Except those are GTX 980m mxm cards. I'm looking specifically for GTX 980 mxm cards. Even more specifically, the GTX 980 mxm cards used in the GT80S since they have a lower TDP and are SLI capable. I tried going directly though MSI, but no luck.

The Clevo p377sm-a (and all newer Clevo notebooks) is supposed to be MXM compatible with all future mxm gpu's regardless of manufacturer provided they follow the MXM standard (no bios updates necessary). I'm looking to take advantage of that to get two desktop GTX 980 mxm cards crammed in my clevo.

None of the 980 cards conform to the MXM standard. They're all irregularly shaped. The 180W ones that Clevo is supposedly going to be putting in the P870 can do SLI, but you need an auxillary power connector for each card.

The irregular shape isn't a big concern for me. They're not so bad that a little bit of case modding won't make them physically fit. What matters is that since they're compatible with the GT80S, they follow the MXM standard from an electrical standpoint.

At least Eurocom Sky X9E which I believe to use Clevo chassis does offer 980M SLI but not 980 SLI. Don't know if short of power or room - probably power as that 980 is 200W!

I'm FINALLY getting GT80S Titan SLI-072 delivered today! I've been waiting to pull the trigger...almost grabbed a GT72 Dominator. Boy am I glad I waited for this BEAST! I've had 18.4" notebooks since their inception, Asus, Alienware, etc. but I decided to see what MSI would come up with. Damn glad I waited...love the user self-upgrade advantage for future-proofing.

Can anyone tell me where I can grab a spare battery and perhaps other decent MSI accessories please. I'm waiting for the DS300 Interceptor mouse to be released - anyone know the timeframe with that?
Lastly, is there any kind of black mouse pad without the MSI Dragon available anywhere?

It's been a while since I've posted and am new to MSI products, so any help, suggestions, or tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm just hours away from being blown away like the rest of you. Got mine for $4,529 from ExcaliburPC using Amazon. Free shipping, NO TAXES! While yes it's a steep price it beats the he'll out of an overpriced Alienware plus this BEAST is "user upgradeable". We'll see about that won't we.

Can't wait to play with my new toy BEAST!

Hm, it is a strange price you purchase, I buy my GT80S 6QF-072US for 4150$ at my local online shop.

Where did you find that??? I've looked everywhere, well obviously not, before I finally pulled the trigger, may I ask how long ago you purchased yours. Also, when we but the SLI-072 is that the 6QF Anniversary Edition or is it just another model? I'd appreciate the help - I tried funding all this before I settled on Excalibur but couldn't find a better but for the Desktop Graphics version with the 6920HQ.

    Thanks in advance!

Just called Excalibur, they'll refund the difference if your purchase was done recently. That's a $370 adjustment for me, I'd really appreciate any help getting that kind of adjustment please. Would you be willing to PM me with specifics, PLEASE?

That's not so much of a concern as the MXM slots being close enough together that you can't actually insert both, as is the case on the P870. That said, the GT80S 980s aren't much larger than the standard, so they just may work.

Exactly. I'm fairly certain they would work. My question is though, where can I buy them? MSI doesn't offer them as an upgrade kit. Do you know of any place that will sell me just the cards?

I am not sure there will be much luck finding them. The GT80S uses a particular version of the 980, so you won't find it on other vendors, let alone on the market to purchase. Since the 980 is not a new gen, it is not offered as an upgrade to current GT72 and GT80 users. You should wait for Pascal.

Because they are a custom pcb produced by MSI they are not for sale at this time so the only way to get them is from a gt80s parted. They aren't perfect but they work, I think at some point others might show up in circulation. The prob you will run into will be the heat so plan on a custom heatsink and diffuser.

I received my 3x Sandisk X400 1TB M.2 2280 SATA SSD today and popped them in. Not only did I drop one of the really tiny screws inside again but I also fought the 2TB install limit and RAID issues.

Eventually I got through it all and as usual the solutions were much simpler than what I was trying. I caused more work due to how I went about things.

