So I just noticed that Newegg has the same Intell 600p disk on sale for $79.00. This seems like a good opportunity to get it to set up a raid 0. Is it worth it to got through the hassle of setting it up? What benefit would I get?

It may be related to the version of the driver. DDU clean it in Safe mode, after downloading the latest from Nvidia's site.
So far it's mostly been a software problem. Those issues plaqued Windows 8 as well, Windows 8.1 has had that issue fixed for a long time.
Windows 10 gets lots of fun bugs everytime there is a new update, this is one of the ones that keeps coming back...DukeCLR likes this. -
You might be buying yourself trouble with new hardware... -
Getting rid of hibernation disables Fast Startup as it depends on hibernation to work - and it also gets rid of Fast Shutdown - pseudo shutdown which is the problem you were having.
Nice side benefit is you get back the space taken by hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys in C:\ for me that was 64GB on a 256GB RAID0. -
A slight off topic question; when performing a factory reset it asks which drive to store the OS and which to store the recovery partition.
Am I right in assuming the primary SSD is for the OS then the recovery partition should be stored on the secondary? I tried a restore keeping both on the same drive and it kind of broke my raid, reducing the drive capacity to 256GB (should be 512).hmscott likes this. -

A corsair vengeance ddr4 3000mhz ram would work on this motherboard, right? Probably have to change it to 3000 in the bios, which is no big deal. Just making sure it can utilize that speed without any problems.

I haven't gone through the whole thread, so I'm not sure if this has already been discussed, but has anyone tested performance of the GT73VR (6820HK & 1070 ideally) on battery? I realise it's going to be lower than when running on mains, however I've seen reports of someone who tested and found their GPU memory clock was restricted to 810 MHz on battery, which seems like a driver issue, but this was with both 369.02 and 375.95, neither of which should be affected by the 375.86 GPU memory issue.
As a result their fire strike score drops from 17,000 to 4,000 on battery, much lower than expected for battery performance (and lower than other laptops; eg, AW15R3 gets ~12,000 on battery). -

EDIT;
Yeah performance is awful on battery. GPU clock doesn't pass 810MHZ as you mentioned.Last edited: Nov 21, 2016Atma likes this. -

I'm considering purchasing this laptop, however I'll be doing a lot of gaming on battery, so if the performance really is crippled on battery then I'll have to look elsewhere... Definitely seems like a bug though. -

I honestly don't know how long of a session you expect playing on a battery, how long do other gaming laptops play on battery?
You may want ot look at the power settings in windows, there are power setting that apply when on battery power, if you were to disable those maybe those limitation wouldn't happen. -
This why i am asking, not sure about viewing angle

I would look at the windows power options and see if there is something there to help you. Let us know what you discover.

does msi sell directly?
my first choice, the AW 17 has decided to only sell their 1080 with a QHD screen.
so the only other good 4k screen laptop is the GT73, but im not really a fan of the the asethetics. alienware also has all their models discounted.
was hoping to get the gt 73 a bit cheaper for black friday?hmscott likes this. -
I have a quick question for anyone that bought a GT73VR from Hidevolution, did it come with a TPM?

A lot of resellers don't offer their own financing, but you can do PayPal Credit as an alternative. -
I'm currently having 2 issues with my new GT73 (with GX1070).
Issue 1: Battery is discharging way too much when powered down and unplugged. It discharged to 68% within 12 days. Someone else reported it discharging to 78% in 7 days.
Issue 2: See my question to the MSI reps. I just can't get my head around the question why hybrid power is still here sucking our batteries instead of just using all the power the ac adapters can provide. Those are specced for 230 Watt output... even with 10% reserve thats still way more than the 180Watt the firmware seems to be actually allowing...Last edited: Nov 22, 2016 -

Ibuypower seems to have some deals going although I haven't bought anything from them in years but it may be a choice. They have the GT73VR w/ 1070/6820hk starting at 1799$ and the 4k GTX 1080/6820hk starting at 2499$ also the GT83VR w/ SLI 1070/6820hk starting at 2599$.

