I think this one has the potential to go for 3467MHz, look at the part number, it is the same before CTD.

    SAMSUNG M471A2K43CB1-CRC.PNG

This is what @Falkentyne was talking about :D

Hopefully that is the case because according to Donald at HIDevolution, the memory in my unit is coming from Samsung and has this exact same part number prior to the CTD too....

    Definitely worth a try.

You can always get back to default RAM settings and voltage by holding the power button for 45 seconds.

But I suggest you test out the recover ability of your machine first.

You can do it by loosening the tCL timing by 1 or 2 and hold power button for 45 seconds to see if the RAM settings revert back to default.

If it does then congratulation, you are qualified for messing around with the RAM settings.

Well my GT63VR with Liquid Metal pasting and fujipoly pads by HIDevolution is supposed to be arriving today. Hopefully can get some temp readings once i get Windows set up to how i like it. :D Replacing both hard drivers with SSD drives i already owned (both 1TB Crucial SSD's) when it arrives and throwing in an extra stick of same model 16gb Samsung ram to make it 32gb total. Also have the new intel wireless 9260 card in it...well see how the temps go after Windows Reinstall (bloat free), etc etc....

Question with the liquid metal paste...do i have to worry about anything when flipping this unit over to remove the back panel to add the hard drives and memory in? I am almost 100% confident that the job HIDevolution does i shouldn't have anything to bat an eye over but since this is my first LQ paste job, never hurts to ask.... lol Man, after repasting laptops and desktops etc etc etc all these years myself and countless system builds, i feel like a noob again with liquid metal questions...haha!

I think the HID LM setup is pretty solid so you don’t need to have any particular cautions doing that. But follow their guidelines or ask them to make sure.
You DO have to be careful when cleaning it! Avoid using compressed air as it can get under the foam with its high pressure and push LM all over the place

If you didn't buy it from HIDevolution, then you should go to either your vendor where you bought it, or MSI directly for Warranty Service.

Most of the skins available would excentuate the dragon logo as opposed to hiding it. I would get some 3M Carbon Fibre Vinyl and wrap the top lid. Di-Noc is best, but is difficult to work with and requires a primer to ensure adhesion on sharp edges and tight corners (only use Di Noc if you have experience with vinyl wrap). This is the material that is used by Clevo system builders to wrap specific laptop parts.

For a first timer, I would recommend the 3M 1080 series wrap film. Please be aware that although it is easier to work with, it can be damaged (scratched) easier than the Di-Noc vinyl. Be sure to research the specific characteristics of the vinyl and also the proper method of application prior to purchasing anything.

Almost forgot to mention you would need to disassemble the lid to properly wrap the top portion.

Alternatively, you could cover the dragon logo only with vinyl. Much easier :)

Came across the following skin on Amazon for the GT62VR (identical chassis to the GT63).

    https://www.amazon.com/Special-Laptop-Carbon-newest-15-6-inch/dp/B01N2L0E7D

After reviewing the questions on the product listing, the seller appears to accept customs requests including covering up the dragon logo.

This may be the better option if you are looking for an easier solution. Not sure what brand the vinyl is but you can check that with the seller :)

When ordering from HIDevolution, do they usually include any .pdf or anything of how much they undervolted in the BIOS before shipping? I didn't see anything with mine and I know Donald stated they would BIOS undervolt a little before shipping? Am i just looking in the wrong place? I don't want to use throttlestop or Intel Utility to undervolt if it already has a BIOS undervolt...

You can see the undervolt yourself by opening Throttlestop in a new folder. It will show the default offsets used in the FIVR window.

Thank you Falkentyne I kinda figured that was the case but wanted to make sure before i started to mess around with Throttlestop. Also, out of the two...throttlestop or Intel XTU....which one do you recommend more? I've always used Intel XTU but I see alot of people on here use Throttlestop

As I told you in my email on Monday, the MSI GT63 8RG TITAN-046 is unique.

On the MSI GT63 8RG TITAN-046 we do attempt an undervolt, and the AC Load line mod, in the BIOS. However, most of the time neither will take, and remain stable.

I would therefore recommend just using it the way we built it, and do not attempt any BIOS mods, or undervolting, regardless of the method.

Thanks everyone for your reply. @Donald@HIDevolution , I didn't see your email reply until after I posted that and was just trying to figure out if a undervolt was applied to it through BIOS. Been out on a work assignment and don't have access to my personal email on occasion but thanks for the reply here and via email. I was also asking about Throttlestop and Intel XTU because I just wanted to know in general as I have a few other laptops (a MSI GT73VT Titan 6RF with a 1080 and a MSI GS43VR with a 1060) in it that I do use Intel XTU with. But the Intel XTU has been giving me issues. Looking all over the boards and reading i just noticed most users seem to prefer Throttlestop so mainly asking for my other 2 lappys mentioned above (which i am selling as well ;)) So thanks again everyone. Hopefully i can get some free time soon to put my new GT63 through some tests and let you all know.

By the way, as usual, highly recommend HIDevolution and Donald. They have been great through the entire process and went above and beyond....

    So, update.

There was a problem in motherboard. I was not told about exact problem, but it was DOA. They confirmed.

Was it me so unlucky (( Or that laptop had the same issue with another buyer. Who knows

The retailer is ready to return the money.

