Call support. This will be New MB replacement on your warranty. Too late when your warranty has expired. Why wait?

But didn't you say that the gpu fan is dead? I still suggest you to use the warranty now, you never know what happens or if they may refuse to replace it later.

Ps: the left side showed on your pic doesn't look alright either

    RMA now! :)
Btw, shipping fees are paid by MSI SC.contact them, Describe the issue, do not express your suspicions why this happened and request RMA number.Once the number is given you will order the delivery pickup at preferred company which MSI use in your parts.
Pack it well, (preferably the original box), tape it well, take a photos of.the box prepared for pickup a then await your unit back in 1month.it depends of course.

Yeah, again perfectly documented...why to bother if your machine runs well..?
Only text is: Fix system sometimes cannot shutdown (S5) if the notebook only has PCI-e SSD or HDD installed.

Hey guys, been reading through this thread for a couple days now. Pretty dead set on picking up one of these laptops! Very impressed with how well it appears to be built and how well it's cooled. Now my question is, I've been trying to find a good gaming rig at a decent price and I'm much more concerned with having a laptop that can adequately cool itself rather than have one that's razor thin. So I really didn't want to spend too much more than 1000, but I've seen refurb units pop up for around $11-1200 with gtx1060's and saw one go for $1300 with a 1070. Are those deals on refurbs too good to pass up? Also are refurbs from MSI a good idea, especially for that price? Thanks for the help!

You don't have many reasonable options in par with gt62, in the price interval you provided...
    A few advices:
    1. Don't buy cpu,gpu soldered machines
    2. If you are keeping a HW for year or two, then point 1 is irelevant fo you
    3. As you wrote, keep off the thin systems
    4. Refurbed units...hmmm...what's your internal feeling when you know that ur wife/girl had x men before? It's similar, at least with me.they may replace the dmged part, but it's not the same like with factory virgin like unit..that esence of purity :) .at other hand, even brand new unit may be corrupted and in opposite case the skilled wife/debugged refurbed unit can give you experience and joy which you can barely expect from the virgin/untested brand new system...
    5. Is there some inevitable reason why you need laptop?

I do plan on keeping whichever laptop I buy for at least 3-4 years, but laptops with upgradable chips such as the F5 I see everyone mentioning are out of my budget. I'm buying a laptop to replace my 5 year old HP. I'm aware that I can get a much better desktop for the same price, however I'd much prefer a laptop.

I honestly don't mind buying refurbed units, I'm just curious what the general consensus is on MSI's refurb machines, and refurbed gaming laptops in this price bracket in general. I feel like 1300 for a 1070 GT62 is an AMAZING deal even despite it being refurbished, and that I'd be a fool to pick up a gtx1060 machine at 1200. Am I right in making that assumption?

Hey guys i'm getting random drops with the Wifi (Killer 1435AC) using the drivers in the support page of MSI.

does anyone know how to solve this? maybe a new driver? or tweaking W10 settings?

it's just a momentary drop but when i'm playing overwatch it always drops me out of the matches.

Download latest drivers fron Killer Networking site as they should fix that issue. If that doesn't work i'd uninstall the suite and use drivers only version and see if its of any help.
Sadly Killer cards on W10 do not seem to work good, mine has never dropped connection but sometimes (i bet it's W10 ****ing up) the adapter still disappears when in sleep mode and it comes back if you put it in sleep and wake up again lol.
I may have found the reason why though i need to do more testing.

Uninstall the Killer Suite then reboot, then only install the INF Driver via the device manager, here are the latest ones:

    Killer WLAN Driver v12.0.0.296/BT v10.0.0.279

It's really easy. Extract the files you've just downloaded and open up the device manager, look for the wireless adapter and double click on it, click on the Driver tab. Click on "Update Driver", then on Browse my computer for driver software and Browse to choose the folder with the files you've downloaded.
(You can also do it quickly by right-clicking on "Update Driver Software" over the adapter's name while in the device manager.)

Choose the Windows10-x64 folder as there are different folders for Ethernet drivers ( including another folder which includes binaries for the Control Center if i'm not wrong), wireless drivers etc, the device manager will automatically detect the correct folder (at least it did in my case), in this case the wireless one.

Killer Networking has released a new update for the Control Center and INF package aswell. I have installed the INF versions of Ethernet and Wireless drivers, so far i had no issues.

    Control Center here

    Download INF package from here

Has anyone experience issues with their sound card/drivers? I am getting a crackling sound out of my speakers and headphones if I multi task with music or video playing. I have tried reinstalling the drivers but to no avail.

I installed additional ram, could this be the issue?

On MSI's support latest Realtek drivers available are 6.0.1.8083, i suggest you to uninstall the Nahimic software and realtek drivers you currently have (reboot after each uninstall) and then install those from MSI's site.

I have used and i'm using -150mV with no issues. I have seen some people running -160mv but i think -150 is enough for everyone.
It is safe to run them but of course you're the one who confirms the changes, so before starting making them i'd suggest to gather some info on each setting you want to tweak.

Just got my 1060 GT62 today and I just want to check with all of you about the laptop at idle:
    - CPU/GPU fans run at around 1150 RPM
    - Fan under the left corner of the keyboard (I assume the GPU fan) is constantly audible at idle at 1150 RPM - it makes sort of a propeller noise.
    - Idle temps are about 38C for the CPU and 42C for the GPU.

Do all of these sound normal? I have a couple weeks to exchange with the retailer.
    Thanks in advance!

    Morning all.

First post here because I need some help. Bought the laptop as something I could take with me abroad, leave in my room and have something to play games on and do a little bit of work. Mainly gaming.

I'm running into this issue where on any game, the computer will minimize the game automatically, the screen will go black, and then the game comes back up (sometimes). I can't recreate the problem consistently, but some games are worse than others. Some games will come back up with a white screen that I can't recover from.