Got my laptop 1 day early!
Took the #1 spot for people with 1070 SLI notebooks in both Firestrike & TimeSpy.
I'm going to tweak the CPU, RAM and GPU further to see how far she'll go, only spent about 45 minutes on it but so far so good (not using Dragon Center).

GT72VR upgraded from a 1060 to a 1070 for $1609. then take 5% off for $1528 and then a $200 mail in rebate = $1328 TOTAL for the base model, which is very cheap for what you're getting.
The GT73VR w/1070 is $1,799.00 with 5% discount = $1709, also a good price.
I'm interested in both, they both have come down in price but I'm having a hard time justifying the extra $1709 - $1328 = $381 for the somewhat better system. So I think for myself I'm going to go with the 72VR and save the cash for next time. If it was the initial difference of $100 I would go with the 73VR and not look back but $381 is a nice chunk.Tyresian, Atma, DukeCLR and 1 other person like this. -
I did another run in sport mode. I got a higher score than I did in Turbo. I think that Dragon Center may not be working at all. I also noticed that the GPU temps were getting into the 80's during the test with fans on auto.

Hi, i got my GT73VR 6RE (single gtx1070, 120mhz 5 ms version). 3 weeks ago on the 02.11.2016.
At the beggining sorry for my english i know it isn't perfect!
I want to describe my problems with this model.
At start i made clean install because windows wasn't in my language (notebook bought in deutschland), made all updates, drivers etc etc.
It looked rly nice, fast booting around 12 seconds, under 1 sec to pop up chrome.
But then i bought Civilization VI and suddenly problems started. I set setting on max but sometimes screens turned back, then switched to desktop and again to black screen, then back to game but with max 30 fps (WOOT! 3k euro and black screen?!).
Ok let's move on... CIV: Beyong Earth... the same problems.
Guild Wars 2 - this game was rly strange... ofc max settings around 90 fps but after few seconds in game (not minutes but second!) vertical (proper word?) green lines, black screen, desktop, green lines and so on... over and over till alt +f4 and game is closed.
League of Legends - max settings over 500 fps on ARAM map and again black screen (this time without green lines only black screen) back to game but again with only 30-60 fps and freezing screen. I thought maybe LoL need constant fps... tuned on v-sync same problem, turned off g-sync same problem, v-sync off g-sync off same problem.
Overwatch max setting max fps set to 120. Looked rly nice... all day without any problems. I started thinking about drivers. I've changed drivers for few other version but problems described above still existed. And then suddenly on the next day Overwatch crashed. JESUS!!!
Once again clean install windows 10, this time no games, no software like antivirus etc, just clean windows 10 with all updates and drives/utilitiles form MSI.
3d mark - 1st time full test ok, 2nd time crash
Unigine Heaven - never crashed
GPU-Z stress test - never crashed
Now funny thing... Prime95 FFS test, after 10 sec CPU temp 90 C ! 15-20 sec of test notebook turned off becasue temp reached 100 C! Ok then wanted to try again... same thing... 100 C notebook turned off.
Time for normal test in Prime95... this time it looked better... 100 C after 20-30 min in test. But this turned off.
After test in Prime95 i sent back notebook to the shop.
Forgot to mention that i made every test/game test etc always in Turbo Mode then Sport Mode.
Always after black screen in games i had to restart Dragon Center i even thought its his fault, but even when i uninstalled it problems still existed.
Once again sorry for my bad english but i want ppl with similar problems to know that they are not alone becasue there are only few informations about problem in the internet. Most of the posts are reviewes.

I had a similar problem to what you are showing in your video but with me it was when playing battlefield 1.
Someone suggested updating nvidia drivers using the custom>clean installation method. Since doing it this way, I haven't had a problem since.
Your temps do seem a little high, have you updated the EC? Check that your fans are actually spinning up by looking at the RPM in the dragon control center. -

But like i wrote it was only few second from 40-50 C idle temp to 100 C. Just clicked start, loud noise from FANS and notebook turned off.Click to expand...
