Well, that doesn't look alright at all. As last resort before RMA i'd try to reinstall the whole windows and/or do a clean install.

I agree with either a factory reset or a clean OS reinstall.

Well, problems still persisting after a day of troubleshooting. Factory fresh or OS install aren't really easy options considering the fact I'm traveling and only have crap internet, but I guess I'll see what I can do.

    Appreciate the help though.

Is it okay to remove the battery on the GT62VR and leave it running 24/7 without the battery? Would there be any issue with a setup like this?

Also what are the normal temps for CPU and GPU (1070) during idle and load? Can you share your temps here? Here's mine:

    During idle
    CPU - 47
    GPU - 58

    30 minutes of load
    CPU - 74
    GPU - 86

Is this normal? I feel that the GPU is running really hot. BTW, I've set my fan to auto.

    Based on dragon center

    CPU: 1100+

GPU: hovers most of the time at 2300+ and dips below 1500+ for a minute or two then goes back to 2300+

Weird. What surface are you putting it on? Have you tried raising the laptop a little bit to see if it helps with cooling?

Hard wood, yeah I have something on the back of the laptop to raise it a bit. Nothing blocks the airflow and ambient temp in my room is between 26C to 30C.

What's your idle and under load temps and fan speed as well?

So I found a temporary fix to hold me over till I can RMA my laptop, since nothing so far has worked. I downloaded MSI Afterburner, and underclocked my GPU by 100 MHz.

I imagine I shouldn't have to be throttling back my GPU to get games to run properly, so I'm still RMA'ing it when I get home from my latest round of travel.

I use a custom fan profile. Idle temps on cold boot don't exceed 35C. Under load the gpu fan runs at 3000-3400rpm and CPU at 2300 if i remember correctly. Temps are always under 70 degrees for the moment and ambient temp is still low in here (20C today).

Working on an amazing program for the GT62VR, it basicly fixes Killer LAN issues, better cool templates for CPU aswell as GPU and undervolting mechanics.
Also a big tweak button to fix high battery drain issues.
I'm looking forward to releasing it soon.

Just want to update this thread regarding my high idle temps, maybe it will help someone encountering the same issue.

The reason why I was having high idle temps (CPU: 47C and GPU: 58C) was due to the 1070 not idling at all. Even without any load the GPU was maintaining a 1400Mhz+ core clock speed.

The fix is to go to 'Nvidia Control Panel' > Manage 3D settings > Global Settings > Power management mode > make sure it is set to 'Optimal power' or Adaptive. Idle core clock speed should now be around 140Mhz+

    Now my idle temps are:

    CPU - 39C
    GPU - 43C

Already tried updating my VBIOS and it didn't work per MSI's instructions. I'm holding off on doing anything else. I'm just going to utilize the warranty while I still have it.

    You don't need MSI's instructions.
Just run the batch file in the flasher.
It works. There is ZERO reason for it NOT to work if you're using a 1070.
I'm talking about the VBIOS, not the system BIOS or EC firmware.

    Hi,
I just got my refurbished one today. Have some weird problems with it. GT62VR 6RE

First, the resolution is only 1366x768.. is this a fault or do some units really come with this crappy screen?

Second, the true colors dont work at all.. nothing changes ..

Third, theres no intel 530 card or any other beside the gtx 1070.

I tried everything, updating drivers, uninstall and reinstall, even did a full recovery.

Can this model be like this as intended or theres something broken?

    Thank you

    Resolution should be 1920x1080.
Try running Wagnard's DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode (spam F8 quickly after BIOS splash screen to get into safe mode; or google for how to get in there, as I dont know if it's the same key in windows 10 as in 7)), then download the current Nvidia drivers and install that.

The Intel GFX chip is disabled, you won't be able to use it as this laptop doesn't support Hybrid Power by nVidia.

ok, tried the uninstall and reinstall and nothing.. did a full recovery and STILL doesnt go full HD
Can a screen be faulty and only show a lower resolution? everything else works fine, my 4k external monitor displays perfect, the gtx 1070 inside the laptop works just fine.

