Thanks Evo, it looks like its a M2x3mm just like you mentioned. It looks like Amazon will send me 100 of them for 4.99 with free shipping on Prime. Ill pull the trigger on these and see how it goes. Also I was able to get the Prema bios installed. It turns out that there was a missing file (nvflash.exe) that wasn't getting unzipped from the .rar file. Once I got that file to unzip the bios was a snap. Did some benchmarking last night and will post in the performance thread we have.

Pals please help me with bellow 2 issues:
    1. What does that "Advanced Copper Cooling Heatsink" installed by HIDevolution really consists of?
    2. Where can I find a technical manual of disassembling etc. detailed instructions (for instance trying to find if I can remove fans for cleaning without having to repaste the video cards)?
Many thanks for your kind cooperation,
    Alex

I honestly don't know but I can tell you that I haven't seen any testing or proof of the product, it would be beneficial for them display the product and its testing results. I would ask a few more questions on this one with them and maybe you can understand really what it is. Unless I seen some proof I personally wouldn't purchase but thats just me being me.

This is the only one that I know of actually posted below. But keep in mind the GT80 was built methodically and it very easy to replace or service parts compared to a few others, all the major components are accessible by removing 2 screws to access the top panel or all the screws from the bottom cover to access all other major components (CPU, GPU, Ram). You do not have to split the chassis to access the components unlike the older AW18 which I am thankful for. In your example if you needed to clean the fans or replace them it would take all of 5 min and no risk of damaging the chassis to do so. Hopefully this helps.

The above guide shows a tolerance fit panel removed to access top cover, is this required to open top? Your comparative statement on alienware is what i seek to compare as that was annoying. I see the CPU is not removable so it is buy biggest cpu you can correct and video is MXM. The above guide suggest battery is annoying but also rarely needed to access. I could comment you cant carry a spare but I never did for my alienware anyway at 200+ a pop and another 2lbs.
How are the temps on the newest 5700 series units? My AW has probably bricked and the fact I used old deck mechanical 82 keys keyboard has me interested in this laptop.

To remove the top cover there are only two screws that you remove from the bottom (they are labeled on the bottom) then the top panel simply slides off, nothing else need be removed to access your top components. To access the bottom components you just remove the remaining screws from the bottom panel and then remove the panel. And as we all know BGA cpus are in due to the supplier and not our demand, it would just be icing on the cake to have a mobile extreme or desktop cpu in these but on the flip side the 4th and 5th gen HQ does very well and its straight forward for gaming and some benchmark testing.

There are a few submissions in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/msi-gt80-3dmark-scores-test-and-tune.773245/ on the 5th gens and should be more as people continue to join in but the 5th gen does shows some physics test improvements with less heat from the collective assumption. My 4th gen 4980 seems to be a fluke but I have no troubles and it runs very cool.

The keyboard is really a breath of fresh air, its has a great feel mechanically and the fact there is zero heat under it when gaming its just a win / win and it really makes the GT80 series.

Hey Evo, did you re paste the 4980? I don't remember, and I know that temp benefits that were reported haven't been very conclusive. I've considered sending it out to have it done on the 5950 but I'm still on the fence.

Yes I use CLU (Cool Laboratory Liquid Ultra) on the CPU and GPU's , I recorded a modest reduction in all of my tests using it and I believe its in this thread somewhere as its grown rather large. Its something I had to use on my AW18 and I have been a believer in it ever sense. Warning, it is metal paste so it must be used accurately.

So. I have run into a problem.
I reinstalled prema vbios and decided to try and overclock my gpu with +200 core and +400mhz.
My CPU -mv was set at different settings, including -100, -75 and -50 during benchmark runs

I ran Firestrike and my graphic cards kept crashing and I got this message

    Unexpected error running tests.
Workload work failed with error message: eva::d3d11::rendering::deferred_scene_renderer::render(): draw_depth_task for thread 0: File: device_context.cpp
    Line: 818
    Function: struct ID3D11CommandList *__cdecl eva::d3d11::deferred_device_context::do_finish_command_list(bool)

    Expression: native()->FinishCommandList( restore_deferred_context_state, &result): DX11 call failed [-2005270522].

Device hung due to badly formed commands.
    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG: ID3D11DeviceContext::FinishCommandList:

My drivers always crash, except for one time when I overclock my cpu to +5mv with +200core and +400mhz on gpu and I got a 14k score which is the same as if I overclocked my gpu to +135 core and +400 mhz and -75mv

    What do you guys think?
Faulty cards? If they were I think my GPU would crash on stock clock and on +135 and +400mhz.

Could I also be doing something wrong?

I am going to clean install my graphic drivers right now and see what happens

"Edit: I clean installed my drivers, without installing GeForce and I able to push pass +160 Core Clock, which was the maximum without my 980Msli crashing. So far, I can reach 170, I will keep on going in small increments of 5 until I can't get a higher score or crash again lol"

Attention all Broadwell GT80 users, do not update your RealTek card reader from the GT80 Broadwell download page on MSI.

A weird issue occurred on my Titan after the update.

