I think double sided tape is all you need.

Can you take your bezel off and let me see the screen eDP connector up close and screen mounting points?

I haven't tried yet. I'm off to London for 3 weeks, once I get back home I'll have time to play. I'm just trying to plan ahead, as it looks like getting the screen shipped will end up taking some time.

Digging further it looks like the LCD controller on the motherboard(google-fu) is a 2-channel 30 pin edp connection. 4k panels require a 40 pin 4 channel connection, so it looks like I'm up **** creek.

Guess I'll have to find a better 1080p panel, or resell this laptop when I get back from London... I wonder if QHD is possible

    Hey from US here

Does anyone experience weird dizzling/crankling sound of fans like the fan blades touch the fins of heatsinks when they are spinning???
I have exchanged this notebook like this 3rd new one but still have this issue

    Thanks

    PS 1st is dead pixel
    2nd is dizzling sound
3rd is still some dizzling but better than 2nd

sorry to have a random question, but when i play a game, (NBA2K17), sometimes i turn on the cooling fans.
doing this, gives me like 9/10 chance the game will crash.
2/10 crash if i dont turn on the fans.
in the windows event logs, there is the "nvlddmkm stopped responding" error, along with, nvspcaps64.exe has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware".
any of you good sirs encounter this? would love to know your fix. thanks.

Sounds like a driver issue to me, try a different one, in the GT73VR thread there is a discussion about MSI releasing a driver that is not available on the Nvida site and runs cooler then the latest driver on the Nvida site. http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...owners-and-discussions-lounge.794968/page-293

I stuck with the MSI, and am loving it. No issues yet after almost, although the wifi drops out occasionally, and i'm looking for a fix.

Also, wondering what everyone is using for their display settings. Are people happy with the true colour gaming setting?

If youi want to poke around the massive GT73VR thread there are a few profiles around and although your display is different it could hurt to try them.

Hey. I do have the same problem with the fan. I saw the video you posted. And mine sounds the same. I actually live in India and my cousin got this from the US. i dont know if i should sent it back with her to the US for a replacement cos the sound is annoying. Did you solve the problem with the fan or did you get a replacement. Or did you have the same lappie with the fan sound and are using it? Is it working properly?

PS: India is not an authorised gobal travel assurance zone for global warranty from msi. And bad luck is that India is the only country in the list of countries that msi is present.

This is my 4th unit. still have tiny bit of rattling sound.

For the 3rd unit, I have tried to look into the fan itself, dissemble it and oil the core of it, however, it still makes rattling sound.
I exchange the new one again for the 4th time. it still sound rattling tiny bit but definitely better than my 2nd and 3rd
    my 3rd is the worst
    All are manufactured on 11/16

In conclusion, every unit in partucular in this 11/16 batch are affected this fan rattling problem.

I suggest u to exchange it if u still are able to do.

PS my 1st was perfect in term of fan noise except one dead pixel that why i returned it

    Hello guys,

has anyone tried the .111 BIOS released on MSI Support website? If you did, did it solve the issue with the Wi-Fi killer card disappearing from the device manager?
I have tried everything with it, even installing the drivers only version (downloaded from Killer networking support) but it didn't help at all, the card disappears from the device manager when you put the laptop into sleep mode (doesn't happen always, it's random) and it returns only if you shut it down and boot again.
I have also noticed some other weird stuff such as GTA V V-Sync limiting fps to 63 instead of 60 when enabled. This one was easy to fix though, enabled the V-SYNC from nvidia panel and G-SYNC for fullscreen + windowed the game now is smooth again and fps doesn't go above 60. By the way i got the model with a 1060 and i'm on 376.33 graphic drivers version.

I just purchased a unit, manufactured in August 2016. Fan on the left side does make some noise even when browsing, like it is rattling or skimming something when it rotates (not a whirring sound). I think I will keep it since its not really too noticeable, although I am worried that it will start to degrade over time.

