How are you measuring VRAM temperatures?

In hwmonitor and gpuz. But it's a 2080 super and no optimus here, may be that's different on older models.

I bought this laptop in second hand and it had a rma in the past. Msi did a really bad job during the service. It was overheating and they inverted the fans -_-

I changed the thermal paste and the temperature dropped 20°C

GPU-Z works, thanks. I thought mobile VRAM temperatures just weren't available.

    Hey everyone,

I'm new here and come from Germany.
    I have a 10sgs.
Sadly I've ripped my 10900k while relidding because of wrong parts from rockitcool. :(
So I've bought the 11900k which was a bad decision anyway I think..

Does somebody know anything about a bios update to support the 11gen?

I've updated it just now to the .109 vers.

    Thank you!

The GT76 is EOL. And they won't spend time and money validate 11th gen Cpu's that have features this model don't support.

I agree, don't think they will support new cpu. Not a big concern as 11th gen is not better.

But sad it's already eol when they finally take the good decision to remove Optimus

I think the GT76 and 51m will make a comeback at CES 2023, or at least their reimagined replacements.

There's no way MSI and Alienware abandon desktop replacements, a pandemic year with underwhelming Ampere (given that the 200W 2080 is as fast) just wasn't the right period to push out models.

Why you think so? Not what the Intel guy say in the YouTube video in the link below. Thinner gamingbooks is on the raise. He said in short that two power adapters and thick design is something from the past. Welcome to the future of gamingbooks.

And if you have followed the notebook sales in the pandemic year... The OEM sell more than ever

Hello everyone! Just wanna ask everyone who has GT76 with i7 10700k and rtx2070super. Is it really a good idea to think about buying one in 2021? Its an amazing machine, but is it really worth the price? I'm taking about a used one? whats gonna be a good deal? Im owning GT73 with i7 7820hk and gtx1070 its and old soldier but till this day im enjoying using it. It is a good ideal to look at GT76 that i mentioned before or for exmple to look at gt75 with rtx2080 will be a better option or maybe just skip it for now and wait for the new GT series? Please share your thought

The new generation GT76 will be too expensive. GT75 and 2080 is the best option :)

Depends on how what type of games you play and how much of a hurry you are in to upgrade. Also, how much do these used laptops cost?

I'm not expecting a new GT series for another year btw.

The new models might have a bottle neck with power issue limits. The current gt76 series carries a 2 x 230 watt power brick setup. The i9 10900k cpu can pull over 200 watts. The RTX 2070 super will pull a huge amount of wattage to but not the current 30 series (only 95 watts) with only small power bricks supplied in 2021 models of MSI NB.

Hello. I have bought msi gt76: intel i9 10900k+ rtx2080super. After tests firestrike 3dmark I have a result 22800 total and about 26000 graphics. My previous laptop was asus rog g703gx i7 8750h+ rtx2080. Graphics was 28500. Why can be so big difference? About 2500 graphics? What is a problem? Do you have the same results on you gt76? Maximum +170/+158 overclock rtx2080 on gt76, then results of graphics increases but total results and results of processor decrease.

Also i have very strange things with ddr4. It is 3200mhz 4x8=32gb, but works on 2667mhz. If i change it in bios, it works like 3200mhz, but total results firestrike decreases. Very strange.

The owners of 300hz panel on GT76, please share your thoughts about this screen? What’s the model of this screen? Is it true IPS or it is TN(ips level) ?

I got the laptop with some mediocre 3200mhz ram also and they run 2667 by default (Not what MSI claims on the website). I replaced them with lower frequency ram with better timings.

If you firestrike score decreases, there is probably something wrong with your timings

    Hi All,
So i am the lazy guy here... and though I noticed that some of you (many of you!!) had the same power delivery issue on the GT76 as me, I haven't had courage to go through and read all related posts about it.

So in the end what is the origin of the problem here? is it the final part that connects the two power bricks to the laptop with this shi..y usb-like shaped port? seriously, it's like they did it on purpose on a model this expensive!! the thing hardly stays connected in if you move your laptop a bit on the table, what kind of engineering is this I'm asking you..??!!

