I had rattling sound problem.
I contacted MSI customer service in US.
They sent new fan to me under warranty. -
Oh didn't noticed it..sorry guys my bad
Calling MSI would be the obvious choice then, won't hurt trying. -
Options:
> Open support call to MSI, negotiate the fan exchange only, refuse to send to the whole unit to them just because of the fan replacement which can handle every kid, send them fan only and request the return of the spare fan.
> contact cyberpowersystems.co.uk and check with them whether you can buy spare fans for : Fangbook 4 XTREME
> contact EUROCOM for Tornado F5 fan procurement
> one guy on ebay, sells the MSI stuff sometimes - recently he was selling brand new heatsink set for GT62 - since you need the fan , you cannot afford to wait , this is the last resort. PM me if you need his name.

To install latest Nahimic Update you'll need RealTek 8083 drivers which you can find here (link was posted by Nahimic's staff on their "forum").
https://nahimic.helprace.com/i195-nahimic-2-is-now-available
I'm trying it right now.
EDIT:
No issues so far, seems a solid update.Last edited: Mar 22, 2017 -

Guys I have an issue with external microphones.
Whenever I connect a microphone to the mic jack, the computer recognizes that I have a new mic connected, however it wouldn't work.
Only the built in mic is working.
I've looked through the nahimic options and couldn't solve the issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks, -
Alright MSI GT62 Owners got a q for you all!
Pretty good deal MSI GT62 VR (6gen I7) for $1199
http://www.microcenter.com/product/...7_156_Gaming_Laptop_Computer_-_Aluminum_Black
However, I don't know anything about the MSI's aside from reading all 200 pages here and the notebook buy forum. So, my question is would you buy the MSI again, or spend about $70 more for a Clevo P650 [Eluktronics P650 for $1349
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBUH1HO/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1
or
Eluktronics P650 with TN 120HZ screen and 128 gb ssd/8GB ram for $1349
http://www.eluktronics.com/P650HP6-G-1P1H8RVR.]
I asked some forum experts, but wanted to check with the MSI owners too. -
At that price i'd buy two of these lol
I don't have that much of experience with other brands since it's the first gaming laptop i got but MSI did a good job on the GT62, especially on cooling. I have seen many other laptops suffering with a 6700HQ and a 1060 on temps side and perfomance wise (most of them underclock badly under load).
This baby can stay under 70 degrees easily even with heavy games such as GTA V or Wildlands. With a custom fan curve you can go down to 65 and 60-65 on both GPU and CPU.
Funny thing is that i don't even need to undervolt it yet, unless you wanna drop the fans under 2600 rpms which is where those more sensible will say it's loud . My current fan curve brings the GPU fan to 3k rpm and CPU to 2400-2500rpm, temps never reach 70 like this and you also have some room for OC on the GPU.
Audio from the speakers is fine imho, but i can't say much as i got my earphones on most of the time.
The only thing making me go nuts is cleaning the laptop exterior which is good at collecting small dust
So yeah, i'd buy it again, maybe for some €€ less too haha.
Keep in mind that if you're looking for higher perfomance you should go onto other models which use 6820HK or 7820HK + 1070 because those are OCable and can give you a more "future proof" rig.
Ps: how am i supposed to clean the screen from small "spit"? I got only two which are small AF but sometimes they make me cringe due to their position. -
I am planning to buy this laptop as my first gaming lap
Pls help me with the goods and bads of this laptop
My other option is asus rog gl502 vm
Which is better? -

I was looking into a similar ASUS laptop. I would pick the MSI over the ASUS especially the GT62VR since it comes with a 1070 instead of a 1060. Even the ASUS that came with the 1070 isn't as great as the GT62VR. Even though laptops may have a 1070 installed that doesn't mean the performance will be the same across all laptops, and with the ASUS that was the case. It did not get the same performance as the MSI, in multiple games the MSI continued to get better frame-rates then the ASUS. So if you're looking for a gaming laptop then you want to go with one that'll have great performance, and get better frame-rates, and MSI is always on top when it comes to pure gaming. The only computer I would recommend other than the MSI is the Alienware 15 R3, that's the only computer that beat MSI when it came to gaming. The Alienware laptop always got better frame-rates, but the reason why I opted for this model instead of Alienware was because of the thermal issues that's plaguing a lot of people. Apparently the thermal paste was done horribly, and was causing units to reach temps in the 100s which is crazy, even the replacement units are having the same problems. I haven't had any issue with overheating with my unit, especially since I redid the thermal paste. Not that it was needed, I just know manufacturers do a crappy job when they apply thermal paste, so I wanted to redo it, and use better quality stuff. Now when I'm gaming my temps peak at 70, and thats with my fans on basic instead of auto or using MSI cooler boost option.