I had a buzzing fan on my razer blade it was due to loose fan mounting screws. Be sure to take a look for that if you haven't.

Otherwise, this is disappointing as the main benefit of this unit was quieter cooling. It would be a shame to tarnish that for cheap quality fans or shoddy QA.

I am currently communicating with AVVID sales, trying to obtain 2 spare fans and test whether this is generic issue - though, my suspicion is - the poor fan build quality ...
Normally, it's not possible to obtain this PABD19735BM-N322 fan part anywhere and MSI service refuses to accept these weird noises as a reason for its replacement. That's my experience.

Am i the only who finds that sound just fine? That's really the last thing i could complain about the laptop, the wireless adapter disappearing randomly is way more annoying than a "noise" which you can easily avoid using headphones, lol.

U r lucky ignorant . Sorry, i refuse to hear the high pitch sound from 2K dollar system.i can hear it over 8 metres off the machine.if you live alone, OK.not acceptable with family members.
The sounds appears at ~1500 and higher RPM, mainly CPU fan.
Office work, no problem.run some load and i am tempted to get it a death by a knee of mine, if i wish so..buut power is stronger within mee.

    Yes,.. I've got mad.

    I got mad as well.
    It was super annoying
3rd unit was rattling on both gpu and cpu fan
    It was really horrible.

If msi just sent us new fans to be able to change it by ourselves, it would be great.

Why don't you exchange a new one??

I have exchanged it at microcenter for 4 times.

Yeah lucky me, mine is pretty quiet (using Auto ofc) and nobody around me complained about the fans (which i keep over 2,7k rpm when gaming), including my parents lol. Honestly i can't hear it from other rooms either (unless i'm using coolerboost).

My previous laptop sounded louder and more ****ty than the one in the vid, i could easily hear it from three different rooms. I'm not saying that you shouldn't be worried/mad because you paid 2k for a machine that doesn't work as you want but you have seen that it's a "common issue", if it's a screw or a fan, i'd suggest not to touch them anyway (two reasons: 1st it may not be worth it, 2nd MSI could ***** about it if anything goes wrong, what a pain in the ass that would be). RMA would be the best if you're willing to deal with a long wait for another laptop that will probably have the same "problem". If you noticed the guy at minute 1:20 had just turned off cooler boost hence why you heard it sound that way, i can't see anything wrong in that behaviour unless you expect a desktop-like quiet fan. On Auto you barely notice it but in a real quiet enviroment the fans will be heard (ofc they're always spinning ftw) unless they are kept under 500rpm. I understand that we all got a different perception of problematic fan, imho unless the fan does not cool down components properly and makes a weird noise (more weird than the one everyone hears at high rpm 1500+) it's just as MSI wanted it to be. I'm just telling you what i think about it, it's a minor issue for me.

If ur fan at 2700 rpm sounds like 1.20 min in that clip everytime that you are playing a game.

    You will change your mind.

It is not about the louder or quieter
It is about the high pitch of the rattling

MSI must try to fix this issue ASAP.

It does that sound only when going down to lower RPM from highest one (above 3,5k+). I tested it a few times at 2,7k and above 3k rpm and it wasn't that noticeable, again, we got different ears eh, mine were used to the old fatty and loud laptop till two months ago afterall o_O.
Good luck with the fix, honestly i'm not going down to it considering all those who exchanged it, got a unit with the same high pitch after, including you. Afterall it's still a normal noise for me, especially for a 15inch gaming laptop that is way more quiet than anything else of the same size around.

Any fix for the wi-fi yet on the killer 1435 card? This is getting ridiculous, and i'm on the verge of a return. This combined with rickety fan arent worth my thousands of dollars.

Clean windows install, removed killer suite, and the driver is up to date. I also tried to uncchecked "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" under power management.

