 6820HK requires either dealing with newegg or special ordering and dealing with the border fees.

Well the other reason why I went with this laptop and not the clevo's is because in my neighborhood ups and FedEx don't stop, they throw it out the truck and if it lands on your porch great if not oh well.

you should just camp your house out and watch for that guy who throws packages

catch him do that on video and record the plate number of vehicle, approach him and take closer picture of the vehicle ID (usually in front windshield)

I am considering buying from ibuypower at the moment because somehow I am able to customize it down to under $4200 after coupon code GEEKS, which as far as I can tell is far cheaper than anywhere else at the moment. I only have experience buying from xoticpc and I don't know if at this price it is too good to be true (for some reason by selecting a 128GB SanDisk SSD you save about 300 more than if you select no SSD at all. I might be misunderstanding something, but that's sure what it looks like). Whatever the case, if anyone has history with ibuypower, I just want to ask how reputable a vendor they are, and how they can sell this for so much cheaper than everyone else.

Talked to cyberpowerpc sales rep, they want me to shell out extra 399 for 2x330w instead if don't want the 2x230w

Very rude sales too, guess I'll avoid this company

depend on your configuration bro. two 1080 at 170w each if u dont overclock, cpu at most 50w even if u oc to 4ghz. two 230w comes to around 460w should be enough for it tbh.

to use up 2x 330w you will need to oc so high that first of all your hardware has to be really good and allow you doing that without crashing, and 2nd benching that high generally for people who like benchmark scores not practical as if u run your hardware at that level, they die sooner.

660w is a lot of room for regular use even with decent overclocking.

Wow, 100% CPU usage "problem" solved - it's a performance feature of MSI Dragon Center to improve performance - it fools the system into thinking there is high usage when there isn't - see 04:00 forward to 4:57

This feature is on other MSI laptops too... a simple toggle off.

Not sure if this affects the GT83VR... but it's worth checking out.

thats normal. a display internally inside laptop still consider a device when shutting off its thinking device is disconnected and likely connected externally. most laptop doesn't have display on/off button like desktops do.

At 1080p it should be more than enough. A single 1070 is roughly equivalent to a 980ti if I recall correctly.

Anyone here know what the trade in options are for a gt80s?

We need like an excel sheet with a different page for each country listing the different options/prices each models upgrade....and listing inconsistencies within each country....

Each time it is updated a link should be added to the post the data was taken from...

Keep this in the GT72/GT80 thread. Stop cross posting. Remember that in the end the offer is also dependent on specific model you have and apparently how much you bought it for, along with if it is damaged or not.

I don't know if anyone in the US, me included, has received anything yet.

I asked cyberpowerpc their Fangbook 4 XTREME SLI 1080 comes with some msi drivers . But it lack some of its golden aspects like Dynaudio and it has i7-6820HK rather than msi i7-6920HQ.
Ram in the fangbook is 2133Mhz and with msi it's 2400Mhz .
But they said that it's as powerful as the msi version.

I found msi gt80vr UK versions , they come with gtx 1080 sli for 4100-4500 euro including tax + shipping. Which is much cheaper than the US prices

I use the vive with my old GT80 with 980m and it works. It will be much MUCH better with the GT83VR. Remember that for the time being VR is mostly single GPU, so SLI is almost a non factor here.

Now I made my mind , I'm going for the MSI GT83VR 1080 sli.

unfortunately, they are correct. ram makes the smallest difference you'll ever feel in a computer especially a jump from 2133 and 2400, it'll never be a bottleneck for a simple quad core cpu especially on dual channel. and 6820HK is better than 6920HQ LOL

If you gave the same tuning attention to the 2x SLI 1070 as you did the single 1070 model, you would likely boost that score up as well, getting closer to 2x scaling. Same for the CPU score, they would likely match.

    http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/10205048/fs/10103246/fs/10388436

@Royalm are you still hanging around? Maybe @Johnksss@iBUYPOWER can pass on some tuning tips to improve your performance, and your Fire Strike score :D

That's the problem I face with new tech. If I don't go and do it my self or inspire others to do it.....We would never get to the bottom of things. I waited a whole month to see if anyone would push a 1070N and that does not seem to be the case. So what I get out of this is....People are satisfied with the results and thus further advancement gets put to the way side.

My laptop is a single gpu config so no tuning of sli 1070N's. This total BGA setup put those 6700k/1070N's to bed, which should not even be possible.....

So either it's user error or manufacture error in settings....

As to just regular everyday normal use. They all seem fine for that.

Reinstalled my Windows yesterday. Needless to say, I installed everything from scratch. It's still bugged. I guess it's because of the Bios (E1815IMS.104) - this is the latest version. Do you think that it could be a hardware problem? Personally, I highly doubt so.

So I hopefully get my laptop next week. i just had a few questions to anyone that has theirs already.
1st, where is the windows installation, on the nvme ssd's or the mechanical?
2nd, do we have any confirmation on if the DVD drive is sata6gb/s?
3rd, would anyone be willing to help me massage the system to the best performance?