Some may not consider going from dual PCIE to three SATA and "upgrade" due to the slower speeds, but going from 1.5TB across two drives to 3TB all on one is awesome if you need the space and don't want so many drives.

As I previously reported you can indeed RAID the three M.2 slots as long as they are all SATA. Or in other words the PCIE slots will work fine with SATA SSDs.

Crystalmark benchmarks aren't much above a single drive due to being do near the max SATA3 can do. In real world scenarios I'm not convinced it will be noticable dropping down from the RAID PCIe for me at least.

I have a correction on something I reported on earlier. You can indeed RAID four drives, the 3 M.2 and the 2.5 inch slots as long as they're all SATA. when I ran my initial test I must of tried it with PCIE M.2 and the 2.5 inch SATA which of course won't work. Since all for drives had to be equal I would have only been using half of my 2TB 2.5 inch so I didn't go that route.

Well I'll have three very lightly used M.2 512GB (2 PCIE and 1 SATA) for sale shortly! I will save the stock drives but won't need the three 512s.

Looks like the dragon gaming center app. Some folks don't use it. You should be able to click on it. I have it on my task bar so I never actually click the icon you pictured. The good news is you have it in the highest performance mode so it shouldn't be causing any problems. I put mine in the green mode often when just surfing, honestly it doesn't seem to do much. Temps are always good no matter what mode I put it in.

This page explains it better than I could have. You could try uninstalling it and reinstalling it if you think there is something wrong with yours. That seems odd not being able to click on it.

Does it show up in your "programs and features" (used to be called add/remove programs in control panel). If not, try reinstalling the latest version, it may even help you uninstall the old one.

    You can find it here:

Did you ever get this working? I just realized tonight when messing around that the left most icon in your screen capture (the meter that says ultimate performance) is not clickable, and not meant to be clickable. It only shows what mode you are in. Green is green, Comfort is yellow and Ultimate performance is red.

To open up dragon gaming center look at the red icon with the white dragon head on it, that is the one you click on to open it up and change things. I wasn't sure which one you were trying to click on and thought maybe you were just clicking on the wrong one.

What I did is made a shortcut to the dragon gaming center on my taskbar so I can open it up easily and quickly and change the settings. I did the same thing to SCM (system control manager) so I can make setting changes there too.

Ok I have been DLing games (about 5) and they have been going to my C drive and not my D drive The C drive has the OS on it and as yet the D drive is empty. How do I move everything I have except the OS and files that need to be there to D drive?can I drag and drop and what files new to be on C drive with the OS? I'm asking because I got a notice saying that I have less than 30% space left on C drive and that's not good. So please help

where are you downloading them from? You have to manually install or select the D drive to use it. if on Steam, you have to select on steam a new route for your games. Same for other software like Uplay, Origin etc.

The only one that doesn't work right now is with Windows Store.

Hi guys, how is your notebook at games? As for me, it's really sucks and "Desktop level" is a marketing hint. I try all new games at ultra and no one was good with 60+ FPS. My desktop with one GTX980Ti is better then GTX 980 Sli in this notebook. Maybe someone have another result?
P.S. When I play new Hitman, my GPU temperature was 80+. In the other game only CPU was hard.

It plays games very well, and surprisingly to me it runs nice and cool too compared to every other notebook I've had. If I run default fans I will see temps in the 80's on one GPU and 70s on the other, and if I run max fan it's more like 60's on one and 50's on the other. I'm used to high 80s to high 90's on gaming notebooks. 50/60's under load is awesome on a gaming laptop!

Have you used SLI before? Some games don't work well with it at all or at least by default. It takes some playing around with drivers/settings etc and worst case you may have ot run on one card.

I went from an SLI 980TI desktop setup and this notebook is similar in performance, roughly 20% lower FPS which is crazy good considering it is portable and my desktop was not.