I feel your pain. I have looked up everywhere in my system to see if there was some setting interferring with the card but i found nothing.
I'm now testing the drivers from August to see if they also have this issue (i found them in the device manager setting for the wireless card) and i will report back if anything happens. This is really annoying if you can't or don't want to use an ethernet cable, it's literally the only thing pissing me off after nvidia's disastrous updates. At least it doesn't disconnect randomly when in use like the 1535 on some other laptops.

    Edit:

Are you on latest BIOS? I wonder if a bios update may fix this ****.

Ya I added the latest BIOS first thing when I installed windows 10.

The thing is, my wifi does disconnect randomly for no reason. For some reason it will say "secured no connection" even though my phone is connected to the wifi with no issues. Usually I will restart the computer and it will work when it boots up, but sometimes I have to just play the waiting game.

I reeally want to like this thing.

Damn...i won't risk breaking it even more with an update then. I'm on this bios version: E16L2IMS.10B released on 27/07/2016 and i don't get random disconnections when i'm using it luckily.

I just got this issue where the adapter disappears randomly when i put it in sleep mode. Reinstalling the drivers fixes it for a few days till it happens again, i hope the drivers from August won't give me the same issue or i'm seriously going to give up on it till they release a non bugged driver (which is kinda impossible for them from what i have seen on various forums lmao).

    Edit:

I forgot to mention that the network usage doesn't show up in task manager processes tab. I don't know if that's because i'm not using Killer Network Manager suite but it looked a bit of weird behaviour.

Hey guys a friend of mine is going overseas and bringing with him this laptop for me. (non US citizen)

Does this laptop come with the serial number at the bottom panel? I want to know if it's shown there or if it's only displayed in the box.

As my friend is going to toss out the box to bring me the notebook in his briefcase and I need the serial number to redeem a game code in MSI official page

You shouldn't need to reboot. Try using the Network and Sharing Control Panel, Manage Network Connections, right click on the Icon for the Wifi adapter, Disable/Enable - that should be enough to reconnect without rebooting.

Sleep and Hibernation have been problematic off and on for a long time, either MS breaks it or a driver doesn't work cleanly going into / out of Sleep / Hibernation.

With SSD's the boot time from cold restart is so fast, and the problems with sleep/hiberation so frequent, I decided long ago to not use sleep or hibernation.

If I need to move to another position, I close the lid (disable lid close action in power options) and move and reopen the lid and continue.

If I need to put my laptop in a backpack to move for more than 15 minutes, I shutdown. Set a watch alarm for 15 minutes in case things change - to pull the laptop from the bag and shut it down.

Disabling Hibernation stops Hibernation and FastStartup / SlowShutdown, and gets rid of the 1x memory sized hiberfil.sys - all good things.

Run As Administrator - cmd Window

    powercfg /h off

Reboot, then disable sleep option in Power options.

Now startup's and shutdowns are hard one's, not soft with dangling bugs.

Killer has had long runs of good drivers, then MS updates Windows and set's it all amiss again, it's frustration incarnate - Windows 10 - go back to Windows 8.1/7 for stability.

Or live with the bugs under Windows 10, ongoing, ad infinitum - and don't blame a maker for the bugs induced by MS.

You could swap the Wifi card with an Intel 8265, right now Intel's stuff is more stable, but the hardware doesn't have as good of range, so there's that too.

Even if MS broke it somehow, this is an issue for alot of people since a long time and they still haven't managed to fix it, unless you use older drivers (see the post quoted below). I don't use hibernation at all, it's disabled since day one. Surfing around the web i found someone with similiar issues on dell community; i will quote you the answer he got from Killer support:

If the drivers from August that i'm using won't solve this issue i will try to contact Killer Networking and see if they also tell me to use an older version such as the one posted above. I repeat, i'm currently on 12.0.0.279 drivers from August and so far i haven't had any issue.

Ya I am thinking of swapping my old intel wireless card in. I am just hesitant to remove the warranty sticker before the return window closes with amazon.