Even if I can recover from it, it's still a huge hassle and making me really regret buying this thing.

Anyone have similar issues, maybe some possible leads to chase?

The fan is indeed audible in idle sometimes (especially if you're alone in the room and there is barely any noise) but trust me nobody except you will ever notice it because you're closer to it and other people in the room may not even notice it.

What's the ambient temperature? Temps are still fine so don't worry about it too much. I'd suggest you to raise the laptop by putting something under the five rubber feet so that you can get more airflow. I have raised it a little bit more just some minutes ago and i have noticed a 3-4 difference in temps for the moment (summer weather started to pop in :p), i'll have to test it under load but i don't expect much since i'm always under the 70 degrees zone and that is more than fine for me :)

Sounds like a gsync issue, i have had that issue too, sometimes it bounces back thanks to nvidia. What i have done to fix it is making sure that my games use either Vsync+Gsync or Fast sync + Gsync. When you get those random black and white screen flashes i usually reboot my laptop or disable and enable again gsync from the panel. If you want to be sure that it's gsync just turn it off and play some heavy games and do not limit the framerate, usually the issues comes up when you push the CPU in cpu intensive games or multiplayer clients which are optimized like crap hence causing lag spikes and at same time if you got Gsync enabled (i've read somewhere that the white and black flashes can also happen due to lags, i'm not very well informed about this but it should be because of frame-skipping or how it's called), at least for me.

What i always suggest is to make some researches as those help you to understand how these technologies work on laptops and what are the limits of them. I'm going to do some on G-sync again since i realized i forgot some stuff :p

    Thanks for responding!
What I'm concerned about with the (GPU) fan is that although I understand it runs on idle, it make sort of a very "soft/muffled ticking" noise like a slow propeller would make.
In the past for me, this has been a sign that the fan is spinning off axis, but this sounds a little more harmless. It may just be the sound of the center bearing, but I'm not sure, which is why I want to check with all of you~

In terms of the 38-42C temps, I'm curious about that because my room ambient temperature is fairly cool, no higher than 20C.

I had that same ticking noise an it drove me insane. I was worried that it would get worse so I exchanged mine with amazon. Now I just hear a whirring sound. My idle temps are similar to yours maybe increased by a degree or two for the most part with the 1070 gpu.

My idle temps are around 27-32 on CPU and something around 30-35 on the GPU on a cold boot. They used to be lower in winter (we had times with a huge ambient temp drop where the laptop barely touched 30 degrees under normal usage lol) but now since the ambient temp raised things changed a bit.
For example after a long session of GTA Online the first stable temperature i get is 38 on cpu and 43 on GPU but it goes down to 34-38 with no problems leaving it on idle for some minutes.

About the fan i'm no expert but if it's really annoying you should try to replace it till you can.

Okay :) My idle temps seem to be reasonable now, dropping to as low as the mid 30s after no activity.

The high-pitched, hollow propeller-sounding GPU fan on idle still bugs me a little, and my OCD says that maybe I should get an exchange while I can because I don't want the fan to malfunction later if it's spinning off access or the bearing is messed up.
But the exchange process is not simple, so before I do, is there anyone else who could pitch in about whether the GPU fan (left side of the keyboard) making this sound is normal? I'd really appreciate it~

How did you get them so low?

I am at 42 cpu and 45 gpu idle after a cold boot. Should I be concerned?

I had the idea to open up event viewer and play Fallout 4 till it crashed. Right at the time of crash, I get "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Looking into possible fixes, hopefully I get lucky.

It's possible "macmyc" is using thermal paste or a cooling pad? Also you have 1070 so I think a higher idle temp for you is expected.
As for CPU, 42 is what I have. I also found through task manager that some microsoft bloat processes from a fresh Windows 10 installation were spiking my CPU occasionally, which contributed to the higher CPU temp.

I'll take this time to plug that I'm still hoping for another person to chime in on whether their GPU fan normally makes this propeller sound on idle :)

I'm on stock paste and i'm not using a cooling pad either :p I have got the 1060 model too.
I think that ambient temperature + humidity makes a huge difference, i did also lift up the laptop a bit from the desk by 7mm and made sure there is enough space on the back where the hot air comes out. My startup processes are basically the essential ones (MSI SCM, TrueColor, Nahimic, Intel rapid storage, steelseries and nvidia capture proxy crap (i think it's the one that makes ALT + Z overlay work).

Right now i have changed my fan profile and put both fans at 1200-1300Rpm and after a hour of playing Payday 2 i'm now at 39 degrees on GPU and 36 on CPU. The cores usually are cooler by 3-5 degrees so yeah i'm also surprised by this considering it feels like a summer day in here (20 degrees celsius outside and maybe something around 23-24 degrees inside imo).

I'm gonna test now with standard usage and Auto fan profile if it changes.

    EDIT:

Idle temps with Auto fan profile measured after this post and coming from one hour session of gaming

    They are pretty solid.

    Currently on 381.89, downloading 382.05.

As far as Windows, I don't think I'm on Anniversary or Creators. Should be Windows 10 Home, Version 1607.

Were you running any software in background when you launched the game? Maybe some incompatibility issues? How about other games?

No, I keep my background programs to a minimum. The only thing that runs that wasn't on here when I bought it is my Logitech software for my G900, but I really don't think that'd be the culprit. Got rid of Norton, but I feel that should be a given.

Every game is similar, with slight variation. Diablo 3: Screen goes black, then about 4 seconds later it comes back and my brightness is maxed out. Game resumes fine. Fallout 4 will flat out crash to desktop. Battlefield will black out, come back up, but the screen is white. Can still move around and control the game as normal, but my screen is whited out.