So what are the good solutions here? should I be reaching MSI customer service and try have this specific part replaced? is it going to really solve the issue?
Should are directly replace the two power packs and buy the "Eurocom" thing I've read about here?
Isn't it something that MSI will or has already solved through a software update?

So far the best that has worked is "simply" plug the connector upside down and this way with this angle it seems to work for the rest of the session.. But again, how serious can such a workaround be???

Please give me hope and tell me what the best solution is :)))
    Peace!! ;)

If the power converter attachment doesn't allow the laptop to charge it needs to be replaced. Since I had the replacement I did notice and did intentionally make sure the adapter sat properly with the socket. Best email MSI and ask for a RMA your whole laptop back to MSI. Most countries MSI services have a courier that comes and picks up laptop and returns it in possibly 2 week period.

    Thanks for the reply.
To make sure we understand each other what I am experiencing is not an issue to charge the battery, rather that the charging of the laptop goes on and off while playing intensive games which basically makes it unplayable at all.
I believe it is a false design of the two rectifiers that are not powerful enough for this device, or the socket which does not allow proper contact matching or both.

Have you noticed the same issue again since you had the socket replaced by MSI? so you are still obliged to be extremely carefull when handling the cable or the laptop while playing? what a pitty..!

Again, what king of poor engineering is that? First time buying an MSI, I switched from an ASUS ROG G750JW from 2013 which hardly costed one fifth on the GT76, and was of a far better quality than the MSI. First the chassis was of a much better quality of the material, not just plastic. Then there were buttons to switch off the screen, the backlighting of the keyboard was fading away when idle, which was smart and power saving, more importantly the keyboard layout was muh better too. And it was very silent.
I know performances have greatly increased since then, but quality of construction has really decreased on the other hand which feels unacceptable for such a price!
Think I am not buying MSI again ever.

The issue is indeed the junction connector that actually plugs into the laptop.

I ended up buying the Eurocom adapter because MSI designed the worst charger I've ever used in my life. Once I started using that the laptop was beautiful, until my GPU died.

Sad to hear your 2080 died. Does the laptop still work with Optimus? Or does the dead GPU make the whole thing unusable?

It still functions with the integrated GPU, yes. I'm using it for work while I decide what to do about it. The out of warranty repair is probably some stupid $1000 or more cost, so I don't feel like wasting my money sending it in to MSI.

Out of curiosity, how is the 2080 behaving? Does it show up in device manager? If it's artifacting, have you tried downclocking or delivering more voltage?

Gt76 has definitely the best cooling and performance I had on a laptop.

But it's also definitely not the best laptop I had. Gt75 was better for the price for example.

I have the issue with the power too...

    Hello everyone ,,

I was searching about (msi gt76 dt 9sg titan) power supply issue ,, and finally I got answers here

I had the same issue while playing games screen is flickering and power went off-on

now should I buy (eurocom power supply) or just buying the plug part from them and keep the same ac adapter ?

I bought my laptop before 9 months ago and this was the biggest issue for now ..
please note : I was trying to contact msi support but there is no feedback from them .

I hear that someone gpu dead is that because of eurocom supply or something else?

    thank you all

I hear you, but with the GPU soldered to the mobo my assumption has been that the motherboard replacement will be extremely pricy.

I do need to bite the bullet and send it in, but it's hard when I use the laptop for work, and the charging port on my backup laptop just stopped working.

I heard a sound like a USB device disconnecting, and was confused about why that happened. I then booted up Cyberpunk 2077 and it was running at 1-3fps in the intro movie, which told me it was obviously running on the Intel card.

I tried to open the Nvidia Control Panel and couldn't because it had disappeared, checked Device Manager and the 2080 was gone. Tried reinstalling the Nvidia Driver and it reported no compatible hardware detected.

From Eurocom, you would need to buy both the 750W power supply and the GT76 cable they made specifically for it.

And no the PSU is not what killed my GPU, I had been using it with no issues for many months before this failure happed.

I will buy it then , but why would msi not give us all a compensation or any solution for what they did to us now we are maybe 4 people had the same issue .. we should mention them to see and take action .