Sometimes it is the fault of the game, like currently I am playing Far Cry Primal and the SLI scaling is just bad. Occasionally I can see it at 80%+ on both GPU's but most of the time it is 50% or less on both GPUS. Most of the time it plays better on a single GPU, but even with bad SLI scaling I just leave SLI on rather than turning it off and on everytime I play that game.

If you haven't already, try a game with known good SLI support to see how well your setup is doing (GTA5, Far Cry 4, Skyrim, were ones that support it well IIRC). Another easy thing to verify is your 3dmark Firestrike score. The benchmark support near perfect SLI support so you should see around 16k stock, and 18k+ if overclocked.

SLI game list (not sure how accurate this is, or how well they are supported though)

I suppose that your 980's are throttling because they are running "only" 30% better than my 970m's:

    http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/7956913/fs/7920836

Did you check with ThrottleStop to confirm throttling? As far as I can say they're running roughly above stock 980m's.

EDIT: Did you check your Power Settings? If you haven't already done so, switch to "Performance Mode". Hope that helps.

I think throttling in processor not video card. Result in clean version(only kaspersky+steam+msi soft) give me this http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/11317189
I try download ThrottleStop but it doesn't run just say that my CPU not supported.

I would try the following steps to ensure that your GPU's + CPU aren't hampered by heat issues: (if you haben't already done so! ;))

    - Cleaning fans + repasting -> ICD / GC Extreme / Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or considering even applying Liquid Metal TIM such as CLU / Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut / Phobya Liquid Metal

    - Run ThrottleStop for CPU to get sure CPU isn't throttling

    - Everything below 85 degrees should be okay, although I would expect not more than 70'ies from your rig given the superior cooling design of the Titan.

    - Setting "maximal Performance" in Energy Options

Even with your FS score EVERY Game should run decent on 4k, at least with ~30fps.

    - Fans is clean and I don't think that I need repasting it, notebook is new.
    - Can't run ThrottleStop
    - CPU is really hard in work and in some new games, GPU is hard too. In comfort mode(2-3 browsers+some app like teamviewer and skype) temperature is 42C for GPU and 48C for CPU.
    - In energy options set "Gaming"
P.S. ~30FPS isn't good for games, I need at least 60FPS for comfort gaming but I play not in 4k, I play at Full HD but don't have 60FPS with Ultra setup and this is really sad for notebook with 4k$+ price. As I think, problem maybe not in video card, it can be at processor. Maybe some drivers is lost, how to check it?

Another question, what the device is this? I try update drivers but this device not run correctly.

"Notebook is new" doesn't automatically mean that the paste Job was done well and what TIM was used. Just my 2 Cents.

If you play on a FHD Panel then I would expect nothing less than 60fps, tbh! Referring to your FireStrike Score it looks good, even for your CPU.

What driver version are you using? I would suggest installing different Drivers and see, if it makes a difference. 362.00 is very stable for instance where as 364.51 is not, or try the official MSI Titan Driver instead.

Last but not least, I would run MSI Afterburner with OSD mode in GPU temps and usage. If during gaming usage is fluctuating and not constantly on 99%, then it may indicating a throttling issue of some sort. If temps are high (above 80ies) it may be temp related. If not then it may be power related.

I use the last drivers 364.51, before I use 361.91 and 3dMark crash. I try now install 362.00 and check it. I need to download from nvidia drivers for desktop or 980m version? I don't see there 980mgm version.

That one looks pretty good to me. While I don't do a ton of "tweaking" my OS there are some things that will make the default scores a little different between each machine. I would say anything 15k-16k sounds fairly normal, especially if you haven't messed with any settings on anything yet (no driver or OS tweaks).

Nothing against throttlestop, but honestly for me it has not made any difference in a modern machine. I would not mess with it to try to fix whatever issue you are having. I think it will make things worse and make finding the root of the issue even harder. It helped a bunch when it first came out and the speed stepping/turboboost was newer tech.

I would suspect like others have said, either the stock paste job is bad (which is possible) or you need to try some older drivers just to see if that makes any difference.

Go back to the previous version, rerun the benchmarks, and see what happens.
