Thanks for replying, I have played with the sound blaster cinema app, however there is no option for equalizer.

I also have found an app called: Sound Blaster Cinema EQ

I tried to install it, but nothing seemed to happen. Is there any other option? Thanks for your attention.

Hello everyone :) Recently purchased a GT70-2OD 001US and have learned a lot from reading this thread, but I do have a question.

To keep things simple, and less expensive, I ordered two additional Sandisk X110 128gb msata drives to add. The one currently in the laptop is a model SD6SF1M-128G and the two I just received are SD6SF1M-128G-1022. Don't know what the 1022 means, but it was what everyone had for sale and all I could find.

Will they all three work together ok in a RAID setup?

OH, very interesting with the new Hybrid Power. Now the Hybrid Power seems to be active full time when booted up. No longer seems to toggle "on demand".

I've also notices some changes with GPU-Z data with Kombustor.
    Capture.PNG

The "PerfCap Reason" used to be "PWR" 100% of the time while active, now it's intermittent.
    Also, I've never understood why Kombustor doesn't use full power when everything else does >.>;

I am out of ideas. My ipad keeps reconnecting and disconneting. Same with my usb 3 external HDD (seagate). I have tried updating drivers, updating windows and also reinstalling windows. What is the problem? Mouse, usb 2 HDD and thumdrives work ok. Do I need to send this to MSI? I am from Malaysia.

There seems to be no link to the usb 3 driver.. I've tried manually searching the net. Still have no luck. If it was hardware related, other usb devices shouldn't be able to work. I hope it's software related..

It does in beta form. You can message UncleWeb and ask for a beta version and it will have Haswell support. Although it doesn't really work for me. Just download Intel XTU version 3.2 if you're looking to overclock.

All good now. Thanks Quokka. I had to go to the "Manage 3D Settings" section on left hand pane, followed by "Program Settings" tab in the main windows. From there you can tweak each individual application. I now have zero tearing on Bioshock. It's running like a dream :)

Another question for anyone else who is using Afterburner: Every time I reboot the PC and open Aftertburner to load the profile I saved, it doesn't change the clock settings. I load the profile and it says "Profile 1 loaded", but the clock MHz level doesn't load to what I saved on the slider bars. Any thoughts?

Afterburner doesn't support mobile cards. It's pure luck if it works (as it does for my 680M).

Msi Afterburner can get tricky at times. If you don't want to tweak your settings each time you open it, I would recommend to use nvidia inspector instead. It is a little less attractive but also very useful.

Has anyone tried setting up Bitlocker on this thing?

I just took delivery of a 2OD-040US with the 3x120GB SSD and 1TB 5400. I upgraded to Win8 Pro and tried to enable Bitlocker on either drive and I get the same error...

"The request could not be performed because of an I/O error"

    Any clues why?

    Hey guys,

So I'm going to be getting my GT70 tomorrow. This is my very first laptop so I'm unsure what I should all do when I first get it. All I know is to get the latest 780m graphics drivers from the nvidia website, but what else should I be doing to ensure my Laptops in tip-top shape or what not?

    Advice greatly appreciated!

try to test every function of your notebook! Test everything!
to try out the hardware: install 3dMark Vantage..should get you between 25000 and 26000 Points on stock. And watch your temps (with HWMonitor).

AAAnd: check what type of SSD you got (in Device Manager)...a Sandisk or a Plextor? :)

    Hi Ukoyries,

Is your fan whine like this: MSI GT70 2OD Fan Noise - YouTube

I've just sent mine off to MSI for Repair under RMA (they use D&J Henry in Coventry)

I'm hoping they replace it under warranty, as it wasn't like this when purchased. Its a very annoying noise over an extended period.

    Cheers

    Richard

Well, not having any more time to troubleshoot this problem I ended up just going with TrueCrypt instead, which actually will work out just fine as I wasn't interested in encrypting the entire C drive anyway and TC will allow you to just host an encrypted "container" within the volume versus a whole volume.

I'm still curious why Bitlocker has refused to encrypt either volume though.

Hey everyone! I'm a proud owner of one of these fantastic machines (019US model) and i've been lurking this thread for the last month and a half and decided to post.

so far my machine is running great, but I'm currently running the 311.48 driver for my 780m GPU, and noticed that their are several more recent drivers available on Nvidia.com for this GPU. However i'm being told that I need to download GPU driver's directly from the manufacturer, MSi. So i'm not really having any problems with the current driver, especially since i've OC'd my GPU, using MSi's Afterburner, to about a 950 clock speed. Should I download the more recent Drivers from Nvidia, or stick with the 311.48? and if I do should I reduce my OC down to default when I do?

    Thanks in Advance.

can some one explain what Raid 2 does? Dragon Edition 2

So you get 3 128 SSD drive and one 1Tb drive. Is the OS goes on the first 128 SSD? the other two 128 SSD is for installing games on it so the game can load faster? what happen if both SSD is full of games and you install it on the
1TB drive does the game load slower?

I wonder why would you need to overclock a GTX 780m. Anyway, only latest beta drivers from Nvidia' web page work. I chose not to use stock MSI driver, because if you look into driver's release highlights, you'll see that many performance improvements have been achieved with the new driver for the 7XX cards since 311.83 (latest MSI offers).

Congrats on your new gaming machine, & welcome

Noticed something with my 1 week old GT70-20D, which I'm not sure if its a problem. Usually when in windows, after a period of time (hard to judge as I'm not really measuring), I hear a single clunking / movement noise from within the main body of the laptop (I would not say its loud, but loud enough to be able to hear it).. My model has 1 HDD and 2 SSDs, so I'm guessing that this noise is possibly the HDD head parking after a period of inactivity? I really don't see what else it could be - unless its something to do with the optical drive (maybe also the same thing). However the optical drive is on the right, and this sound seems to come more from the center/left of the laptop body. I really cannot think of any other moving components that could create the same kind of noise.

Laptop is running perfectly, just wondering what this noise is.

Yes, likely the HDD parking, when it does that you can confirm by putting your ear to the machine and seeing if there is a noise/delay if you try to access it.

It sounds very much like that! High pitched noise when it is speeding up and slowing down (the noise my girlfriend can't stand). Fan also makes a noticeable oscillating noise when idling. Figured it would be easier to replace the fan myself than send it in for repair and be without it for who knows how long.

One issue I was having, that I've since resolved, was Windows 8 "configuring windows features" when turning it on and shutting it down. Took 15 minuets to shutodwn once and 5 or so to startup a few times. Turns out the problem was windows language files being removed each time. Went in and removed them all myself last night (takes hours) and solved the problem.

Super RAID 2 is more of a misnomer. What it actually is, is three SSDs in a RAID 0 array, meaning all 3 disks act as one drive, and use a technique known as data striping without parity, meaning the data is assigned in blocks to different drives resulting in faster speeds.

    MSI Updated BIOS to E1763IMS.703

I'm really annoyed with MSI (and DJ Henry who they used for support), I sent off my laptop to get its fan and the above SSD looked at, it came back today exactly the same but with the Operating System restored to defaults.
I don't think they even bothered looking inside the case, it still has the same fan issues, and same poor SSD speeds.