I don't know, you could push the issue and see if they will replace the PSU kit for you, or just replace the one part.

I just like the Eurocom unit and likely would have purchased it even if I didn't have a technical problem with the MSI parts. Having one big unit instead of two is just better, plus it doesn't come unplugged constantly.

Wanna ask ppl who has all 3 slots used for ssd's. Whats your higest temps? The cooling for ssd area is really poor :( After using gt73 for years with massive heatsink for ssd's the "heatsink" for gt76 looking like some kind of joke... The one ssd that placed down there on the middle is really getting hot. My the temperature sometimes reaching 68 degrees.

    Exactly.
I hae check temps and in my GT72s the two Nvme PCie ssd's are running at a very low 38 C but the GT76 they run as hot as the whole system which means 80 + C temps sometimes.

the one thing that really bother me is that max tems for those ssd's that I have from factory should be max 70C... after the chance that controller will be burned is very high. Ill try to do some cooling mods with coppers. Those days they making laptops just to make sure it will stay alive the warranty period, and after if something will happen they will tell you that better option is to get a new product :(

""polyethylene soft foam"" or I use something similar in my laptop and PC

    good luck

    Hey man,

I measured the temperature of my ssd for a few hours. Mine doesn't go over 70°C. I use a notepal u3 plus with all the fans blowing air in the lower part of the grid. Those SSD throttle down when they are too hot so, I don't think it will be an issue.
If you want to lower the temp, you could use something like that and fix it to the Aluminum : https://www.amazon.fr/Aluminium-Dissipateur-2Pack-Kalolary-dissipateur-refroidissement/dp/B07K9MF25F/ref=sr_1_7?__mk_fr_FR=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=ssd+cooling&qid=1624880031&sr=8-7

Edit : You could also probably get rid of the aluminum piece and replace it with the cooler

    Hi guys,
    1. Has anyone figured out how to wake the GT76 from sleep using the built-in SteelSeries keyboard, or an external keyboard, or even the mouse?
It is a setting adjust in the SteelSeries app? Or rather a Windows setting?

Or is it just another one of these glaring defects of the product? ;)

    2. Appart from this, I have the GT76 10SGS-005FR, which is equipped only a 60Hz screen. I am considering buying an external screen with a higher refresh rate for gaming: do you confirm it is a good option, and that the laptop is able to deliver the right video output to benefit from the higher frequency of the external screen? Should I be using the Mini Display Port, the HDMI or the usb C Thunderbolt 3 port of the laptop to do so? will any of these port deliver the same output video signal?

Any other advice for buying an external gaming screen?

    3. Coming back on the power delivery issue of the native MSI power adaptors, for those who invested in the Eurocom 750W power PSU, are you satisfied with it? Especially, is the rectangular male plug fitting steadily in the female plug on the laptop side, or is it the same as with the native plug, meaning it is very unreliable?
I really believe the issue comes from this plug, the very end of the cable, that doesn't stay in place in the female plug on the laptop.

    Thanks all for your feedbacks!

    1. I've been buying gaming laptops since 2005, and have never seen one that could be awakened by anything but pressing the power button.

    2. Sure, external monitors are great. You'd want to use the Displayport.

    3. The Eurocom adapter is awesome, I considered it an amazing decision that greatly improved my experience with the laptop. The Eurocom plug fits the GT76 female snugly and almost never comes out accidentally, unlike MSI's joke of a power delivery system.

    1. I use Wake-on-Lan (I use external monitors so saves having to open the laptop.

    2. Use the TB3 (left side) and mini-DP (right side) ports. I run 2x144Hz monitors off of these

    3. I've considered it but never purchased it. The stock PSUs are manufactured by Delta and are very high quality. Nobody (to my knowledge) has ever properly reviewed the Eurocom PSU. There were concerns posted on this forum (forget where) about ripple measurements in the Eurocom. Unless my splitter fails (others have on this forum, but mine is fine), I don't think I'll try it.

IMO, the Eurocom power supply is great but make way too much noise when the laptop is under light load (not the fans but a kind of coil wine)
