Are you measuring the wattage with a meter? I saw Amazon had a decent looking wattage meter for like 20 bucks and thought about grabbing one.

Looking forward to seeing what the 263 can do. I'll have to find a decent walk through for installing Prima and then rolling back to stock.

Nevermind* I resolved my own issue.

Could you believe, enabling Nvidia Hairworks and V-Sync caused my FPS to fluctuate on Witcher 3? Anyone else get this issue?

So far I have everything on Ultra and 60FPS lock, with V-sync and Hairworks Off and I am getting a steady 60fps.

I get pass 80 FPS with FPS uncapped.

    On a new topic.

Any tips of lowering my CPU temps. They seem rather high.
All I know so far is adding paste and lowering the mv via XTU help. Are there any other tips?

Yes the main one that I use is a plug mounting wattage meter so its pretty handy and they aren't very expensive. The bios installs the exact same way that the MSI bios updates run, very easy. You simply disable both cards in your hardware manager then run the bat file and it will prompt and update both cards. You then re-enable the hardware and reboot and you are ready for battle as MSI would put it.

Is it updating the 980's or is it updating the motherboard (or both?) When I think bios, Im thinking motherboard posting routine. It looks like we had a link to it in the beginning of this thread that is no longer resolving. Is the bios for the 009 and the 263 the same, and do you happen to have a link?

It will be updating the 980m VGA cards only and you can see this happen as you are prompted through the dos prompts during the batch process. Your bios for each card can be verified with tools such as GPUZ and Nvidia Inspector.

I will post a link because I still see it on his website in which donations are accepted https://biosmods.wordpress.com/ please donate to continue the gift of giving and he is on this board. The bios is listed under the Clevo MXMvBios https://biosmods.wordpress.com/clevo-mxm/

    Hopefully this helps.

Those are the tips I can think of. As for witcher 3, I think I only tested up to patch 1.04 but I was running at 60fps with all ultra and hairworks ON, but vsync OFF, and 60fps caps. I only played up to the first town and fight vs guards, and my fps held nicely.

Prema's come with a self installer bat file that you can use to install in windows. Just remember to be careful when OCing, it is not for the faint of heart, and you will most likely crash due to extra power from the PSU :p

I have plans to roll back to stock vbios but I am still using Prema's because of the removed power throttle, even if i'm not OCing.

Good to know Ryz, Ive OC'd a number of machines but I havent played with the Prema vBios. Sounds like its going to be a fun experiment. Im a believer in creeping up on the OC while monitoring temps on a secondary display. Im also going to be using a pretty big laptop cooler.

Temps shouldn't been an issue, it will be Power. We have enough room tempwise to maybe even reach 1.4Ghz on the core. but power will kill off the PSU immediately hahaha :)

Even at stock, we are creeping on the power limit :p

I have found the 980M even when pushed is more frugal than the 780M was but yes it's still not easy to feed.

Hey guys some of the reviews for Titan 009s showed it coming with an MSI G series mouse. Was that review units only, or will my 263 have one as well?

Those items are the normal ones included with the GT80 models. I think the mouse, and other items I've seen in some of their videos, are promo items that change out from time to time, but not the normal items packed in with all GT80s.

I am literally staring out my window at home for UPS to bring my Titan. Santa is driving a brown truck this year.

I have had no luck trying to get the Nahimic sound software to work correctly, any tricks? It won't even open for me.

On a side note don't purchase f1 2015, save your money or buy project cars.

So my 263 arrived and I must say, first impression is that this thing is amazing. The build quality is actually much higher then I even expected, and the keyboard is a dream. I actually like the keyboard more then my Razer Black Widow. Out of the box, 13572 on Firestrike completely stock, and with some minor OC had a 14872 (screen shots to come.)

Had no issues installing XTU and playing a bit with the CPU, but when I try to install the Prema bios (cards were disabled in device manager) the dos windows are closing instantly when I run the .bat files. When I run the files from a dos shell, I'm getting an error about NVflash not being detected or something. Any ideas on that one? It looks like there are two members on here that had no issues installing Prema on the 263.

You have to do it in real DOS mode via USB flash drive but not in Windows.

Congrats, in my case of flashing all I have to disable the cards and then run the ModMe.bat files and it will take through the prompts while in windows. You will notice NVFlash.exe is called from the bat file.

That's what the instructions said for this one. I know that there are some other cards that required a boot on DOS using a flash drive but it didnt appear that was the process was the for this one.

Gratz Thrawn on your purchase. I am happy with mine, too! This keyboard is the best!

In game, I get solid 60 FPS on Witcher III, and Batman Arkham Knight; and on my BSGO, I am knocking out a solid 180 FPS with PvP engaged. This is a Dream Machine! On a good internet connection... Lovely.

OK, Driver issues seem to be the dominant topic.

    Has anyone else experienced the:

    WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

I am mid-game and I BSOD. Not fun. I don't think it is a hard-ware error, as some forums suggest, because this build is just one week old, and I have checked the over-heat issue that is reportedly the cause by hand. I am running cool and collected from my exhaust side. My GT-80 is not even breaking a sweat. On comfort mode, it is quiet and super cool to the touch, therefore it cannot be overheating. And I am still getting 180+ FPS on my game. So...