Is the killer lan in msi really bad as they say?
-
Personally I haven't had any problems. I had killer networking on my old Alienware and haven't had any issues

Well it depends. I'm a computer technician and I was working on this particular unit for a client. Nothing crazy he just wanted to swap out the 1TB HDD for a 960GB SSD. It was a pain to get into, and I'm personally not a fan of the micro fiber type material thats underneath the computer. I understand the mindset of having something that's comfortable on your lap, and won't burn you while gaming, but it made me think a piece of the chassis was missing, and something should be covering that part. I also didn't like that the RAM slots, and M.2 slot is behind the motherboard, so you'll have to a do a more thorough tear down just to replace/upgrade the RAM or upgrade the M.2. I swapped out my M.2 with a 500GB Samsung 960 NVME drive and it was simple to do on the GT62VR. I'm still not a fan of the RAM being on the other side of the motherboard, but at least most of the components I would upgrade are easily accessible. If you want to redo the thermal paste you can forget it with this particular unit.
The ASUS model however everything is easily accessible without having to do a complete disassembly. Redoing the thermal paste is easier with this unit. The only thing I don't like about this computer is that black and orange combo. I just never been a fan of it. The IPS display isn't as color accurate, but it still looks nice for gaming.
If you don't plan on upgrading any of the parts then the MSI would be my choice. It looks better, and runs better. If you want to upgrade the parts, and even redo the thermal paste then I would pick the ASUS both are solid computers.Last edited: Mar 27, 2017 -

The HDMI output from the nvidia 1070 to the TV screen suddenly failed except for the 800x600 resolution.
HDMI output to TV was working great for 2 months until the TV screen suddenly turned black while the laptop was on yesterday, displaying "no signal". I am trying to pinpoint the issue. It is most likely the laptop rather than the TV because other HDMI devices are working well with the same HDMI cable and same HDMI ports on TV. I am lost and tried updating nvidia drivers, changing the powering sequence of tv/laptop/changing cables...
Any ideas?
By the way, the HDMI output works when i switch my laptop resolution to 800x600, but anything higher than that and the TV screen just displays "No Signal".

Does anyone have any Kingston MSI24D4S7S8MB-8 they no longer need or found compatible RAM to go with this?

Probably a very dumb question.
Just got this laptop, and trying to figure out how to update the drivers. Is there a better way then going to MSI website and downloading, then running each individually?
Thank you -

Please also note that if you run into issues from installing the latest drivers including beta versions, MSI cannot provide support on these drivers and most likely you will be instructed to perform factory reset to restore the system back to normal stage. -
Hey guys.
i recently bought this notebook: GT62vr 7RE (7700hq, 1070, 16gig) i was very excited about it until i ran some benchmarks.
When i compare the results to some reviews, it's never on par. i compared my results to for example https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1070-Laptop.169549.0.html
and https://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GT62VR-7RE-Dominator-Pro-Notebook-Review.197272.0.html
in valley benchmark i get just 77fps, they get 82 fps with a 6700hq!? so i could have spent much less?!
all tests done with the turbo-profile (+100mhz cpu and +200 mhz vram), all background processes closed & all background and temps are fine.(coolerboost checked)
altough the results are mostley just a bit off, i'm dissapointed. a paid much money (in austria 2000€) for it, so i expected nearly the same performance.
I also updated my bios & ec, didn't help.
some other tests:
cinebench 15 multicore ~710 (it looks like the cpu is throttling very much under load - it can never hold the x34 multiplier in multicore benchmarks because it's exceeding the power limit)
vrmark ~7100
3d mark icestorm ~ 87.000 (notebookcheck 127000!)
3d mark timespy 5800 ( i surpass notbookcheck on this one surprisely)
3d mark cloudgate 24200
3d mark firestrike 13590
battlefield1 min 89fps! max 106
what do you guys think? i'm really curious if sb got same performanceissues. i'm really thinking of sending it backLast edited: Apr 12, 2017 -

yes i compared it to other notebooks (they generally peformed better), but couldn't really find any for the same model - so i asked here =) temps are max 60-65c°(140 to 149 °F), so shouldnt be a problem
would be sweet if someone could do some benchsmarks too =) -
Cinebench has a % of error between runs where sometimes you will score more, sometimes less. You can try undervolting to allow the CPU breathing room and reach higher clocks after the power limit. Depending on how you reach the balance, you will gain some points.
3dmark, don't run or don't focus on anything below firestrike or timespy. All other tests like Icestorm, cloudgate, are useless and made for weaker hardware in mind. Most likely your GPU is not even breaking a sweat, and maybe even downclocking when in these tests. My old GT80 used to have low score on those, with massively better score on firestrike.
In 3dmark, always use the individual components per score (CPU, GPU, Combined) not only the total. That way you can identify if the CPU or the GPU is the one that might be under performing. If your individual scores are near what they should, you don't need to worry.
You can also use the data you acquired and then test again after a clean install of new drivers. Sometimes, some drivers score better in games but worse in metrics, or the other way around. Some drivers also have power limits that affect scores/performance.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -
Has anyone tried the Creators Update yet? If yes, did you find any issue with MSI apps or other kind of problems?
I received the update just today but i haven't installed it yet because i'm waiting to see if there is something broken first.Last edited: Apr 17, 2017 -

I'm curious to see opinions about the speakers of the GT62VR. I still have my GT60-2OC which I plan to sell, but its speakers are somehow much better in quality. The new ones are weaker somehow, they have the usual tincan sound that most laptops do. It's a bit better if I fire up Nahimic and configure it, but it's still nowhere near to the GT60 speakers that by default seem to provide better quality - no configuration or additional software needed.
Am I missing something here? -
Hello, i`m having this issue seems a transistor or something just burned out, this happened few months ago , laptop (gt62vr) still runs fine but i dk will it effect something in future ? if yes then how to fix that thing

Well, that doesn't seem a good thing. I suggest you to use the warranty before it's too late.
I'm curious though, how did that happen?