I was checking my device manager and a PCI card had an error message, #28 to be exact and after looking at the Events log, it has been offline since July 4th, which is weird since I don't remember deleting it but I do remember updating my driver on that date.

I never use the card reader but I decided to investigate.

As it turns out the new driver has a bug that disables the PCI for the card reader from being recognized by the system.

If you mistakenly updated and have this issue I advise downloading the latest driver of Realtek download page or the GT80 Haswell download section on the MSI page.

And reporting this issue to MSI if you have the same issue.

Are you increasing you gpu voltage on each card as you increase your core clocks?

MSI Afterburner does not allow me to raise the Core Voltage or Power Limit.

I only used XTU to increase the CPU by +5mv for one benchmark and the score was terrible.

That is your issue, grab nvidia inspector and start increasing you voltage by small amounts to stabalize your core.

Be sure to increase both cards equally.

    Ok thanks, downloading it now.

How many increments in voltage do you recommend for +180 Core clock and +400mem? and what about voltage increase for +200core and +400mem?

I appreciate the help. I just want to try and beat your benchmark score lol :D

Not at my pc right now but to start increase with two bumps on voltage on each card and pick up where u left off. As u increase voltage so will heat so be aware.

    Many thanks EVO!
I understand that the fans can be removed without having the heatsinks displaced, thus no need to repaste them - or I might be wrong in interpreting the pictures? I really know what my cat and dust do to laptops (saw it on my Clevo PM370), therefore regular cleaning job done by myself would be great. By the way my order status says "complete" so I'm about to see the "baby". I'll keep you abreast.

My titan is dead! :( I never got a chance to really even use it. I got the new 263 model (a custom one) and it died after a few times of use. All I got to do was update windows and the drivers and run one benchmark. I went to turn it on and windows gave me an error on start up. Trying to restart led to just the keyboard and fans turning on, no display lighting. Sometimes it would post, once it fully started. Twice the keyboard lighting and fans turn on and off by themselves after pressing the power button, eventually staying on but nothing else. It's now shipping back for repair as I type. Has anyone else had this problem?

Can someone confirm if their recovery partition is on the HDD or M.2?

I finally got around to ordering a 32GB USB flash drive and I don't have a hidden recovery partition to back up.

Thanks so much for confirming. I thought I accidentally deleted it when I wiped old system files through Disk Cleanup.

I found my HDD and now making a backup on my USB.

I will also clone the partition to my Mushkin 1TB

I know that MSI had a recovery tool that pesters you to create a recovery partition on my 263. I had it create an .iso on my 1tb, it created like six iso's. When I actually pull the 128 gig m.2 drives and put in 4x 480 gig drives for the SuperRaid, I'll likely use Acronis to mirror over to the 1tb, and then mirror it back to the raid.

Yeah it pestered me too lol. Always popping up. So Annoying!

My m.2 has 4 partitions on them. 1 is the OS, the other 3 show up o n AOMEI as WinRETools 600MB(244.39MB in use) NTFS , SYSTEM 300MB (53.82MB in use) FAT32 and lastly one that is blank and has a * 128MB (0 in use)

Any of those safe to delete? and what do they contain/do?

just ordered one to replace my dead alienware m18xr2. 258 the 970s are enough for my wallet at this time. Going to stuff it to max RAM since I have 32gb of 1866 1.35v laying around and I actually need it to run my VMs. Wish the big proc came with the 970s to save some cash but the 5700 should be a big step from my 3720qm :) with one 680m
Looking forward to a machine that is easier to open and has clicky keys. I only use deck 82 cherry blacks the last 13 years now

Thanks for clearing that up for me too. I only wondered why it wasn't multi-colored but It didn't bother me because the keys light up during log in and I can easily see my keys unlike the ROG 551 I had.

I prefer the Red, it matchs my gaming mouse red LED's

I tried starting it many times both plugged in and unplugged. I even tried removing the M.2 drives. Most of the time it still would not even post. It should be arriving back to the seller today. When I find out what happened I will post. I guess at least this problem/failure must be rare because not many replies of problems here or on MSI fourms pages. I guess I got the lucky one. LOL

Yes I am accustomed to this with mech keyboards. Luckily I just found the red variant of mine, so now i have Christmas of green and red. I'll probably bring my green one to work to annoy others with. :) Next to mod my mouse.

This linked site shows the specs of the GT72 G-Sync and GT80 Titan with the new 2nd generation N1535Wireless AC with Bluetooth 4.1 but US resellers still are shipping units with the 1st generation N1525 with Bluetooth 4.0????

MSI still clearing old stock in the US?

WhatsThePoint, it's common to have different Wifi cards configured in different regions.

It's just as common for websites to have the wrong information posted in listings of new models - they mix the old and new spec's, or have completely wrong info.

The GT80 Titan SLI-263 model is listed incorrectly with dual 965m's...instead of 980m's.

They list the 1525 Wireless part, and says Bluetooth 4.1

I will find out when it arrives. :)

Hello everyone! I got a question, does anyone have a flickering situation going on with the large LED light bar above the keyboard? I noticed mine blinks/flickers at times. Might be faulty, though it is only cosmetic.
