So has anyone found out if w10 has full support for the hardware and software in the 2OD's yet?

So if I upgrade from either my 8.1 partition to 10, I won't have any issues? They fixed the problems? Or do you think I can snag the 10 pro from my 7 pro and have it replace my 8.1?

No, just running stock. 3DMark11 isn't always crashing. It just sometimes goes back to desktop after running one of the tests. It says please wait and looks like it is loading the next test, but it just sits there indefinitely and doesn't load. I just tried with 400 mem settings and same thing.

I also ran a test with 200 mem and I got to Graphics Test 4 before it crashed to desktop telling me the Nvidia display driver stopped working.

Running W10 (clean install) on my GT70-2OC (pretty much the same system). There are solutions to all the (minor) problems that were encountered.

I get asked alot if my cards work in this specific laptop. YES is the answer, yes they work and they work great in fact (Not just my cards - but always tell the vendor your buying from to make sure it has a MSI vbios, that will eliminate throttling or add extra performance, basically) .
Basically any MXM 3.0B card will work in these very well, MSI obviously worked with nVidia to make sure as long as you have a recent bios for your system and keep everything hardware wise relatively up to date, you can install drivers directly from nVidia (Unlike with DELL/Alienware where we need modified drivers and our own aftermarket support)

Hope I didn't contribute to necrothreading if this thread is too old. But it is still relevant IMO.

I have a question... I've looked all over the internet for the answer but half of the people say yes and the other half no...

Can I use the mini DP 1.2 port to power two 1080p displays? I don't care about refresh rate. Also, can I do that and add HDMI for three total displays?

I ask because I can't stand VGA and want it all to be through the nvidia gpu.

    Thanks!

Some kind of hub/repeater should work. If you use a "splitter," you might not be able to achieve 1080p, but a hub that is designed to amplify the video signal should work - although I don't know about any that tout HDMI + mDP on one device.

Most DP monitors will have a DP-in and a DP-out. DP 1.2 should be sufficient for 1080P on two monitors. Whether the video card can deal with four digital displays or not (2 x DP + 1 HDMI + built-in laptop monitor) is a different question. I'd be dragging my laptop to a local Microcenter and find a helpful salesman. :)

    Hi

I've currently got an MSI 2QD and I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card, currently I've got an Nvidia GTX 970 3GB card in there but looking to upgrade to a Nvidia GTX 980 8GB Card - can someone advise me if it is just a simple case of plugging the new card in and downloading the official Nvidia drivers and it working straight away or is there any mods to the drivers that I need to be aware of?

If someone could let me know as soon as possible that would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Cam

Probably nothing definitive here until someone has one to test. Have you tried reaching out to MSI support? Not sure whether they can confirm yet or not either, but it's worth a quick phone call or email.

I honestly think that if we are upgrading 2ODs to 1080s, we would need a better cpu to support it. Bottleneck reasons

Problem. Tried updating 780m to latest driver today which is 368.22 so I could play forza 6 apex. And I got these messages:

"the nvidia graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows.
This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"

I recently upgraded my 8.1 partition to 10 earlier today also.

Nah, even a 4700MQ is more than enough to give you excellent performance. Sure your framerate won't be the max possible compared to having a 4.5ghz skylake CPU, but you won't be hindered as if having a low end AMD CPU.

    It's still a while before a 4th gen core i7 actually bottlenecks a game.

Perhaps you inadvertently downloaded the desktop drivers?

    Try these: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/102999/en-us

And ryzeki is correct...it will be a long while still till the 4700MQ ends up being the bottleneck in graphics performance.

I managed to fix it. Oddly enough I had best results from an automatic scan of the drivers from the site compared to GeForce experience and just looking for the drivers on the site

Try to start fresh with win10. I have mine upgraded from 8.1 and it's causing me problems with nvidia drivers. I turn off the pc and it restarts or sometimes it gets stuck with a black screen and the orange dGPU LED on. A forced shut down is needed after that.
I should move to win7 but I'm lazy lately and can't afford to reinstall some work related software right now..

Hey guys I'm having a problem with HDMI output here. Please help.

Months ago, I fried my nvidia discrete GPU inside my GT70-2OD so I went ahead and removed it. Flashed unlocked BIOS, set primary graphics to IGFX. Everything worked fine without the card.
But yesterday when I tried to hook up an external monitor via HDMI output, I got no signal from it, nor did windows recognize the monitor.
I did some googling and found that HDMIs on GT70s are directly routed to the discrete card.
And I tried playing with BIOS graphics settings including setting the boot graphics to EFP, EFP2, EFP3 with no luck.

Does that mean I can't use the HDMI on my GT70 without a discrete graphics card?

    Thanks!

I have an MSI MS-1763 GT70 20D whitebook with a power button that doesn't work.

Using a meter, current can be detected on all buttons except the power button.

Is there a fix for this ?

Or does the entire power panel have to be replaced ?

If so, where can I buy one ?

That's a function from a MSI utility called SCM, did you install it? If not, install it, reboot the system, and try again.

As for the video issue: Reinstall/update your video driver, video codecs, and runtimes (Flash, Shockwave, Silverlight, etc.). Regarding the other thing, you can try updating your BIOS, but there's no official Win 10 support from MSI on this system; that could be why it's not working.

My Touch Panel (Media / Turbo Fan / KLM / Flight Mode / Turn Screen Off / Gaming Center buttons) randomly stopped working today. (I am on the latest Win10 Anniversary update)
I tried reinstalling SCM, KLM and even Dragon Gaming Center and restarting many times to no avail.

Removing the power/battery and putting it back after half a minute fixed the problem for me. If that doesn't work either, re-flashing your EC Firmware seems to be the last straw. (No one knows why but it seems that worked for some.)

Also I am using this method to change what the "Media" button does.

Are you running your video players with the Nvidia gpu?

I've recently re-imaged my rig, but for some reason the touchpad won't scroll when sliding fingers down the right hand side. I've got the latest driver from MSI website and checked that the scroll setting is enabled. Any ideas?