The lucky moment is that happened within 15 days from pickup date, cause I had maximum rights

And.... The most interesting thing that I've used to it ultimate power in 15.6 inch chassi and 3 kilos format.

In fact, there are not so many choices on today's market with the same specs in 15.6 with good cooling, power, etc.

To switch to 1070 and choose from various options from HPs to GE63?

Also (can't find the link), I read that GT63 isnt so successful model. The problem is that the chassi is still from Dominators and only little adopted to coffee lakes

I don't know what to do

    Hey everyone,

I would just like to ask if anyone has found a good laptop sleeve for the GT63. Most I find are either way too big or slightly too small.

Appreciate the response but I highly doubt that this sleeve would fit the GT63. There is comments from people stating that the Asus ROG GL551JM barely fits and it has smaller dimensions. The answer would not be as simple as typing laptop sleeve into Amazon. I have been searching everywhere to find one. Please only respond if you can verify that the laptop fits (I.e you own one).

Hm.. Well, as I said there is not so many reliable options with 1080 in 15.6". I'll think.

In fact, may be 1070 will suit me either. Cause I can't name myself a hardcore gamer

If you are not a hardcore gamer, then really you only need a 1070 at most and you could even go with a 1070 Max Q. What type of games do you play?

On a 1080p screen a newer lappy with most recent CPU processor, 1070 or 1070 Max Q should be just fine and dandy for you if you are worried about heat and should suit you fine for those type of games. And if all else fails, order one from one of the reputable companies that post here that do thermal repaste or liquid metal and you should be good to go..

    Thanks.

Yep, having my ex ((( GT63 and playing the games listed above I could hardly see temps over 80 on either Cpu or GPU. Averagely was 75 CPU and 65 GPU. I saw that well enough even for the future.

As for HIDevolution and others. The guys are just great but I am from Russia and delivery will cost me a lot, especially with F...... Customs. 30 percent of tax to pay for over 1000 usd value.

    That stops me

Ahh I understand my friend...i forgot about your location so yes it would be a little pricey. are you confident repasting your lappy yourself with something like Gelid EX or Kryonaught? I just received a GT63VR with 1080 and Liquid pasting (hidevolution did for me) and its been very solid so far but I also have a GE63VR with a 1070 that I have repasted myself with Gelid Extreme and it is handling the temps pretty good with the repaste i did with that

i hear ya...i was pretty comfortable with regular pasting and had done it numerous times before but i wanted the GT63VR "liquidfied" and wanted no part of that so I had HIDevolution do that lol

Which way are you leaning? Going to try another GT63VR with a 1080 or something else with a 1070 or something?

Oh, I thought I've got rid of agony of choosing when I received my laptop. And now once again)))

Look, GT63 was nice in every piece except it thickness. It has enough portability with 2.9 kilos (6.4 pounds) especially after my ex 17" Alienware))) I am marine Captain and even to carry my previous AW between my cabin and the Bridge I used a Seaman for assistance. I carried the laptop and he carried power brick and mouse with cooling pad.

But GT63 it's still a bit chubby)) Continuous typing is a little challenge to be honest. But in all other aspects had no complains.

As I said, I am not a hardcore gamer so may be will move down to 1070. But even though ultra thin like GS65... Hm, I dont think that those laptops are reliable from minor damage for 4-5 years. When I holed my AW or GT63 there is insurance in every touch that the built quality is good enough.

    The top choices are :

    1. Msi Ge63 (max is 1070)
    2. Asus GL504GS Scar 2. Looks very nice for me. The bethels are small, quite a compact laptop with full 1070 and amazing 144Hz IpS panel. But not sure how relieble is that laptop. It's Asus. In my country that vandor doesn't have a good reputation in reliability.
    3. Gt63 itself (one more time, baby)
    4. Surely it could be Clevo but those laptops are not represented here.

Priority is Asus. Yes, it doesn't have neither Gsync nor Optimus, but 2.4 kilos, smaller brick and lighter and thinner then GE63. Not sure about built quality, reliability of components and cooling system.

Heyyyy guys! Picked up a unit from the local Micro Center, the thing rocks. I just had a custom bios made by Svet, and through it, the power throttling issues plaguing the i7-8750H are GONE for me. 1200+ cinebench runs back-to-back-to-back, without reaching 85C on stock paste. I'll be applying liquid metal soon regardless. This is a nice win. :)

I misspoke, not even 70C with max fans engaged--the spike to 85 was before full fan speed. Wow, now I feel like I got what I paid for! Svet works off of donations, and there is a minimum required/based on the difficulty of creating the bios (I think newer ones are tougher). I donated €30. Fantastic to work with.

Have the temps worsened at all over time with the custom bios?

I'll play some Torchlight 2 tonight and let you know my results. From my Cinebench loops last night I didn't notice any temperature increase over normal.

Another good choice! Get it repasted and repadded if you can (liquid metal would be great but something like Gelid or Kryonaught will serve you well too). I replied to your other post under that forum. I have this GT63 Titan that just arrived AND the GE63. Love both.

Well i do like to game but when I got the GT63 Titan with the 1080, I gave my GE63 with the 1070 to my daughter lol No reason for me personally to use both since both are 15' lappys...the GT63 Titan with the 1080 turned out to be perfect for me after HIDevolution got their hands on it so my daughter won the consolation prize...haha!