It must be driver related. I am running the drivers that came shipped on delivery. Should I be updating something? My Windows 8.1 Pro has all the latest updates. It just freezes. I did just receive my Razor Naga Mouse, but I doubt that is the cause. It is the only new addition to the rig.

    I am open to suggestions.

Gratz on your choice, Teobroad! From the thread as already posted, you might look back to page 211 at Thrawn's post. That seems to have already answered your question.

Again, I am a noob at this too. So, what do I know, but it looked good to me. AND, it has not been superseded by anything I have seen thus far.

Look back at it. If it does not answer your question, I am sure someone else will chime in with an answer.

    Edited:

So, my by bios otions are as follows, and I don't know the difference between any of them, any help would be greatly appreciated as you can see, MSI blames me for choosing the wrong option... Quote

BIOS files provided here are exclusive only for MSI-branded Notebook PCs and not compatible
with any MSI Whitebook/Whitebrand barebones. MSI takes no responsibility for any damage caused
by improper use or lack of technical expertise. Methods of update: MSI currently offers different update solutions for different models. Please choose one according to

    1. EFI BIOS Utility: If you find a ‘BIOS bin file’ and ‘text files’ after extracting the downloaded file,
please follow SOP here to update BIOS with EFI BIOS Utility.
    2. DOS Mode: If a ‘flash.bat’ file and an ‘afudos.exe’ file are found after extracting the
downloaded file, please follow SOP here to update BIOS under DOS.
For CR640/CX640/CX640MX/CX480, please refer to method 4, Winflash Mode.
    3. EFI Shell Mode: If a ‘flash.nsh’ file and an ‘afuefix64.efi’ file can be found after extracting the

I don't know what that was talking about. But, I bet that the answer to my WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR resides in there somewhere.

    Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

It's a generic procedure for all bios updates they offer on the site. The GT80 uses bios updates from the bios directly I believe.

I have a few more questions about the GT80...

Recently, I encountered an article that claimed the 4 pin power adapter on it is prone to damage - is this true?

    Also, how is MSI warranty?

Do the new models still have haptic feedback in the Trackpads?

    Thanks,
    Mason

Guys quick question. My numpad button no longer works. Trackpad is working fine but refuses to switch to numlock mode. I am guessing its softwarte related so any idea how to reset it? Where does MSI keep the software related to their numpad?

Edit: nevermind guys, turns out the synaptic driver was going haywire, did a reinstall and its all good.

It's my understanding that the touch feedback was removed permanently. With that being said there is a hole and open plug for the haptic motor on my 009 model. Looks like something out of a cell phone would work if u could find the right size plug and motor.

I believe one guy reported it worked fine after finding the right parts.

As for your other question please clearify what you mean by "power back".

Ok- because I read it was a four prong adaptor and if twisted or tanked it can easily be damaged...

Also resellers claim it has a 9-cell battery but the MSI website says it's an 8-cell...

Hey, quick question - Is there any hotkey to turn off the display? On my old Asus gaming laptops you could hit something like Fn+F7 and the display would turn off but the computer would still be awake. The best I can find is to create a custom power option for the display to turn off after 1minute, but no actual button to turn off the display. Anyone know?

    Congrats! Welcome to the club

I get this from the MSI forum,

*right click on the synaptic touch pad icon in bottom right near time
    *pointing device properties
    *device settings tab up top
*click device settings button near middle on the right hand side
*on the new screen there's a menu on the left, in that menu
    *open 'Tapping'
*then click tap zones and enable it
*then you can change the zones if you like, however, what I've done is disabled top right, bottom left and *right and just enabled top left

It help me out when I numpad wouldn'y function on me. Just posting for future reference.

Is the battery a 9 cell or 8 cell? Resellers claim it's a 9 cell while MSI's website lists it as an 8-cell...

It can be a combination of 9-cell of lower capacity, or 8-cell of higher capacity cells.
You can use AIDA64 to verify the designed capacity and actual capacity.

Yes but then I noticed that in a recent bios posted by MSI they lowered the shutdown temp back to 100c so currently I don't think there is any benefit which is a bummer. I would be nice to see that the thermal throttle point was raised but they seem to run cooler so I haven't seen anyone get to that point on here just yet.

GTVEVO, shutdown temp? AFAIK, the thermal throttling starts at 93c for the 4xxx CPU's, are you saying the throttling temp is now 100c? At what temp does the CPU throttle?

Most machines have a thermal throttle limit and a shutdown limit, this way if the thermal throttle does not reduce temps quickly enough or if a hardware problem and temps continue to climb as soon as 100c is detected the system will power off completely too save its self. As Intel states the max temp of 4th gen is 100c and 5th gen is 105c but both GT80 versions are set with this shutdown safeguard at 100c in the bios according to the release notes. As for thermal throttling the 4th gen starts at 93c but I am unsure on the 5th gen but I suspect it will most likely be the same since they set the shutdown temp is the same. Soon I expect someone to push the envelope enough with the 5th gen to make it show up and hopefully they will post so we can confirm.

This was a bit frustrating for me too, I called MSI and they will send you the screws but then charge you 10 dollars to ship them and then once I received them only one fit. Because of this I stripped apart a recycled ACER laptop and found a bunch that work. If I remember correctly I believe they are size m2 x 3mm which is common for the m.2, hopefully someone can confirm with me.

Possibly if you can't find any to try locally.