I dont want to send it back just to find out it was some known issue with windows or something

    EDIT.
Also i cant install the truecolors app , thats why i kinda believe the screen might be faulty.

Yes, do a RMA then. Probably a damaged cable or something, and it's not worth opening up the laptop and unplugging cables to see if there's a problem when you can just RMA. Things should work out of the box.

It should be 1080P, however, use AIDA64 to find out the monitor ID and then we can check its spec on panelook.com.

Well, i talked to MSI support and they confirmed to me that this laptop, based on the serial number, is suppose to have 1080P panel.
I just called Amazon and explained to them and i was offered a 10% discount!! quite a lot of money for this laptop hehe. So ill just keep it and send it to MSI and they will change it.

WIN-WIN!! Thank you guys for helping, i just wanted to make sure is not some software issue and i send it back for nothing.. now that i know what it is i dont mind waiting for the repair for a 10% discount hehe

I see, so the panel could had been swapped by its previous owner to get the 1080P screen if it was never equipped with such panel. Glad to know that Amazon was able to swap it for you without trouble.

    That's 1080P indeed.

I think this is what happened :-( Looking at the side of the screen you can see some marks like it was opened up.. the warranty sticker is broken.

Now i dont think MSI will warrant this so big dilema..
I bought this just for VR, going to use in another room just for Oculus, i have my Alienware desktop for games.
It was an Amazon warehouse item. With the discount they just gave me i now paid £999 for a GT62VR gtx 1070 laptop. So the price is really good.

Makes it really hard to send it back, and i fear MSI will not replace the screen..

What to do.. what to do...

Best to exchange it with Amazon because MSI will not provide replacement if it's not original part.

    Hello, I purchased an MSI GT62VR Dominator Pro-087 15.6" (Intel Core i7 6th Gen 6700HQ, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD/1TB HDD)

I'm having some issues where I start up the computer and it's running but there is a black screen/no video. I believe it enters Windows after some point, because the SteelSeries keyboard color profile is loaded correctly after about 30-40 seconds.

Then if I power it down, and power up again, the screen displays fine. This seems to happen every other boot up. Any ideas as to how to remedy this, or what the issue is?

@sniperdude88 Did you update the TrueColor app to latest version? What drivers version you got? I guess you are also on creators update, right?

Btw has anyoned tried undervolting the 1060/1070 with Afterburner voltage curve yet? If yes, how do you apply the changes and how low can you go with Pascal?

I've just set all values in curve editor to 1700MHz - works fine.
GTX1070, apply on startup & Afterburner added to system startup.

Guys how do you do that? I've tried changing every single set up in the settings menu, installing afterburner betas... but I can only change the core clock and the memory clock.

Using this: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthre...-quot-voltage-control-quot-in-MSI-Afterburner, I've enabled the voltage control, but I can only overvolt(and im interested in the opposite).

Do you have a modified vBios?

    I have this laptop with a 6700HQ and a GTX 1070.

Also added liquid metal and got a gain around 20°C on the CPU and 12°C on the GPU.

But i´d like to ged rid of the stock fans. They are very bad. Anyone replaced them with
some other 0.65A 12V ones? Besides i tried to find the stock fans to replace but found
them nowhere. Im thinking about RMA only the fans because of ths high pitch sound
    comming with it.

    Grüß dich! :)

From what i´ve read only one major problem (rare) is that some devices
may crash on ANY heavier 3D application, but there is a bios update about that.

Also the quality of the fans may vary. Some are ok. Some have rattling and /or a high pitch
noise like mine. And since MSI Germany is not just sending out parts like in the US,
you may have to send it to them to get rid of it if your device got one of theese problems.

Besides of theese points there are now flaws with it AFAIK. Its still a premium device.
I´d just put some liquid metal on it or go to some trusted shop to pay a little bit so someone
can do it for you. It will decrease overall temperatures about 20°C. My CPU is now
around 60°C at FULL load with Turbofan.

So you may det a low fpm fan profile letting it hit 75°C but getting a much more silent notebook.

Is ot only with this game? Pls try many apps/games. If its just with this game
it isnt something specific with the GE62 but more likely a driver / OS or whatever problem.
